List reorganization
[edit]A major edit such as reorganizing an entire list with hundreds of entries needs to be discussed first, as there is clear long-standing consensus for the list organization. And the reason for that is that these rail systems serve a city, not a country, so the city is the most important thing. oknazevad (talk) 15:07, 6 July 2020 (UTC)

[edit]Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at List of tram and light rail transit systems. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.
- If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor, please discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page, and seek consensus with them. Alternatively, you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant noticeboards.
- If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, please seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.
Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continued disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. This is now your second warning on reorganizing this list in a controversial fashion – please stop it. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 15:15, 11 July 2020 (UTC)

[edit]Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, but a recent edit of yours to the page List of tallest buildings has an edit summary that appears to be inaccurate or inappropriate. The summaries are helpful to people browsing an article's history, so it is important that you use edit summaries that accurately tell other editors what you did. Feel free to use the sandbox to make test edits. Tokyo Skytree is a tower not a building according to the definitions used in Wikipedia. DO NOT use inaccurate edit summaries when you add new material to an article Robynthehode (talk) 18:56, 2 August 2020 (UTC)
Wikipedia and copyright
[edit]Hello Ranamode, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your additions to HighSpeed UK have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.
- You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
- Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
- We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. All other images must be made available under a free and open license that allows commercial and derivative reuse to be used on Wikipedia.
- If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 16:14, 22 November 2020 (UTC)

Your draft article, Draft:List of degrees at Oxford University
[edit]Hello, Ranamode. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "List of degrees at Oxford University".
In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. If you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.
Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Liz Read! Talk! 00:24, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
Your edit on Table of keyboard shortcuts
[edit]Hi, I undid your edit on Table of keyboard shortcuts, because the shortcut did not work for my keyboard layout (German). Indeed, in the wikipedia article there is a description of the shortcut with the note that it is not available on all keyboard layouts. Because the shortcuts in the list should work for all keyboard layouts, I removed your edit. --ElLutzo (talk) 20:36, 2 February 2021 (UTC)

Important Notice
[edit]This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.
You have shown interest in India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.
For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Speedy deletion nomination of Flags of Argentine Provinces
[edit]Hello, Ranamode,
Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Crystallizedcarbon, and I thank you for your contributions.
I wanted to let you know, however, that I have tagged Flags of Argentine Provinces for deletion, because it doesn't appear to contain any encyclopedic content. You may find our guide for writing quality articles to be extremely informative. Also, you may want to consider working on future articles in draft space first, where they cannot be deleted for lacking content.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top. If the page is already deleted by the time you come across this message and you wish to retrieve the deleted material, please contact the deleting administrator.
For any further query, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Crystallizedcarbon}}
. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~
. Thanks!

- Hello Ranamode, Wikipedia pages can not have only images and links unless they are disambiguation pages. Don't get discouraged. Please read Help:Your first article and follow this tutorial for your next page: Wikipedia:Article_wizard. Choosing a topic with coverage by independent reliable sources is the first step. [edit]Hello, I'm Kiran891. I noticed that you recently removed content from Battle of Pavan Khind without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Kiran_891 (TALK) 16:44, 12 April 2022 (UTC)
- As you want I'll go into detail.
- First of all, there were several grammar mistakes, repeated sentences and redundant details in the article. I corrected the grammar mistakes, removed repeated texts and got rid of redundant sentences from the article.
- Second, multiple templates were describing the contents of the article to be written like a story instead of being encyclopedic, and there were a lack of citations. I proceeded to make the article sound less like a story and more encyclopedic and removed content which couldn't have their sources verified. However, I have been unsuccessful in finding citations for the article, so I decided to do whatever I did as a temporary measure.
- I hope that this is detailed enough for you, and would request for my edits to be restored if possible. Flag Mechanic (talk) 17:45, 12 April 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for the description; I have mostly restored the content. Please use ping (simply with @:) so other users are alerted when you mention them. Kiran_891 (TALK) 18:50, 12 April 2022 (UTC)

List of country subdivision flags in South America moved to draftspace

- I took the South American entries from the List of country subdivision flags and made a separate article specifically for South America. I am working on separating the main list by continent as it is too big. This type of action was previously done for the List of City flags as the entries became too much for one article. Do you still want me to cite the flags, even thought they are just copied and pasted? For the nth time (talk) 17:53, 24 May 2024 (UTC)
