Invitation to participate

Hello MichaelMaggs, On the German-language Wikipedia the community has introduced a system for several years in what users conform that they have met other users in real life. This system was created to create more trust between users and thus creating a better and nicer place to work on the wiki. On the German-language Wikipedia it is a huge success and I translated almost everything of this tool in English so that also users from other Wikipedias can use it. It only makes sense to sign up into the system if you have met at least three other users in person. We have met and you have been several occasions where you have met other Wikimedians, so that shouldn't be a problem. You can sign up for the tool, after three other users confirm they have met you, you can confirm other users yourself. About this system, more information can be found at Wikipedia:Personal acquaintances. In the green section are the instructions. On Wikipedia:Personal acquaintances/Participants will grow a list of participants who are active in the English speaking parts of the world. It would be great if would you sign up! :-) Greetings - Romaine (talk) 15:41, 19 April 2014 (UTC)

PS: On the German-language Wikipedia, everything is translated into English, but you need perhaps to set your preferences on English to show it in this language. Romaine (talk) 15:41, 19 April 2014 (UTC)

Hi Michael,

Long time, no talk! I hope you are well and working hard. I'm calling your attention to the discussion above, where the introduction of the new MediaViewer is the subject. Knowing your expertise and sensitivity on legal matters, what is you opinion on the way the WMF is forcing the thing upon us? I was especially irritated with the response I got in here, apparently from some technician at WMF. Best wishes, Alvesgaspar (talk) 11:58, 18 June 2014 (UTC)

Hi, not something I have been following closely I'm afraid, but I do agree that in its current form the viewer is not very helpful for those of us who work with image pages on Commons. It seems as though the 'WMF' person was not actually from the WMF (now reverted it seems). --MichaelMaggs (talk) 16:15, 19 June 2014 (UTC)
