A new round of Collaboration of the Fortnight is about to begin!
The current University Collaborations of the Month are Ohio State University & Princess Nora bint Abdul Rahman University |
||
Every month two B-, C- or Start-Class higher education-related articles are chosen for you to improve. Be bold! |
Yes, it's that time again. New articles have been added. I finished this process early because I'll be running around packing and sorting out Friday's weather patterns so I can get back to Florida in time. Just in case things don't go well, at least I don't sabotage the COTF program. Anyways, the three new articles will start on Friday and you may edit the three technically still in COTF (although I've placed the collaboration-past tags already) or you may start editing early.
Here's something I want to try, start treating it as a peer review. Start by skimming through the article, making sure the article fits our article guidelines. Then review for content: any copyvio, notability issues, reference listings, following the Manual of Style.
And here's something even more radical. See if you can attract authors currently maintaining the different COTF articles to join our WikiProject and better yet, our COTF project. I found when I started this program, jumping ships and editing other universities' articles was a big leap, but it's been very fun so far. I'd like to see more people actively participating.
Let's start off the new year the right way. I want to see those articles in GAR and FAN soon. I was sad we didn't have enough people working on the Harvard article to push it to FA or GA. But no matter, let's start fresh and begin! Hope everyone had a good holiday vacation (and if you didn't get a vacation, I hope you got a lot of double time). - Jameson L. More AWB help
Hey, I was wondering how you send messages to everyone through AWB. I just started fixing typos and I want to move onto learning this message thing. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks again! :-D - Jameson L. Tai talk ♦ contribs 06:26, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
Archiving WP:UNI's talk pages
Should the talk pages in WP:UNI be archived? - Jameson L. Tai talk ♦ contribs 12:40, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
- I archived them last week. As long as we don't archive any current discussions I think it's fine. —Noetic Sage 21:24, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

I thought I did that... please check your code. :-)
- Yeah, I did. Look, the date you have on the template is the old date when I sent it (I had a typo on there because I only switched the article names, not the COTF date. However the date is fixed on the actual template. :-)- Jameson L. Tai talk ♦ contribs 15:25, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
Image:RHA.gif listed for deletion
An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, Image:RHA.gif, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. - Jameson L. Tai talk ♦ contribs 23:33, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
signpost delivery
Hey, I think I might have asked you this before, but how do you do signpost deliveries through AWB? Thanks. - Jameson L. Tai talk ♦ contribs 05:49, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
- I first add everyone from the Participants page to the list in AWB, then eliminate everything except their user talk pages. Then I just add the template found on the WP:UNI/REACH page to the edit box and start the process. It's pretty easy but let me know if you have questions. —Noetic Sage 14:20, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (Image:RHA.gif)
Thanks for uploading Image:RHA.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 08:33, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Sorry about the late notice. My 21st birthday was on Wednesday and I was pretty much sick all day Thursday, so I wasn't able to get a chance to do this. Anyways, three new articles.
Note: I didn't place the Portal on the ENT because I felt that the portal was more like a collection of articles rather than an actual article focused on the university. This semi-goes against our original goals of the COTF in which university articles would get attention first before handling the subarticles. (Portal is more like a collection of articles). Anyways, if you believe it should be back on the ENT, I'll make sure it'll be Round 6's ENT, so if you do feel it should, talk on the COTF talk page.
Oh yeah, I hope the coding works. I'm using WP:AWB to do signpost delivery by "Append Text"...hoping that it'll work. If this comes out horribly, please let me know if I haven't already fixed the error(s).
Any personal questions regarding the management and coding of this program should be directed to me talk page. Thank you for your understanding. - Jameson L. Tai talk ♦ contribs 09:00, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

The school articles you identified were initially a part of the Savannah State University article. Since an editor tagged that article as {{toolong}}, the information on the various schools was split into separate articles for expansion. I'm not sure what short of information you are looking for to determine notability. Yes, they are not as notable History of Test cricket from 1877 to 1883 as, but surely they are as notable as Yavin IV.

Rockefeller bribery
A key element in the founding of CCNY / College of the City of New York was the authority given the trustees to notify the mayor how much money they would require for the following year and requiring the city (mayor) to provide it. Period. End of debate. Of course, Nelson Rockefeller opposed this, and wanted to impose tuition. He did this step by step, starting with the 1961 deal to grant university status.
When I added the very mild addition that university status had been paid for with the abrogation of the free tuition compact, uber editor decided to remove it as "not relevant." What could be more relevant to Townsend Harris’ dream? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.247.3.91 (talk) 05:45, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

It's not vandalism
You defined an edit of mine on the colleges and universities in Israel as vandalism.
Noeticsage (Talk | contribs) m (7,628 bytes) (Reverted 2 edits by BTB london identified as vandalism to last revision by Faigl.ladislav. (TW)) (undo)
You didn't leave me a message as Wikipedia protocol demands.
It was not vandalism, I was merely correcting the page so that institutions in the OPT were not shown as being in Israel. Thus making the entry conform to International law. You may disagree (you obviously do) but this does not make it vandalism. —Preceding unsigned comment added by BTB london (talk • contribs) 18:39, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
Hey, what do you think about this list article? List of Fraternities and Sororities at George Mason University. Do you think it should be AfDed? - Jameson L. Tai talk ♦ contribs 20:50, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
- Most definitely. It is certainly not notable and really serves no purpose. I'd support a delete. If you want to be the first person to list a deletion on our deletion page, that'd be cool. Otherwise I'll list it :)
- Also, are you finding that Firefox 3 Beta 5 works with most of your add-ons? I want to download it but am afraid none of my million add-ons will have support.—Noetic Sage 21:19, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
- Well, I'll let you know if the XfD link on WP:TW works in a little bit. I've CSDed a lot of new pages already and I've tagged articles with Friendly as well. I'm not using much more wiki add-ons than that. But Minefield (FF3b5pre) seems to be working with my FF skin, even ForecastFox Enhanced. You can always remove it if you want. I'll send you the link to the AfD in a little bit. - Jameson L. Tai talk ♦ contribs 21:52, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

I've taken advice to purposefully scramble the articles so they must be multi-nation (so we don't get complaints that it's too US-centric). This time we've got an article in UK, one in US, and one in HKG. Hope this will suffice. As always, please let me know if there are any questions. - Jameson L. IIT Kanpur edit
Hi, I edited the IIT Kanpur page to clean up the horrible grammar and bad writing in the ELS and Book Club sections. What did you find wrong with my edits? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.213.244.14 (talk) 07:10, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
You also need to check the definition of vandalism given in the Wikipedia guidelines. If you disagree with my edits, fine, but marking it vandalism is unethical and in violation of Wikipedia guidelines. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.213.244.14 (talk) 07:22, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
- This was my mistake. When reading your edit saying "dumb charades", I quickly assumed it was vandalism rather than a real event. Sorry about that. The edits still suffer from academic boosterism and perhaps peacock words, but it's definitely not vandalism. Sorry!—Noetic Sage 18:06, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
