- Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia
- Respect copyrights – do not copy and paste text or images directly from other websites.
- Maintain a neutral point of view – this is possibly the most important Wikipedia policy.
- Take particular care while adding biographical material about a living person to any Wikipedia page. Particularly, controversial and negative statements should be referenced to multiple reliable sources.
- No edit warring and sockpuppetry.
- If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
- Do not add troublesome content to any article, such as: copyrighted text, libel, advertising or promotional messages, and text that is not related to an article's subject. Deliberately adding such content or otherwise editing articles maliciously is considered vandalism, doing so will result your account or IP being blocked from editing.
- Lastly, if you are editing an article about an individual or group of people, please adhere to Wikipedia's Biography of Living Persons' policy.
The Wikipedia Tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome! [edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. The recent edit you made to Mexico has been reverted, as it appears to have removed content from the page without explanation. Use the sandbox for testing; if you believe the edit was constructive, please ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Thank you. I've reverted your removal of content at the above article, on two counts. Firstly, the content you removed was historically plausible, relevant to developments of Apollo's oracular cults (as a manifestation of syncretic and Monist reinterpretations of traditional Hellenic religion), and was amply supported by the cited source. You also provided no edit summary to justify the removal, but simply ticked the "minor edit" box. Please note the message above this one. Thank you. Haploidavey (talk) 12:38, 21 September 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply. Yes, the growth of Neoplatonism's an important aspect of this trend. Anyway, here's a google-books link to p. 76 of the cited work, supporting the paragraph content as a whole - [1] - I hope this is accessible to you. Hm, the original's phrasing seems uncomfortably close to the article content and the latter should probably be re-written to avoid copyvio, but for various reasons I've placed myself on the "light duties only" roster for a while - would you perhaps be interested in rephrasing the paragraph in question? If not, I'm sure someone will get around to it. Best, Haploidavey (talk) 10:09, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
- A closer inspection of the article texts shows quite a few possible copyright violations, or at least excessively close paraphrasings of the work in question (linked above). As this needs fairly urgent attention, I'll bring it to the article talk-page, and maybe do what I can in the article itself. Haploidavey (talk) 10:49, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
- Wasn't too bad, actually, and have fixed. Cheers. Haploidavey (talk) 11:24, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
