Speedy deletion declined: The Verifier

Hello Neelix, and thanks for your work patrolling new changes. I am just informing you that I declined the speedy deletion of The Verifier - a page you tagged - because: I don't think that's particularly spammy. Could do with a rewrite though. . Please review the criteria for speedy deletion before tagging further pages. If you have any questions or problems, please let me know. GedUK  19:59, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

Spirit of America

I was trying to find photos of all 12 of the "Spirit of America" statues appearing in the American Adventure pavilion in Epcot. You have uploaded 11 of the 12 (Spirit of Adventure, Education, etc) but did not upload the Spirit of Freedom statue photo. If you have a photo of it, I would be greatly appreciative if you could post one on Wikipedia. Thank you. Deletion tags

I can't imagine anyone typing in a parenthetical name to search for the word "pied," so have put deletion tags on. Nothing personal, please don't be offended. We shall see what the wikigods say. Montanabw(talk) 21:36, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

Carabane (suite)

6) pirogue-ambulance : no real source I am afraid, except the picture itself taken while talking to people, and this [1]

7) kayendo : source already mentioned elsewhere : Constant Vanden Berghen et Adrien Manga, « Les outils », dans Une introduction à un voyage en Casamance, L'Harmattan, Paris, 1999, p. 55-56

Carabane (again)

Hi,

Good luck anyway,

Carabane (again again)

Actually I very much like the article, and I will be striking my oppose.

My rather poor French isn't good enough to judge whether all of the sources support what the article is saying, but from what I've looked at I can see no red flags. Thanks for removing the duplicate article.

I don't know if you saw my comments on the deletion discussion before you made the change. If not, please can you address the following additional issues to complete the page move:

  1. Content has been cut-and-pasted from Avram (name) to Avram (given name) andAvram (surname) without proper attribution; please see instructions at Help:Split#Procedure for the correct way to split pages.
  2. Content from the lead sentence of Avram (name) is missing from Avram (given name) and/or Avram (surname), for no readily apparent reason.

Unreferenced BLPs

Hello Neelix! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 401 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

Proposed new map style for List of Diplomatic missions by Country articles

Diplomatic missions of Spain
Cities with Singaporean diplomatic missions

As a regular contributor to these articles your views are sought about a new map style for the List of Diplomatic missions by Country articles.

Currently we are using maps which show which countries host a diplomatic mission of a given country (please see as an example the map we use for List of diplomatic missions of Spain). These maps however do not show where the missions are actually located (which may be a few for those countries with large networks of consulates). And the title of this ("Diplomatic missions of Spain") and other similar maps could be more accurate

The map style I propose instead indicates the cities that host a mission of a given country. As an example, I have produced this map for List of diplomatic missions of Singapore.

It is not difficult to make these maps. They are based on the third map below (accessible at [File:Blank map cities shaded.PNG] on Wikipedia Commons), in which I have indicated all the world capitals and other major cities where diplomatic missions are located. The circles representing cities are not visible because they are slightly different shade of grey, but all you have to do is colour each circle with a distinctive colour, and in no time you can have a more accurate and easier to read map.

I think that this approach is more appropriate for this and other categories of articles which concern cities (such as List of national capitals, Lufthansa destinations, List of cities that failed in their bids to host the Olympics etc.), rather than countries.

Please add your views to this new proposal, including whether you like it, see problems, or see ways how it could be improved here

Thanks! Kransky (talk) 10:16, 26 February 2010 (UTC)

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Campbell.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 02:17, 27 February 2010 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fred the Oyster (talk) 02:17, 27 February 2010 (UTC)

Resident Evil creatures

Hi. It seems that you forgot to include the source articles in the edit summary when you merged the creatures to the main list. I assume that the content came from List of creatures in Resident Evil 4 and List of creatures in the Resident Evil series. Would you mind attributing it with a Help:Dummy edit? Alternately, I can do it if you confirm the sources. Thanks. Flatscan (talk) 05:04, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

Are you making a minor change (dummy edit) or no change (null edit)? I usually switch the number of spaces 1↔2 following a period. I suggest editing the section List of Resident Evil characters#Creatures to get the automatic edit summary and to make the diff highlight text related to the actual copy. Flatscan (talk) 05:51, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
Glad that I could help. Happy editing to you as well. Flatscan (talk) 05:10, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

If these were pure self-links, I'd agree with removing them, but why remove links to specific sections within the same (long) article? It's actually helpful to be able to jump without returning to the ToC. —ShadowRanger (talk|stalk) 17:16, 3 March 2010 (UTC)

Looking at your full diff, the second change (removing the Queen Leech link) looks to be a legit section link. I don't know what would or would not be helpful (my experience with Resident Evil is limited to the first 15 minutes of RE4), so I don't know the relative importance of these characters and what would make them link worthy. That's just an example; it seems like there are at least a few others like that. —ShadowRanger (talk|stalk) 17:27, 3 March 2010 (UTC)

Hello, possibly Frennch Speaeking Member

I've been User-surfing and noticed that you are Quebec-Canadian. (Sounds a bit like stalking. :p) Anywho, I mentioned French-Speaking because a couple of months ago, I stumbled across a "making of" video of the first Mortal Kombat film. It was compiled by Christopher Lambert who is a French-Speaking actor who portrayed Raiden (Mortal Kombat) in the film. I was wondering if you could extract any useful information from it to add more to the article. The link is here: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x52xat_making-of-mortal-kombat_shortfilms It is of course at your discretion but would be a great addition to it. Government Issue

Regarding this, the potential confusion is with G.I. (military), which is an initialism for "Government Issue". What would you recommend as a better hatnote dab for readers that might be searching for the military term rather than the band? --IllaZilla (talk) 22:35, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

Hi Zilla,
Hatnotes should only disambiguate with articles which could be referred to by the article's title or the title of a redirect to the article in question. If G.I. (military) is the only other article which could be referred to as "Government Issue", I would recommend a hatnote such as the following:

Halloween

First, show me where it says, "The standard method of linking to character lists when some individual characters have their own articles is to link the word "Characters" in the section title." I've never seen such a thing in WP:MOSFILMS or WP:MOSTV. Unless there's an WP:MOSNAVBOX, then I'm sure there's nothing that says they must be linked there. Especially when it looks more like you're linking the term "Characters" and not providing a link to a "List of characters" from the film franchise. As for the line break...I really don't care of it's there or not. It was originally put them to keep symmetry, yes, but I was made aware a month or so ago that it was appearing on certain screens as 4 broken lines, instead of just two. I never changed the Halloween template to reflect it, and I didn't realize that you had removed it when I put the link to the character page back where it was before.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 04:29, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
