Thanks
Thanks for moving Abuse of Illegal Drugs. That's all I got to say lol.
Message,please read
I am the creator of the article U.Z.Z. I am giving you thanks, big time. You are a true friend. And I appreciate it. If the same mess happens to you,I will be there. Just go on my talk page. And I will be glad to help you.
Deleting redirects
Why didn't you delete them if List of Extraterrestrials in Dragon Ball was deleted for the same reasons? It was no more superfluous than these three I tagged: [1], [2], [3]. Lord Sesshomaru
- Since you are a sysops, can you re-create the above deleted link? Just use one of those diifs as a copy/paste. I don't want to get one of those warnings or anything for restoring it. Lord Sesshomaru
Cherish Bound Question
There is a list of multilevel companies on Wikipedia to which I added an MLM company named Cherish Bound. There are links to several other MLMs. I didn't use marketing text. There are many others that ARE marketing that are on this list and haven't gotten deleted. Could you please tell me what I can do to write without getting deleted. This is not my business. I know the woman who owns it from a group of women entrepreneurs that I'm a part of. Please tell me what I can do to re-write so it doesn't get deleted, if that is possible. Do I need to site articles? As I said, none of the others on the list seem to have that. I know this isn't a democracy, but I wonder if it's possible to add this page so it will stay or if it's going to be deleted every time I try.
- Hello. I did delete the article although the article was deleted twice for the same reason. We try to keep only articles about companies meeting our guideline for inclusion. Now it is of course true that there are articles on Wikipedia that do not meet these guidelines and I'd be more than happy to submit these for deletion as well but as I'm sure you can understand, it's not exactly easy to keep track of 2 million articles. Because material on Wikipedia should be based on reliable sources we must limit ourselves to subjects on which such sources exist. Best, Pascal.Tesson 17:55, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
Hi Pascal. I note you removed the speedy tag from the above article, even though it was created by a (twice!) banned editor. As this abusive editor, though banned, has created literally hundreds of sock-puppets to evade his ban, I strongly feel that this article needs deletion regardless of its merit. Doing otherwise, I feel, sends the message that his persistence pays off and WP:BAN pretty-much concurs on this. Thoughts? - Alison ☺ 10:07, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
Popups still giving up-to-date user contributions.
I saw your comment on AIV regarding popups. I had been wondering if I was only person who had noticed that popups were still somehow getting through to the database :O) FlowerpotmaN (t · c) 02:02, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
- (reply) Purely guess-work on my part, but I think there must be a problem with the scripts used to generate the Recent Contributions pages. Page histories are working fine, so contributions are being recorded somewhere on the database (with the obvious comment that if they weren't, nothing would be working :O) ), so I think it's a glitch with the scripts dealing with Recent Contributions. I have a mental image of a lot of techies rushing about and having their weekends spoilt.FlowerpotmaN (t · c) 02:15, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

John Goodman and Ethics
The misguided and abusive comment you sent me concerning my edit to the John Goodman article would ordinarly not suprise me--all too often in our world individuals act in a manner lacking in both reason and character; however, the fact that you are a professor and still made such a greivous error is somewhat of a suprise and a disapointment. How can you honestly consider that reasoned revision to be vandalism? Either you are wholly unfamiliar with the meaning of the term, or you simply have no regard for decency (or at least our common language). The revision I made was factually correct. Indeed, indisputably so. As I stated, John Goodman is obese, and of the American overweight population, is without question considered to be one of the most talented and beloved. Do you deny these facts? Or do you simply wish for wikipedia to be a place devoid of colour and character? True, my wording is not traditional. But surely you cannot be so obtuse as to hold edits to such an archaic and, dare I say, lifeless standard. Further, America has a long tradition of hefty comedians--offering an observance in light of this fact seems only logical. It is an enhancement of an otherwise insufficient introduction to the article. That you would call this vandalism, and threaten to revoke my privileges, speaks of either a small or an angry mind. While my words may not change your unfortunate stance or alter your fuure behavior, I can at least take solace in knowing that I am right and that, perhaps, on some level, you know this to be true.

nop
If you're sure there is no reason for open proxies, you may want to add to the discussion Jimbo started at WT:NOP#A general statement. In spite of the policy saying "no" open proxies, we used to softblock Tor; this has only very recently changed. Also there is another consideration which I have tried to raise at WT:RFA#ArmedBlowfish removed, that anyone running a Tor node is now completely prevented from editing Wikipedia, even if they are not editing through the Tor network. Since providing anonymity to those who need it is a valuable public service, and many Wikipedia users are also privacy advocates, we may lose a lot by segmenting these two communities.
I am interested in the possible problems of paranoid admins. I've not seen what damage paranoid admins have done, though, so it's only a hypothetical to me. Do you have examples?
As you can see I regard this as an important discussion. But, I've recently been chastised for discussing this too much, so if I overstep your patience please let me know (gently). ··coelacan 00:45, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you for clarifying about paranoia. I certainly can see how a trench warfare kind of paranoia would be bad for an admin. I'm not sure if this is the kind of paranoia that AB has. If it's "I'm paranoid about me" then it seems the consequences for the rest of us would be quite minimal. But "I'm paranoid about this delicate encyclopedia" would be problematic. I think there may be questions for the candidate that would probe this, and give a clearer picture of the scope of AB's paranoia. I'll try to devise one (or I'll crib one or two from old RFAs).
- I'm actually not worried about a user like AB getting past autoblock by becoming an admin. It's certainly unorthodox, but the merits of this particular user make me confident where I might not be for another. AB has been autoblocked before, such as here, during a conversation we had regarding Brandt theatre. AB has always just waited out previous autoblocks, accepting them as necessary. This has become impossible now, after last month's hardblock crackdown on all Tor nodes. AB's options are now exhausted, with the exception of gaining the ipblock-exempt permission that admins have. WJBscribe and ^demon, both from MedCom as well, are eager to get AB back in action at MedCom, and see no other way than RFA. I trust their judgment and I already trusted AB.
- I do not need the kind of anonymity that Tor offers, but I believe many people do. I agree with everything said here, I'm impressed by real-life examples like the US navy, and I always drag out this old standby. I cannot know for sure, but I expect that there are people alive today in China and Saudi Arabia who would not be alive without services like Tor. I disagree with some of the anonymous musings of the Federalist Papers, but I do believe that there is no such thing as free speech without freedom from retaliation, which necessitates the option of anonymity. If AB cannot in good conscience turn off that Tor exit node, then I cannot and will not demand it. Then the options placed before me are "no Armedblowfish" or "admin Armedblowfish". If no one is forthcoming with some good reason why this user should not be an admin, I am inclined to support. Some people have hinted about annoying behavior, but I haven't seen diffs. I will put forward a question to probe the scope of paranoia, as in the first paragraph of this reply, since that may be important. ··coelacan 04:04, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

Article in need of re-writing. Please help.
Mr. Tesson, I would like to ask you for your help. I would like to re-write the article which I wrote about Hitachi Construction Machinery. It was deleted for reasons refering to blatant advertising. I am a little puzzled, as I looked at other companies' articles on Wikipedia for inspiration. Many of those articles included much of the same information that I did, ie. introduction, history, board of directors, sales, products and manufacturing plants. As I presume these are relevant to the description of a company, and okay by wiki-standards (since other pages have this exact same content), I would appreciate some suggestions on making my article more Wiki-friendly. I worked hard on researching my topic and spent many hours trying to make it interesting. I understand that there is a need for regulations and I would like to abide by these, but I'm having a bit of a hard time as I am new to contributing to Wikipedia. Thank you for your time. Robko71.
My RfA
Dear Pascal.Tesson, thanks for your support in my recent RfA, it was, however, unsuccessful. I am not the type of editor to be disheartened by such a result, and have gained much experience. If you have anything to contribute by way of improvements or comments, please don’t hesitate to tell me.
I will run again. Until then, Cheers, Dfrg.msc 08:35, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
Kildare Town
Hi Pascal, I'm afraid I don't understand why you removed the tag for speedy deletion from Kildare Town. In order to avoid confusion I propose to move the artcle curretnly at Kildare to Kildare Town since it deals with the town while County Kildare deals with the county. Kildare should be a disambig page. I, however, can't move Kildare-->Kildare Town while the latter is occupied by a redirect. I'm so disappointed
I'm really sad that I didn't become an administrator, it seems like people judged me and were pretty mean about it. I almost wanted to cry when I saw some opposition. Those who opposed my adminship seemed really haughty and nasty about it, like they have something I don't. Next time, I would like to see politeness, and thanks for the message anyway. Do you think a run at RfA would be premature? By this RfA(at least for now), the editors seemed to be more "tolerant" of users with lower edit counts... Wikihermit (Talk • HermesBot) 00:36, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

Wikipedia:redirect#What do we use redirects for?
Mea culpa. The reason I added {{db-reason}} to western sahara, is because Wikipedia:Redirect#Spellings, Misspellings, Tenses and Capitalizations Other capitalisations... states:
- (Articles, including redirects, whose titles are either all initial caps or only first word capitalised are found via "Go" using a case-insensitive match.)
- Note: Related redirects are needed only if the article title has two or more words and words following the first have different capitalisations. They are not needed, for example, for proper names which are all initial caps.
Please see examples; frankish empire was deleted for this reason.

Hi. You attached a notability tag to this article back in 2006. I think the subject's notability is fairly well-established by now; I'm wondering if you'd mind me removing the tag, or how you think the article would need to improve before the tag could be removed. Thanks. --P4k 23:14, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
- That's true; I think a lot of the time the only/easiest way to establish notability is through a list of accomplishments, so it's kind of a catch-22. --P4k 23:21, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

Pascal, we have interacted positively on a number of occasions, and I have enormous repect for your knowledge and skills within wikipedia. I am merely a literary critic.
I have reviewed the entire RfA page for this user, and I regret to say that I do not feel inclined to change my view. I take the view that it is either possible to give every editor admin powers after an appropriate probationary period (no comment on parameters) or alternatively admins have to meet certain standards. I do not think that just being trustworthy not to vandalise is enough. If we are going to select editors for adminship who are going to support and defend wikipedia - and do not forget that right now only 0.29% of editors enjoy admin responsibility - then I feel that they should, at minimum, declare that intention. Declaring the reverse is, for me, a definite downcheck. Perhaps you and I did not know in detail what we were going to do, but we were eager to do something for the benefit of the project. This user is not; he is willing, when he has nothing better to do, but his main reason for asking for the tools is to assist his own editing. He may have phrased it badly, but i can only go on what he says. Sorry--Anthony.bradbury"talk" 21:20, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

Unless he can produce the most dramatic reversal since Lazarus, he is not going to make it this time. I suspect that he may well deserve the tools, and your recommendation reinforces this opinion. But, as you know full well, he has to show the community that he merits them. And his answer to Q.1, which he has now modified, blew it for him. When he re-applies he will sail through if he follows advice, which you can provide (or I can) on the appropriate answering of the basic questions. As you may know, I torpedoed my first RfA in an optional question. Spurlos versunkt. We live and learn. --Anthony.bradbury"talk" 21:21, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

good day
Dear Professor Tesson. During my short experience in editing in wikipedia , this is the first time I hear someone gentle. I am not doing compliments by this is the truth, so I am appreciating your letter so much. When I decided to enrich the chief article amioun, I looked hardly for valuable sources. Something not publicized yet on internet. So I found an exclusive item, a manuscript written in Arabic. I liked this article much, and after looking for the author which I found alive, I asked him to translate his article to English for eventual publication. He accepted also my need for “authenticity”. This is why you can easily notice this specific tone, it comes from the Arabic. I also took a special care about the analysis of the author’s point of view and personal analysis of the battle amioun. I didn’t thought that is harms neutrality, I thought that speaking about a battle will always be in a similar quality. But as you suggest I will not leave this article alone under the original title amioun in history (it is quite philosophical), I will increase the volume of the original amioun article after canceling all “paragraphs with tonicity”. Thank you and it was a pleasure to write to you. Waiting for a small feedback from you Prof. Dr Nassim naseem abi shaheen 17 june 2007

Hello Pascal.Tesson, I noticed you were the administrator that deleted that user's userpage and blocked them (they had edited a page that was in my watchlist, and I saw that their userpage was redlinked when I refreshed my watchlist). As you were the deleting/blocking admin, I thought you'd be interested about an unsourced and untagged image they uploaded yesterday: Image:Photos out 73.jpg. That image was used on their userpage to depict the person that they had written about on that page. Acalamari 17:31, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
- Okay, that's fine, since you've seen the image; I wasn't going to nominate it for speedy deletion or anything. If it's of the user herself, then as you said, it can be used to depict her (as long as it's tagged correctly, otherwise it'll get deleted at a later date anyway); I can think of several users who have images on themselves on their userpages so that's not a problem. image on jkoon user page
Hey Pascal.Tesson, you recently removed the image I uploaded to my userpage. Thats fine, I had misread the copyright requirements. But I would like some help on what the best way for me to proceed with regard to uploading this image. The image was taken by a friend of mine and emailed to me. I cropped the image and have used it as a profile picture of myself on several websites and have also posted the full image on my own personal website. The person that took the image is my roommate so asking him for permission to use the image is not a big deal I'm just not sure what to classify the image as. Since he sent it to me then I cropped it and put it on my website is it 'my' image, or because he took the original photo is it always his image?
Thanks for your help in translating the legal speak for me. --jkoon 17:28, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
Jay Akselrud
The deletion of Jay Akselrud seemed a little harsh. Stating that he is not notable is kind of relative. Perhaps the article gave too much data about his running career - which definitely was not notable. But anyone that performs acts of kindness without an alterior motive should be held up as a point of light to inspire others. ~~DavidexUSA 6/21/07
Spidey
I was wondering if you could fully protect Spider-Man 4 (film), as that would never by the title of the article, as there isn't any other "Spider-Man 4" name in existence. I think this would help prevent any content forking. BIGNOLE (Contact me) 22:54, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
- That'll work for me. BIGNOLE (Contact me) 22:58, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
Hey there.
Whether I think Edward Carey is important or not is immaterial the guidelines say:
- Politicians:
- Politicians who have held international, national or statewide/provincewide office, and members and former members of a national, state or provincial legislatures.
- Major local political figures who have received significant press coverage.
- Just being an elected local official does not guarantee notability.
(emphasis mine)
City council is clearly outside that, and no other claim of notability was in the article. I'm certain local politicians have considerable importance to local residents, but that does not make them notable enough to have an article by itself. What would make Edward Carey notable amongst the hundreds of thousands other city councils? Coren 02:00, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
- No, I won't AfD it. I don't feel that strongly about it, and I wouldn't want to needlessly subject a good faith editor to the lion pit. I never take a reversed CSD personally. For one, it's a candidate for speedy deletion. Also, there's the bit about "checks and balances" and all that. This is why I feel strongly against admins who speedy delete a page nobody else tagged first. :-) I call 'em like I see 'em, and I make no claim to infallibility.
- Some editors err on the side of inclusion, I err on the side of exclusion. I've always felt a balance of both was needed (to avoid becoming either the sanitized and politically correct Encarta or some random wiki full of crap.) Coren 02:25, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
Template Deletion Question
I thank you for converting the tag for me, as this is the first time I've recommended something for deletion. I likewise recommended a few other templates for speedy deletion, so can you help me fix those? They are in my recent edit history. Where can I find the information to do this so that I might know in the future, without outside help? Thanks. :) Drumpler 12:17, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
Template:Infobox Kamen Riders/Footer
Thank you for giving me the benefit of the doubt. I will let you know if the templates don't end up being used. By the way, is there a better way for me to do something like this or is there some guideline to creating templates this way? (Guyinblack25 12:44, 22 June 2007 (UTC))
Thank you X 100
Thank you very much for supporting my RfA, which closed successfully yesterday... W00t! I hope to be a great admin (and editor) and I'm sure you can tell that my use of a large, boldfaced, capital "T" and a big checkmark image in this generic "thank you" template that I swiped from some other user's Talk Page that I totally mean business! If you need anything in the future or if you see that I've done something incorrectly, please come to my Talk Page and let me know. So now I've got a bunch of reading to do.... see you around! - eo 13:45, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
Re: Rebecca druThere's no need to not delete if it's spam, despite the OTRS copyright approval. I can send the standard response once the article is deleted and they complain via e-mail again. Be sure to leave the user notice about spam on the user's talk page please. MECU≈talk 23:53, 22 June 2007 (UTC) User Margaret ThatcherI've userfied the template to User:Walton_monarchist89/User Margaret Thatcher. I created it ages ago, and since my RfA I don't actually use it on my userpage anymore; according to Special:Whatlinkshere no one else uses it either, so there should be no disruption involved with the move. Discussion about incomplete disambiguationsHi; regarding the deletion/redirection of Good (album), i started a discussion over at Wikipedia talk:Disambiguation#Incomplete parenthetical disambiguations that you might be interested in commenting on. (Thanks for wisely countering my deletion request, by the way: so far it looks like we want to standardize on redirection.) --Piet Delport 04:02, 24 June 2007 (UTC) List of socialist flash animationsYou have no right to delete this. What you can do is improve it. I don't like vandals, but what I do like is constructive criticizm. If you dont like lists, dont use them, I like lists and many millions of people like them as well and thats why they will stay. Feel free to discuss this issue, but dont start a revert-war. Redstar1987 speedy deletion tags and warning other usersthanks for telling me that, i was wondering if there was a system for warning people about pages.--Jac16888 16:02, 24 June 2007 (UTC) Recreated PageList of Socialist Flash Animation Really? It seemed to be to be a determinedly non-notable and very short article; but if you think it should go through Afd then that's fine with me.--Anthony.bradbury"talk" 20:47, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
Vandalize? What did I vandalize? James Dean (Sexuality)I was editing it, updating all of the previous citations and none of the previously posted information was deleted, it was simply placed in a stand alone article where it could be discussed and expanded on with less controversy. I had posted my concerns about the excessive discussion about that particular section previously and nothing was done about it. The people who felt it was important to their POV did not make any attempt to adjust the article or accomodate those with differing opinions of it's worth to the general subject. There are obvious advantages for moving the information concerning allegations of James Dean's sexuality to a seperate article since it is controversial and does not necessarily need to be in the general article which address his contributions as an artist, not as a political force. Preemptively deleting the work in progress for a new article hardly appears to be fair and open minded especially since I was online and available for discussion. The link you provided about forked articles clearly does not apply in the case of the article you deleted without discussion even though it's candicy for deletion was clearly contested. I would like to appeal your rush to judgement. Veriss 06:09, 25 June 2007 (UTC) Deletionist?
I am sorry; looking back at the above post it looks a little uncivil. This was not my intention, and I apologise if that is how it came across.--Anthony.bradbury"talk" 23:21, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
I cannot even come close to answering that! In fact, I can't even do that!! But thank you.--Anthony.bradbury"talk" 23:45, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

Unfortunately i don't know how to, or if it will be even possible to copy the new page over the old one and maintain histories when it is deemed ok. Is this possible, can you do it? Sorry to bother you if there is some really obvious other place i should make this request. Thankyou. -- Jimmi Hugh 20:48, 27 June 2007 (UTC) Question about policy changeHi, I was wondering how long it takes to change policy (and/or guidelines) here on Wikipedia? Also, what exactly is needed for policy/guideline change to happen? Because frankly, the dispute I'm in now seems like it wont end unless a policy about it is introduced. People refuse to compromise, people throw around words like "consensus" and so on... and it's getting the article no where. If you could point me to some helpful articles on this matter, as well, that would help too. Thanks. Deletion of "Smashball" PageIs it the topic, or simply that we hadn't put enough content in yet? I was noticing pages like: Team Arena Master and figured if that was 'notable' enough, then so was the Smashball mod. My intent was to put up a stub and fill out the page over the next week. Do I need to write the article in its entirety before posting it at all? Thanks, Sdebaun 18:20, 29 June 2007 (UTC) Hi there, I'm not sure if you noticed, but this page is still under deletion review here. That tag shouldn't be removed until this process is concluded. Tim Vickers 17:18, 30 June 2007 (UTC) RE: FYINo probs. I generally try to avoid indefinite blocks (especially as a first block), as I feel they reduce the chance of rehabilitating vandals and, aside from being autoblocked for 24 hours, the individual can just create a new account with a "clean slate" and start again. I feel that if they continue to use the same account, a better record of their vandalism can be obtained and perhaps stronger action can be taken (e.g. identifying and blocking the underlying IP). However, I don't have any strong opinions in this case and it looks likely that future vandalism would follow a similar pattern, meaning that sockpuppets may be fairly easy to identify.
