Unreferenced BLPs
Hello Rogerd! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 6 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 512 article backlog. GA reassessment of United States Air Force Academy
I have conducted a reassessment of the above article as part of the GA Sweeps process. You are being notified as you have made a number of contributions to the article. Unfortunately the poor state of referencing of the article meant that I immediately de-listed it as it fails to meet the GA criteria at present. When these concerns, which you can see at Talk:United States Air Force Academy/GA1, have been addressed you may renominate the article at WP:GAN. If you disagree with this re-assessemnt please take it ito WP:GAR for community re-assessment. Thanks. Jezhotwells (talk) 08:04, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
Tigert as UK coach
Greetings, Rogerd. I appreciate your follow-up regarding your source for John J. Tigert's two separate terms as Kentucky's basketball coach. Wanted to let you know that I finally had some time to spend on the official UK athletics website last night, and I was able to confirm the accuracy of your source regarding Tigert's two separate stints as the UK men's basketball coach. Interestingly, another editor, Cmadler, discovered that Tigert also had two separate coaching stints in charge of the UK women's basketball team. Tigert was a unique personality—I doubt you could find another guy who coached college football and men's and women's basketball at a major university (as well as serving as president of a major university). Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 13:01, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
P.S. I don't know if you noticed or not, but the article you created has been promoted to Good Article status. Cheers! Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 13:35, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks, but you (obviously) deserve a lot more credit than I do. In fact, I had forgotten that I started the article. I was stubbing out some of the older UK basketball coaches, and I stumbled on the fact that Tigert went on later in life to do much bigger things. I know that as a UK fan, it is hard for me to admit that there is something bigger than being UK BB coach! --rogerd (talk) 13:43, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
I see that you were the editor who added "Cornelius McGillicuddy" as the legal name for Connie Mack IV.[1] I can't find any source which uses that name for him (though there are sources for his father). I know that was several years ago, but do you know of any sources that describe it as his legal name? Will Beback talk 23:16, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
- Wow, you are right, five years ago!! I am not sure where I got the info. I should have referenced it, but I was a newby back then. It could have been that I assumed that because his father's legal name was Cornelius McGillicuddy, that he would have been. I guess we need to revert it. It sounds like at some point, the family name legally became Mack, but I am not sure when. --rogerd (talk) 02:32, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
- I found a reference from 2006 when he got his divorce - http://www.naplesnews.com/news/2006/aug/05/rep_macks_divorce_final_settlement_reached/ :
- Connie Mack filed for divorce under his legal name, Cornelius McGillicuddy IV
- --rogerd (talk) 22:11, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks. That clears it up. I've never heard of a congressman using an unofficial last name, but I guess it's a family tradition. Will Beback talk 22:16, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

RfC on Media Matters for America at WP:RS
Hello there, Roger. There was a recent discussion at WP:ANI regarding the systematic removal of Media Matters for America as a reliable source. I've started an RfC regarding MMfA, Media Research Center, Fairness and Accuracy In Reporting, Newsbusters etc. at Wikipedia: Identifying reliable sources. Some of us believe that these hyperpartisan sources should never be used as factual sources at Wikipedia, due to their tendency to selective edit facts. Please participate in this important discussion, concerning one of Wikipedia's most fundamental editing policies, on the Reliable Sources Talk page here. Skoal. RfC: Partisan sources
I have proposed an edit for the mainspace of an important Wikipedia policy, the Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources policy. Essentially, I believe that some sources are so partisan that using them as "reliable sources" invites more problems than they're really worth. You've previously participated in the RfC on this subject, or another related discussion indicating that you are interested in this important policy area. Please indicate here whether you support or oppose the proposed edit. The original discussion is here. Phoenix and Winslow (talk) 13:41, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

You mention on your userpage that you are issued in issues related to intellectual disabilities. I'd like to invite you to join, if you wish, WikiProject Disability. Affirming Pentecostal Church
To clarify, the Affirming Pentecostal Church is not run out of someone's home. When it was first founded, a physical address was needed, and so the home address of the incorporator, now one of the Associate Bishops, was used. His home is in Sheridan, IN. The church is actually headquartered in Indianapolis, at True Love Apostolic Church. The church maintains other offices, as well. For example, the Missions department is located at High Praises International Ministries, in Elgin, IL. The treasurer's office is at Family Worship Center in Mishawaka, IN. Youth Ministries are located at Gulf Coast Worship Center, in New Orleans. The Education department is operated from the Bible school, incorporated in Michigan. BroWCarey (talk) 15:10, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
- I didn't mean to slight this organization, perhaps my edit summary let you to think that. The article had a tag that said that it was missing the lat/long coordinates in Indiana. The only address in Indiana I found on the org's website was a residence, which I thought would be inappropriate to put the lat/long in the article of a residence. It doesn't sound like this is an article that would be appropriate to be geotagged anyway because as far as I can tell, most religious organizations do not have their headquarters geotagged (see Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), Orthodox Union and United Methodist Church. --rogerd (talk) 16:40, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
I agree geotagging is probably not appropriate. Thanks!BroWCarey (talk) 16:48, 31 May 2011 (UTC)

MSU Interview
Dear rogerd,
My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the community HERE, where it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.
So a few things about the interviews:
- Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
- Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
- All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
- All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
- The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.
Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at obar@msu.edu (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your name HERE instead.
If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at obar@msu.edu. I will be more than happy to speak with you.
Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.
Sincerely,
Jonathan Obar --Jaobar (talk) 07:26, 12 February 2012 (UTC)

New Page Triage engagement strategy released
Hey guys!
I'm dropping you a note because you filled out the New Page Patrol survey, and indicated you'd be interested in being contacted about follow-up work. This is to notify you that we've finally released both the initial documentation about the project and also the engagement strategy, which sets out how we plan to work with the community on this. Please give both a read, and leave any comments or suggestions you have on the talkpage, on my talkpage, or in my inbox - okeyeswikimedia.org.
It's awesome to finally get to start work on this! :). Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 02:02, 3 March 2012 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Pegi Young
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Pegi Young requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. PamD 23:05, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
The article Pegi Young has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Lead singer of a non-notable band is not a claim to notability. No sources other than her own website. Married to notable person is not a claim to notability, though could justify a redirect to him.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. PamD 06:54, 4 May 2012 (UTC)

the O-3 edits are spam -- please stop
your O-3 edits are spam (repeated edits not based on any RS [reliable source] or indeed any research; they are mostly inappropriate and useless to readers) -- and they are often false-- the O-3 business is late 20th century. Mahan was an admiral. Lincoln was never in the US Army...he had a state militia rank. Rjensen (talk) 20:49, 27 June 2013 (UTC)
- SPAM?! What do you possibly mean by that? Do you know what that means? You are accusing me of some kind of advertising?? Please explain yourself. As far as my disambiguation, I was trying to identify which officers held the Navy/Coast Guard rank vs. who held the Army/MC/AF rank. Yes, I know that the O-3 designation didn't exist prior to WWII, but that is besides the point. Lincoln held the state militia rank of Captain, which is equivalent to the modern US Army O-3 rank, even if he held it for a short time during the Black Hawk war. --rogerd (talk) 20:57, 27 June 2013 (UTC)
- spam = repeated thoughtless edits that are inappropriate and not based on any RS or any research. "which is equivalent to the modern US Army O-3 rank" is OR and wildly misleading (compare what Lincoln had to do to get his rank and what one has to do today). It was more an honorific then and a career today. Rjensen (talk) 21:02, 27 June 2013 (UTC)

Yesterday I proposed moving the discussion to the BLPN so that we could get a policy determination on this and thereby avoid such prolonged and repeated discussions on article talk pages. In the last few comments I haven't seen a positive to my proposal. Would you care to opine on moving the discussion? (I am posting this message to each of the admins.) Thanks. – S. Possible upgrade nomination for an GA article to FA status.
Hi Rogerd. Your user page seems to indicate a good editing background/peer review possibility for faith-related articles. I am thinking of recommending a page upgrade for a GA article to FA article status which may involve the reading of a related book review if this might be possible for you. The book is the popularly received "Evil and the God of Love". Any possible interest? AutoJellinek (talk) 20:24, 22 October 2013 (UTC)
