Category:Date of birth missing missing - please read

[edit]

I am currently checking articles that use this category because I have seen multiple example of incorrect usage. The correct usage is described on Date of birth missing:

This category is intended for articles about dead people (or people in Category:Possibly living people) whose historically recent year of birth is indicated, but the month and day are missing because of lack of research, notation in the relevant article, or availability in a reliable source.

and

This is a unique category and is intended to be mutually exclusive with Category:Date of birth missing (living people), Category:Date of birth unknown, Category:Year of birth missing, and Category:Year of birth unknown

If I have removed this category from an article it is because I think that it does not belong on that article. Of course, If Ihave made a mistake, then correct my error and feel free to leave a note below. (Similar comments apply to Category:Date of death missing).

A barnstar for you!

The Original Barnstar
I just saw your addition to the William Dolben article, and checked out your contributions. I think there's a tendency to ignore the contributions of people who make minor but cumulatively massive contributions to the wiki - consider this me righting that wrong :). Keep up the great work! Thank you. As my user name suggests I prefer to work away quietly, but I don't say no to kind words Quiet Editor (talk) 17:58, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Alan Garner (politician)

[edit]

I've reverted you at Alan Garner (politician). Do you have any evidence that he was born in the 20th century? He could have been 98 when he died, and so born in the 19th. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 13:27, 4 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestive evidence yes, proof no. The article records that he was a member of Wolverhampton Council "until his death" and I have yet to hear of a 98 year old council member! So I felt that it was overwhelmingly likely that he was born in the 20th century. However, I agree that is is possible, though very unlikely indeed in my opinion, that he was born in the 19th century and so I will leave it at your preferred "Year of death missing". --Quiet Editor (talk) 13:40, 4 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I may even have a year of birth (1929). Would this personal website count as a reliable source? --Quiet Editor (talk) 13:48, 4 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Borderline, but it's hardy controversial material. Try it, and see whether anyone objects. Nice find! Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 19:24, 4 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
"Borderline, but it's hardy controversial" - my feelings exactly. I'll update the article tomorrow - I'm working on my wife's iPad at the moment and she wants it back. thanks for getting back to me.--Quiet Editor (talk) 19:33, 4 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm GiantSnowman. I noticed that you recently removed some content from Bill Cunningham (footballer) without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks, GiantSnowman 12:10, 5 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have mentioned your recent change here. Not such a quiet editor after all! --Mirokado (talk) 21:07, 16 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Oh dear! Maybe I should reword my mission statement to "will TRY to focus on quiet, gnome like activities" :-). More seriously, thanks for reporting the issue - I didn't know where to flag it.--Quiet Editor (talk) 09:56, 17 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Possible removal of AWB access due to inactivity

[edit]

Hello! There is currently a request for approval of a bot to manage the AutoWikiBrowser CheckPage by removing inactive users, among other tasks. You are being contacted because you may qualify as an inactive user of AWB. First, if you have any input on the proposed bot task, please feel free to comment at the BRFA. Should the bot task be approved, your access to AWB may be uncontroversially removed if you do not resume editing within a week's time. This is purely for routine maintenance of the CheckPage, and is not indicative of wrongdoing on your part. You will be able regain access at any time by simply requesting it at WP:PERM/AWB. Thank you! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 23:36, 8 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

No objection. I've not been active for quite a while now. Intended to resume activity at some point .... Quiet Editor (talk) 16:26, 19 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
