Thanks for your help on the monitor article. If you know any other synonyms... I have been busy creating monitor articles where no one else has bothered after all of these years.
My knowledge is limited, however.

Rewriting
[edit]So, you think the stuff I've rewritten as per the talk pages of Materpiscis and Placodermi are adequate?--Mr Fink (talk) 03:51, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
--Hi there. Materpiscis looks ok! Placoderm page is a vast improvement but there is a great deal more to the placoderm relationship debate than just the Gogo fossils - the real clincher was Young and Goujet's work on eye-ring and braincase material in NSW material. I'm still collecting all the literature but I'll try to summarise it for laymen over the weekend. Ozraptor4 (talk) 05:01, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
G'day, What is your rationale behind the ID change from Tiliqua scincoides scincoides to Tiliqua nigrolutea? The articles are not so clear on what the key differences are. Thanks. Noodle snacks (talk) 10:24, 9 October 2009 (UTC)
Ahoy there! Regarding the identity of your bluey:
1) The anterior temporal scales on this guy (those are the ones just behind the scales circling the eye) are about the same size as the other scales on the cheek (as in all Tiliqua spp. save for scincoides). In scincoides these are more than twice as long as the scales immediately behind them. This is a unique scincoides feature.
2) Scincoides has discrete transverse banding on the dorsal and lateral surfaces of the body. This fellow has an irregular reticulate pattern. Southeastern scincoides also normally have a dark temporal stripe ("bandit mask') behind the eye that is absent in this critter.
3) Finally, you state the locality as "Austin's Ferry, Tasmania, Australia". Eastern Blue-tongues aren't found in Tas, with the Blotched being the only indigenous Tiliqua.
Conclusion : Lowland morph of the Blotched Blue-tongue!(T. nigrolutea) and a really nice-looking one at that! Most books tend to use the alpine morph as an illo. of this species which looks very different (black with pink/orange blotches)
Cheers Ozraptor4 (talk) 12:25, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks, have you had a look at the other image in the species article? It looks fairly different and darker. Noodle snacks (talk) 21:01, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
- Geez, you're right! Thats an Eastern Blue-tongue as well (smaller scales, transverse bands, temporal stripes). Since it shows the darker colouration of the southernmost animals in the range, I've transferred it to Tiliqua scincoides scincoides to demonstrate the great variability in colouration of the species (contrasting with the paler NSW animals).Ozraptor4 (talk) 13:46, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for correcting the above-mentioned image. It doesn't look a lot like the ones shown on the current Eastern page but I guess there can be considerable colour variation. Where I come from (Canada) we have only one lizard (five-lined skink) so I get quite a kick out of seeing these guys in the southern climes. D. Gordon E. Robertson (talk) 19:02, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
- No problem. Australia is certainly a reptilophile's paradise. We've got about 850 species compared to c.280 in the whole of North America. Ozraptor4 (talk) 15:49, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
Welcome!

Disambiguation link notification for December 9
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Borealosaurus, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Mongolian (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
