Hi

[edit]

Hi Pete, glad to see you here. Nice work on Escape, which was one of a few I've thrown up and never got back to, and which you're more suited to write up anyway. I hope you din't mind me offering a few pointers. The Comics Journal interviews page will probably work better as a list. I think List of Comics Journal interview subjects? I can move it if you so agree? The article you propose on Small press comics (UK) should be so capitalised, I think, see Wikipedia:Naming conventions#Lowercase second and subsequent words. That said, I think it should be more properly named either British small press comics or Small press comics scene of the United Kingdom, if I've read conventions correctly. However any thoughts you have to the contrary are appreciated, I don't mean to appear like a killjoy. Be prepared for people correcting the plural spelling of comics, which has happened at British comics. Whilst page moves are easy, the fixing of the links is generally a bugger, i.e. time consuming. Although I haven't looked at bots yet, I think you have to be an admin for that.

Any other questions or whatever on general conventions round here, give me a shout. Note convention here is to reply on the other users talk page, a fact it took me a while to get the hang of. Also, you might have a look at Wikipedia:WikiProject Comics. It's mostly geared to superhero stuff but is a good talking shop on setting conventions for comics articles in general. Hi Pete - Just wanted to say nice rewrite of my (woefully inadequate) Rian Hughes page - look forward to seeing your British small press comics article! Vizjim 15:32, 30 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

As a member of WikiProject Comics, I thought you might be interested in the Comics Collaboration of the Fortnight we have set up. Please feel free to vote on the articles listed, although bear in mind that a vote for a particular article means you are pledging to help improve the article. The goal of the collaboration is to improve articles to Featured Article status, as we feel Comics is under-represented in that area. Thanks for your help. Posy

[edit]

Thanks for noticing my work on Posy Simmonds. It's the sort of thing that I sometimes wonder whether anyone will ever read it at all... By the way, I like your photos of Lodge Hill Cemetery on flickr. I used to live about a hundred yards from there. --rbrwr± 22:59, 4 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Comics collaboration

[edit]

Hi. Forgive the cut and paste briskness of this message, but you voted at the Comics Collaboration of the Fortnight for Comics, which has now become the current collaboration. Please help to improve it in any way you can. First up we have discovered it might be best to discuss improvements on the talk page, and perhaps create a To-do list. Anyway, thanks for your help. Steve block talk 19:44, 10 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

This is just a reminder that the Birmingham meetup of UK Wikipedians that you have expressed an interst in is happening tomorrow. Sorry for the short notice. Thryduulf 15:22, 20 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Small press deletion

[edit]

Although I know you are moving out of this area a series of small press-related entries have been put up for deletion largely it appears on the grounds "because I consider them inherently non-notable. Sweatdrop studios deletion

[edit]

The entry for Sweatdrop Studios has been selected for deletion on the grounds that it is not noteworthy, and if deletion does go ahead, then would that lead to the deletion of all entries pertaining to British Small Press comics. If you could take a look. That is if you're not too busy.Msproduct 10:39, 14 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Zum!

[edit]

Zum! is currently up for deletion. As you are the expert and did all the work on the entry I thought you'd like to know. (Emperor 01:53, 5 December 2006 (UTC))[reply]

An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, Image:Zum zine issue six.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please look there to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Chris_Ware_Jimmy_Corrigan_cover.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rockfang (talk) 04:05, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:Mistys_big_adventure_band_photo_1.jpg

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Mistys_big_adventure_band_photo_1.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Rettetast (talk) 19:21, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Posy Simmons Gemma Bovery.jpeg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Posy Simmons Gemma Bovery.jpeg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. A tag has been placed on SL Records requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for organizations and companies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Friends Of The Stars

[edit]

I left some comments at Requests for Feedback. I think you're going to need more notability references. But I didn't read all the refs you gave, because some seemed to deal only with a particular band member or name change. So if you think you meet WP:BAND with what you've got, give a shot at explaining why. Good luck with the article. I think it's close, even if I'm withholding a congratulatory cigar so far. Orphaned non-free image File:Rian hughes art sample.gif

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Rian hughes art sample.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 11:03, 23 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
