wanted to know how to semi-protect a page such that vandalism by open IP users can be stopped.SP 05:56, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
- You can apply for semi-protection at WP:RFPP. Read the instructions at the top of that page first. JohnCD (talk) 08:31, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
Your recent edits
[edit]Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 06:41, 16 July 2011 (UTC)

[edit]To improve this article to GA, it's going to need some more expansion and resolution with the non-free images. I would recommend continuing to seek out more sources to determine if more details can be added about his life. In addition there are several areas throughout the article that lack citations. Anything that may be considered contentious should have a citation added. Single sentences should also be either incorporated into other paragraphs or expanded on to improve the flow of the article. Once the article is significantly expanded along with support from citations, I'd recommend having an editor or two copyedit the article. For the images, many of them are tagged with non-free licenses. For an article such as this, maybe only one or two non-free images should be included if there is justification. It seems there is some confusion that they may be public domain in the U.S., but try and figure out for sure what license they fall under to determine if they can all be kept and left in the article. For smaller issues, the lead should be expanded to better summarize the article and the citations should have full details instead of just the url (include the title, author, date, work, etc.). Take a look at some other similar GAs on ways to improve the article and consider using a peer review to get further input. --Happy editing! Nehrams2020 (talk • contrib) 21:37, 17 July 2011 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:ITBHUlogo.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:ITBHUlogo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:15, 26 July 2012 (UTC)

[edit]Hello, I'm Mufka. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Satyajit Ray, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 20:04, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
If you don't think posting a link to footage from a live football broadcast that someone has clearly stolen from a pay-to-view UK television channel isn't a copyright violation, you clearly need to do some research about copyright law. If if you don't want to do that, just take my word for it, because you obviously have no idea. – PeeJay 16:40, 26 June 2014 (UTC)

[edit]License tagging for File:Exhibition at Indian Museum Kolkata.jpeg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Exhibition at Indian Museum Kolkata.jpeg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.
To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 06:30, 10 May 2022 (UTC)
The file File:Sougata Pramanick IN.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Unused personal photo. Out of scope.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 08:33, 18 June 2023 (UTC)
