Speedy deletion nomination of BBC micro:bit
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on BBC micro:bit requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. BBC Micro Bit article
[edit]We already have a BBC Micro Bit article: can I suggest you edit this, instead of creating a new article? -- The Anome (talk) 07:10, 7 July 2015 (UTC)
NonchalantPhil writes: Thanks - the brand name on that page is wrong though, so I can't. On another note, I have a picture of the device that was taken specifically for this article, but I am unable to upload it (my account is new and I haven't made the necessary number of edits). Is there some way you can help me get the photo uploaded in the next hour or so?
- Hi there Phil, I've merged all text from both the articles and changed the name to the official branding. If you'd like to upload an image, you can do it here at Wikimedia Commons. Many thanks, and I look forward to working with you on the article --RaviC (talk) 14:36, 7 July 2015 (UTC)

[edit]Hello, I'm RichardOSmith. I wanted to let you know that I undid one or more of your recent contributions to BBC micro:bit because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. Hi Phil, not sure if you are still in a position to upload that photo to commons at upload wizard. If you can this would be great because using any of the press ones would require us to try and put together a fair use justification, which would be problematic as it is obviously possible to have someone take a picture of the device. Uploading at commons basically requires you to be the copyright holder of the image (usually the photographer) and to release it under an irrevocable creative commons license for others to use for any purpose including comercial. Thanks also for the edits you tried to make to the article, however since it is really a conflict of interest, it is best practice not to do that and instead to make suggestions for changes on the article's talkpage (link at top of article) or even here. Although primary sources such as the BBC's own website can be used to source some details, it is preferred that we use independent sources wherever possible, and build up the article by summarising that independent coverage. By doing this in this way we avoid having articles with a lot of detail that there is not a demonstrable widespread interest in - as you can imagine every corporation would want to have comprehensive details of all their product lines. If you require assistance or clarifiation on any of the above, feel free to add queries here. --ℕ ℱ 11:29, 8 July 2015 (UTC)
