Information icon Hello, I'm Knitsey. I wanted to let you know that one or more external links you added to Everyday carry have been removed because they seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thank you. Hello Knitsey. I hope you are doing well. Yes, so I thought I could add external lnks to different websites to help readers if they wanted to buy some of these items that are being talked about in these articles. For example, I recently read Everday carry again and what it means. In the bottom I have added a couple of websites that I personally buy EDC items from. I think adding these links can benefit the reader more and add value to Wikipedia's content. I understand that the last time I added an external link that was on a word and maybe not the perfect place to put these external links. I can agree with that, but this time I have added these links under "External sources" or "External Links". If that is still not an appropriate place to put these external company links, then may I suggest adding a section that is specifically designed for companies that sell those items to come and put their links in those articles? This can benefit the reader and add value for the reader. This way that will not have to go searching for companies that sell these items, they can just scroll to the bottom and click on one of the links provided to them.
Thank you
Kind regards Mtthegoat (talk) 22:28, 3 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi there, thanks for the reply.Absolutely no sales links should be added to Wikipedia.
Let me give you an example if thats ok. Imagine those links were allowed, how many companies in the US alone sell such items? Now multiply that by every company that sells such items. Wikipedia does not allow spam (which you've added again). If people read the artice and want such items they can use Google etc.
Please do not add them again.zIf links are repeatedly added they can be blacklisted on Wikipedia which in turn could affect their advertising ratings in search engines. Knitsey (talk) 22:38, 3 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Alright thank you so much for clearing that up for me. I will not add sales links to Wikipedia anymore, but I still have one question. I also write blogs on knives, EDC, Self Defense, Swords, Gift Items and much more. My website is bladeforyou.com. My question to you is if I see an article that is written in Wikipedia and I have a relevant, similar article/ blog that I wrote on my website about the same topic, which I know for a fact has a little more information than Wikipedia's article and can add more value for the reader, can I attach that link in that Wikipedia article? Not a sales link, just an external link to my website in which I have a blog written with a relevant topic that I know has more research and information that can add value for a reader? Can I insert a link for that blog? and if so how and where should I insert that link? at the bottom, somewhere in the middle of the article? Please let me know.
Thank you Mtthegoat (talk) 01:40, 4 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No, blogs are generally not suitable for any referencing. WP:RS. Blogs are usually considered unreliable as they are self published and have no oversight. Knitsey (talk) 12:34, 4 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ok so only other articles are reliable sources. Can I send you a link to one of my articles? Maybe you can take a look and see if that will work? Because I put a lot of effort and research into these articles. Trust me they have a lot of valuable information in them.

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you insert a spam link, as you did at Everyday carry. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted, preventing anyone from linking to them from all Wikimedia sites as well as potentially being penalized by search engines.
