Taxonomy templates
[edit]Hi, the link text inside a taxonomy template, like Template:Taxonomy/Artiodactyla, has to match the name of the template for the WP:Automated taxobox system to work correctly. There's already a taxonomy template at Template:Taxonomy/Cetartiodactyla. If you can explain what you wanted to do, I'll try to help, although if you are making a change to the taxonomy of whales, you should first ask at WT:MAMMALS. Hello! Thank you for your message. I tried to change the Taxonomy of the species, to be more specific, the Order, which is no longer Artiodactyla, but Cetartiodactyla. [1] . I wasn't really sure about it should be done properly and I tried to find as much info as I could before any action, but I guess I did it wrong anyway. I would definitely use some help! - Well, unfortunately there isn't agreement as to the name of the order. See the discussion at WT:MAMMALS#Taxonomy templates: updating order Cetartiodactyla?, and in particular the table showing the sources that use different names. I think we probably should change to Cetartiodactyla in taxoboxes, but it's not an open-and-shut case. Peter coxhead (talk) 10:16, 11 September 2019 (UTC)
