Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because your account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
  • Provide a new username.

To do this, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can go here to search and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is available to be taken.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page.

Hello, I was not looking to promote my business whatsoever. I had discovered that there was a wikipedia page for PalmStar and it included only about 2% of the information about my company. I simply wanted to add the filmography and other information all publicly available and with citations. This is in an effort for the wikipedia page for PalmStar to be accurate, because right now it is not, and it is misleading. Can you please unblock my account, thank you! Your choice of new username would be fine. You have a common misunderstanding about Wikipedia- Wikipedia does not have "pages for" topics, it has articles about topics, no different than if the New York Times wrote about your business. Please read conflict of interest and tell us what will be different about your future editing; if you have any interest in being a general contributor and editing about topics for which you have no conflict of interest, please tell which topics you might edit about. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 17:01, 11 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You forgot to follow 331dot's instructions and don't appear to have bothered to read WP:COI. Yamla (talk) 12:55, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Also, how do you report an addition that you know to be in violation of the policies you described? There were several edits to the PalmStar Media page (negative in nature) posted by a gentleman who is not at all unbiased and has a clear conflict of interest.

I apologize for my prior behavior. I have since received an education on Wikipedia's rules and now understand what I did wrong. If I am unblocked, I will adopt a new username (ksf207) in compliance with Wikipedia's username policies. I will add a clear disclosure to my user page in compliance with Wikipedia's Terms of Use. I will only edit Talk pages in compliance with Wikipedia's conflict of interest policy. I will be patient, polite, and defer to impartial editors regarding any changes I request. To the extent I believe my opponent in litigation is editing the page about my business, I will keep that to myself and comply with the Assume Good Faith policy.

If I am unblocked, my first edits will be as follows. I will go to Talk:PalmStar Media and share a proposed infobox. I will explain that I feel this IP edit violates Wikipedia's policies, because it adds lawsuits to the page citing an online directory and a crowd-sourced community article. Then, I will find an editor with interests in similar topics to see if they agree.

Thank you for considering my appeal and I apologize again for my knee-jerk reaction to seeing so much negative content on the page about my business. I now have an adviser helping me do things the right way and will be a more constructive participant moving forward. Palmstarmedia (talk) 17:15, 16 August 2023 (UTC)

You seem to be a single purpose account with the goal of editing the page in which you have a COI. If unblocked, your proposal would mean editors would have to evaluate your requests and ensure your proposed changes meet Wikipedia's neutral point of view rules. I think editors time would be better spent writing articles that they don't have a COI with. Z1720 (talk) 00:24, 4 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Your block

[edit]

There was some conversation on my talk page. Can you convince the next administrator that you understand what an encyclopedia is, and what its requirements for sourcing are? Is it clear to you that being a COI editor means there are some restrictions in what you can do here, and that it is probably wise to leave some things to others? Those are some of the things that I would want to hear if I were reading an unblock request. Drmies (talk) 02:27, 5 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hello? Drmies (talk) 19:13, 5 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    • @Drmies: I understand that Wikipedia relies on independent citations, like journalists; that I do not control the page about my company; and that Wikipedia is an independent encyclopedia that documents history, not a business directory, advertising platform, corporate website host, etc. Most importantly, I know I need to leave editorial decisions to impartial Wikipedians that better understand the rules than I do.
As a new editor, I do not understand Wikipedia that well. Everything about it is quite strange. However, I do have a consultant advising me, who has already taught me a lot. Palmstarmedia (talk) 19:49, 5 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
      • Hmm I think every new environment is probably a bit strange. You're probably a decade younger than I am, but surely y'all had an old-fashioned encyclopedia on the shelf when you were young--and you still had the Yellow Pages in those days. That's the difference. I think I'm actually playing golf with your consultant next week, haha. Listen, an editor whose judgment I trust suggested that you be allowed back in but would be confined to the talk page (and other project pages), meaning you couldn't edit the article directly but all other avenues of dispute resolution remain open. I'm thinking I might go that route--your consultant will know about this avenue. Please tell him I said hi and ping me if you've given it some thought. Bye, Drmies (talk) 19:56, 5 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Drmies: Thank you Drmies. Yes, that works. Palmstarmedia (talk) 20:26, 5 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Cabayi, I see you know how to rename users--can you do that here? Please change this to Ksf207. I'll unblock them afterwards. If you're wondering, there's a big fat section on my talk page where I think every admin who's been on this page said "sure". Thanks! Drmies (talk) 20:58, 5 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked from editing from certain pages (PalmStar Media) for a period of 3 months for coi editing. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please review Wikipedia's guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Drmies (talk) 12:25, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

So, Ksf207, you can edit anywhere you like, except that article, but you can make suggestions and request from the article talk page. Good luck. Drmies (talk) 12:26, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ksf207 I see you haven't engaged in discussion since the one post in BLP. You requested to be unblocked numerous times. What are you hoping to accomplish? Graywalls (talk) 08:24, 13 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Graywalls @Drmies FYI see the note on my talk page and their message on the talk page at PalmStar Media. If you have any disagreement with my edit feel free to restore. -Ad Orientem (talk) 21:03, 17 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
