Swiss National Library - your report at WP:AIV

[edit]

This edit by Mean as custard was not vandalism. On the English Wikipedia, accounts must be for individuals only, who are personally responsible for them, and accounts whose usernames are the names of groups or organizations are not permitted - see WP:GROUPNAME. I have posted advice on User talk:Swiss National Library about how to request a change of username, and explained that a name of the form "Michael at Swiss National Library" is perfectly acceptable, and has the advantage of making the user's affiliation clear. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 12:10, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry that the SNL account was blocked: I think that was a mistake, and the blocking administrator has unblocked to allow a request for change of username. Please do not allow this to discourage you from contributing, but I think you will find that Commons and de-wiki are exceptional in allowing corporate accounts, and you will be better able to contribute across the Wikimedia projects if you use individual user accounts for these GLAM contributions. There would be no problem in your having a separate account "Micha at SNL" if you wanted to keep those contributions separate from contributions under this account. JohnCD (talk) 16:15, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, that is a SUL account of an instituation so we can provide media on commons and the idea was that it is also a single point of contact to the institution. Obviously the english Wikipedia has other ideas how to work with GLAM but actually that doesn't work for the library.--Micha L. Rieser (talk) 16:53, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Let us conduct this conversation at one place rather than three - WT:GLAM, where we are more likely to get input from other interested people. JohnCD (talk) 21:03, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Habsburg Castle illustration

[edit]

Your illustration in the Habsburg Castle article contains ambiguous sentence fragments such as "1600 still standing." Without some context (absent from the article) it is not clear what you mean, or why the year 1600 is important to the castle. Immediately afterwards you mention that some of the buildings "still exist today", implying that something happened after the year 1600 that destroyed some of the buildings. It also isn't clear whether the buildings marked "1600 in ruins" were destroyed in the year 1600, or in some other year before 1600. jej1997 (talk) 04:56, 4 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The archeological research dated some points in time where they can make certain conclusions about the condition of the castle. Some building of the old castle were then built or were already destroyed. The points in time are: Before 1100, 1100-1250, 1600, today. It is not possible to date it more precisely. - Ex. So some bulidings were built before 1250 but were actually not there anymore after 1600. --Micha 10:59, 5 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
