About best Asian team in Olympic qualifier

Hello! I am so confuse in latest 2 sources. Chiba ryo showed the source (in woman qualifier talk page) from JVC which told the best Asian team will be determined first, then the 3 from remaining 7 teams. But, FIVB, this news, the best ranked Asian team (outside of the top three teams). So, I think both sources are reliable. What's your opinion? Should I delete the information about the best Asian team from the Olympic qualifiers' pages. Thanks. Noncommittalp (talk) 22:27, 15 January 2016 (UTC)

This qualifier have been held before. FIVB is clear. Top three + Best Asian team, if the best asian team is among the top three, then the next will qualify. If the top four are asian teams, the four will qualify. They just want to secure one spot for asian teams. Any other are optionals. If the best Asian team is the 5th, then that team will qualify, the other teams have just three spots. Everything looks clear to me, is not like you said in the FIVB source, please take a look in the note: (IF ASIAN TEAM IS RANKED AMONG TOP 3, THEN NEXT RANKED TEAM WILL QUALIFY). Osplace 17:33, 18 January 2016 (UTC)
Thanks! That file didn't make it clear before. The text in bracket make me clear now. I have another question. Continental age group should rename to U18, U19,... like World Champ or not? I saw in official website the names were changed. Noncommittalp (talk) 01:10, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
Yes, names were changed. Articles should reflect that. Previous tournament under the old name, should have both, because they were officially named just like that, junior, youth, etc. Osplace 02:33, 19 January 2016 (UTC)

Latin American 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Latin America/The 10,000 Challenge ‎ has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Brazil, Mexico, Peru and Argentina etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Latin American content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 350 articles in just six days. If you would like to see this happening for Latin America, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Latin America, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thankyou. Volleyball

Hey, yeah i plan on (continue) doing so, i feel a list with teams and years is not needed and better suited in the infobox, like for other sports. Kante4 (talk) 16:03, 12 October 2017 (UTC)

When it is just a "list" which gives no new information, i would say so. Not sure if LISTCRUFT applies (probably no), but it just repeats the same information and makes the article look clumpsy. If those teams are listed in prose, it would be prefect of course. Kante4 (talk) 16:16, 12 October 2017 (UTC)
Not wrong what you say. I never see those club lists on other sport articles (Basketball, Handball, Football...), tbh. Like i said, i see no reason or use to have the same list twice in an article with no new information. I just want(ed) to make the article clearer and also not a flag party... If you disagree we might need some more editors to help reach a consensus. ;) (So far, no editor had a problem with it (as far as i can tell after editing men/women squads of the euro 2017)) Kante4 (talk) 04:56, 13 October 2017 (UTC)

I took a discussion from another board which was my fault. Did not removed any since then and will reinstall later. Kante4 (talk) 03:59, 18 October 2017 (UTC)

Formal mediation has been requested

The Mediation Committee has received a request for formal mediation of the dispute relating to "Haitian ancestry of the baseball player Sammy Sosa". As an editor concerned in this dispute, you are invited to participate in the mediation. Mediation is a voluntary process which resolves a dispute over article content by facilitation, consensus-building, and compromise among the involved editors. After reviewing the request page, the formal mediation policy, and the guide to formal mediation, please indicate in the "party agreement" section whether you agree to participate. Because requests must be responded to by the Mediation Committee within seven days, please respond to the request by 26 December 2017.

Just so you know, when you warn another editor, it is not helpful to place multiple of the same template for the same "offense" as you did here[2]. Tornado chaser (talk) 01:47, 15 January 2018 (UTC)

@Tornado chaser: I do not agree. It is very useful to know how much offensive that editor have been. No just for the editor, that should know that every single offense was in fact an offense, but for administrator and conflict managers who would like to know how that editor has behaved. --Osplace 02:15, 15 January 2018 (UTC)
I misread you warnings, I didn't realize that each template was for a different offense. Tornado chaser (talk) 02:55, 15 January 2018 (UTC)
Ok, no problem! --Osplace 01:27, 16 January 2018 (UTC)

I rolled back the edits of Imleopadilla to your last version, see here, which one is correct? your's or his? Rick (talk) 23:48, 29 January 2018 (UTC)

In my last edit I just removed WP:PEACOCK words and did not notice the individual awards problems. His edits were correct, one award, one line. --Osplace 01:46, 30 January 2018 (UTC)

Discretionary Sanctions

This message contains important information about an administrative situation on Wikipedia. It does not imply any misconduct regarding your own contributions to date.

Information

Please carefully read this information:

The Arbitration Committee has authorised discretionary sanctions to be used for pages regarding living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles, a topic which you have edited. The Committee's decision is here.

Discretionary sanctions is a system of conduct regulation designed to minimize disruption to controversial topics. This means uninvolved administrators can impose sanctions for edits relating to the topic that do not adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, our standards of behavior, or relevant policies. Administrators may impose sanctions such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks. This message is to notify you that sanctions are authorised for the topic you are editing. Before continuing to edit this topic, please familiarise yourself with the discretionary sanctions system. Don't hesitate to contact me or another editor if you have any questions.

Robert McClenon (talk) 19:20, 12 March 2018 (UTC)

Robert McClenon I do not understand why am I being warned about discretionary sanctions. Can you please remove this ASAP or explain which rules have I broken. I am not being including any disruptions, as stated in the Sammy Sosa talk. This warning may be missleading. If you found that putting this was wrong, please express that in your further edit. Thank you for your understanding. --Osplace 19:37, 12 March 2018 (UTC)
User:Osplace - No. I will not remove the caution. I have not reviewed in detail who is being disruptive, but the continued argument is disruptive. Notice that the message says that it does not imply any misconduct on your own contributions. I have not researched who is involved in the tendentious editing. Robert McClenon (talk) 23:30, 12 March 2018 (UTC)
Robert McClenon I hope you are planning to investigate anytime soon. It is completely irresponsible to behave like this. Not any better to warn us both without any investigation. --Osplace 15:51, 15 March 2018 (UTC)
User:Osplace - The caution does not imply any wrongdoing on your part or that of the other editor. There has been disruptive editing. I do not plan to pursue the matter any further. If you think that the other party has been editing disruptively, you can report them to Arbitration Enforcement. As I said, I am finished here, unless I continue to be pinged or otherwise notified about this dispute. Robert McClenon (talk) 16:01, 15 March 2018 (UTC)
User:Robert McClenon - What? There has been disruptive editing, but you are not willing to know anything else about this matter? You will only left the Discretionary sanctions warning there, without any further investigation? Were you mad because you were pinged? You are warned about harassment and ill-considered accusations of impropriety. You should apologize and remove that caution. --Osplace 18:23, 15 March 2018 (UTC)

Hi, I recently organized a conversation series on the role of women in the Wikimedia movement. A lot of the feedback I received suggested these conversations should take place in multiple languages. This is why I recently documented the conversation series and created an Organizer's guide. If you could help me with translations, that would be great. Thank you! María Cruz.
