This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Oman Medical Journal, and it appears to be a substantial copy of http://www.omjournal.org/ed/AboutOMJ.html.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Oman Medical Journal, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Coolug (talk) 10:54, 21 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome

[edit]

Hello, Omjournal, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I notice that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been reverted for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of deletion, you might like to draft your article before submission, then ask me or any other editor to proofread it. To start creating a draft article, just click your user name at the top of the screen when you are logged in, and edit that page as you would any other. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

The one firm rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. It is also worth noting that Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which specifically link them to one company or corporation. If your username does have such a name, it would be advisable for you to request a change of username.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! You can also just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Pharaoh of the Wizards (talk) 10:55, 21 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked

[edit]
Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended or used for publicity and/or promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.

Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, celebrity or other well-known individual, or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but it is considered inappropriate for such groups to use Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not. See WP:FAQ/Organization for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, or organization. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

What can I do now?

You are still welcome to write about something other than your company or organization. If you do intend to make useful contributions on some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, please see how to appeal a block. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 11:02, 21 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You have said that you think you understand the reason for the block, but have given no indication what you think that reason is. You have also given no indication what editing you will do in the future or how it will differ from what you did in the past. JamesBWatson (talk) 16:41, 22 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

(Comment placed by user in unblock request moved to here.) I made a mistake as I did not know how to use wikipedia properly. I understand what had caused the blockage and I Will not repeat the same mistake again.

Request reason:

I work for this company and understand that the reason I have been blocked is because I have used the site for publicity and promotion. also, i have copied the information form our website- omjournal.org. If possible, i would just like to delete my account. I wanted our journal to be visible like the other journals in wikipedia eg. BMJ, but I don't know how to do that. Rest assured this will not be repeated

Decline reason:

As mentioned below, we cannot delete accounts. Also, as your only reason for wanting an account would appear to be to promote your publication, then an unblock would not be warranted. -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 23:55, 25 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Here are a few key questions:

You are currently blocked because your username appears directly related to a company, group or product that you have been promoting, contrary to the username policy. Changing the username will not allow you to violate the 3 important principles above. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 16:03, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Additionally, please be aware that accounts cannot be deleted, for a number of reasons; first and perhaps most importantly, we have no ability to do so. Hersfold (t/a/c) 18:52, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • "I wanted our journal to be visible like the other journals in wikipedia" means, as far as I can see, that you wanted to use Wikipedia to publicise or promote your journal. Having already declined one unblock request I will leave this one to another administrator to assess, but if I were assessing this one I would be thinking "nothing this user has said gives any indication of having any intention of using Wikipedia for anything other than promotion, so I will decline this unblock request". to the administrators thank you for your responses, im sorry for many misunderstanding, i did not understand the reasons you give me before as my english not good,i come from Oman, i even need help with my english as to write this request but now ias i understand first the username that i have used is not acceptable as i have used my company's name. and second i have used the site to promote our company and have copied it form our journal website, i really did not meant it to be that way, my boss just ask me to make our journal to be seen in wikipedia when searched in google If granted to be unblocked could you please refer me and give me instruction on how to make it maybe more INFORMATIVE and not like promoting it is there somewhere i can regiaster our journal like wikijournal or maybe in wiktionary? i checked other journals in wikipedia like the lancet and BMJ, how have they registered in wikipedia stating (got from wikipedia) "The Lancet is a weekly peer-reviewed general medical journal. It is one of the world's best known, oldest, and most respected general medical journals" and without you blocking them becuase they sound like promoting as well, please give me some help, thank you so much

Decline reason:

I'm sorry, but you seem to not understand that Wikipedia is not a web directory in which you can "register" a journal. If your journal is sufficiently notable, someone unrelated to the company -- a neutral, uninvolved third party -- will likely see fit to create an article about it. We do not permit companies to write about themselves, period. jpgordon::==( o ) 15:12, 28 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The article on The Lancet is allowed to say it is one of the world's best known, oldest, and most respected general medical journals because the claim is cited (and is generally accepted by impartial observers to be true). It is not just marketing hype. . . Mean as custard (talk) 10:15, 28 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I understand that i am not allowed to write anything about our journal/company and that my user name is also considered wrong since it uses the name of the company. I was reading through the policies, since an account cannot be deleted, what happens of my account now?can i request that my user name be changed and my talk page be deleted to clear this up or do i request that my article be deleted. Please advice. Thanks

The article is already deleted. User Talkpages cannot be deleted. If you become unblocked, you will be allowed to "blank" it by removing the contents, as per WP:UP. Of course, I would not mind unblocking, I'm just not yet convinced by the above unblock request - care to add to it/rephrase so that I have more warm fuzzies confidence about your future contributions? What other subjects to you intend to edit? (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 10:09, 4 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

to admimistrators who reply to all my ublocking request thanks to all im grateful for you especially for trying to make english easy for me mr/ms bwilkins, what do "warm fuzzies" mean anyway?:) i am just a litle confused now first of all please could you tell me if i have to change my user name or will my current be ok, 2nd i dont quite understand what is the real happening in my account is my IP address blocked as well or just my account/username, please kindly help me as i cant reply and get back to the administrators who have reply to me in their talk pages because whenever i try to push talk, it says im blocked. To user mr/ms Bwilkins as of the moment honestly i do not have anything in mind to contribute but i assure you that if ever i do have i will ask you or other administrators to have a look first and to check for mistakes and corrections, also keeping in my mind not to write for promotional purposes and not to copy from other sites as I do not want this to happen again. Thank you, please advice — Preceding unsigned comment added by Omjournal (talkcontribs)

1) I have already struck "warm fuzzies" and translated it into "confidence". 2) No need for another unblock request as you already have one active 3) both your userid AND your IP address are blocked to prevent what we call evading a block. Shortly another admin - not me - will read the explanation you posted, and if satisfied that the OM Journal article will never be created again, they willunblock you to permit you to change your userid - you will have information where to do this at that point. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 10:09, 6 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Mr/Ms Bwilkins, thank you for the reply. I really hope they unblock me, my IP address and change my user id, as i understand that if my IP address blocked people from my work will not be allowed to use wikipedia as well?that is sad.Thank you for looking out on me.Omjournal (talk) 11:09, 6 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ugh - it takes 2 seconds for you to find out that I'm male. Second, you still have not given anyone the confidence that you (or anyone else from your office) will not re-create the article. Everyone from your office can currently read Wikipedia, but if they share the exact same IP address, they may not be able to edit Wikipedia. Do you have any more to add that will help other admins here? (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 12:29, 6 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Just a non-admin[BMW Tp-stalker] who, after reading the "warm fuzzies" confusion & other review of this User's posts, might suggest nudging this User over to the Simple English Wikipedia. Although he she is obviously an SPA in this venue, his her expressed familiarity with the other Wikimedia Projects might serve him her better in an ESL setting, perhaps? (This being contingent —as already pointed out— upon his her expressing interest in non-COI articles.) — DennisDallas (talk) 05:29, 8 December 2010 (UTC) & 01:45, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Mr Bwilkins, im sorry but you never mention to me you are male. Do you happen to know im female? i tell all my office what happen to me in wikipedia, the problems and told them never to tamper or write in wikipedia even about our company. As i tell you before, as of now i have nothing to write but incase i have something to contribute i will show you first. If nobody want to unblock me i will not force it. It is ok. thank you all for your time and effort. God bless you and your family Mr. Bwilkins.Omjournal (talk) 06:13, 12 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
