Re: Gervonta Davis

Greetings. Mainstream media has referred to Davis as a three-weight champion: [1], [2], [3], [4], [5]. However, because of the WBA's Super/Regular title mess, there is dissent and rightly so: [6]. What we cannot do is change the terminology on Davis's page without first discussing the matter extensively at WikiProject Boxing.

There has been prior discussion, even somewhat recently, but nothing conclusive. Such discussion would need to be revisited in order for Davis's article, including many others, to be changed. Main stream media refers to Davis as 3 weight champ, because of Floyd and PBC's promotional work. But the main thing is that Davis never fought WBA(super) super-featherweight champion Alberto Machado, he never fought WBA(super) lightweight champion Devin Haney, And he never fought WBA(Super) super-lightweight champion Josh Taylor.
