Assignment #3

Edit War

[edit]

An edit war - editors who disagree about the content of a page repeatedly override each other's contributions, rather than trying to resolve the disagreement by discussion.

  • Edit warring is unconstructive and creates animosity between editors, making it harder to reach a consensus.
  • Users can be blocked or even banned from edit wars. Original document can be restored anytime.
  • Wikipedia encourages editors to be bold. So the change can be noted
  • Reverting vandalism is not edit warring.

An example of an edit war is about the virus. For the disease, see HIV/AIDS. For other uses, see HIV (disambiguation). [1]which followed the rules from Edit warring

This article meets the definition of an edit war because:

[edit]
  • they are repeatedly override each other's contributions
  • creates animosity between editors
  • Neutral editors aware of the dispute
