Francisco Mora Catlett article
[edit]Hi Sbyrnat415. Thanks for getting in touch with me at my talk page. Wikipedia has certain policies it enforces in order to maintain its credibility and one of them is that it doesn't publish original research. All information, particularly about a living person, should come from reliable, independent, third party sources. There may be some unsourced information of a trivial or non-controversial nature in articles, but for the most part, the information should be verifiable.
Please read verifiability of wikipedia articles and identifying reliable sources to learn more. Also you may want to review inline citation help and referencing for beginners to learn how to footnote your article with those sources.
It also never hurts to read some good articles that are well sourced to get an idea. For example, Margaret Atwood (lots of citations) or Harold Gray (shorter article with fewer citations).
I hope this helps. If I can be of any further assistance, please contact me anytime at my talk page. Best Regards, Snowysusan (talk) 16:28, 27 October 2012 (UTC)
Further to my comments above...
[edit]Hi there. I just saw your additional comment about your subject not being as well known as some others. You may want to read wikipedia's general criteria for notability before a subject may be the subject of an encyclopedia article as well as criteria for notability in relation to musicians. I encourage you to keep working on the article and I hope you will be able to find sufficient sources to establish notability. Kind Regards, Snowysusan (talk) 16:33, 27 October 2012 (UTC)
Francisco Mora Article
[edit]Hello Sbryant415. I have looked at your article again and fixed some style issues. However, you references (except for the magazine reference) don't mean anything to me. You have to give enough information so the reader can find your reference and verify the information actually comes from that source. For instance: Straight No Chaser, London UK 1999 - I don't know if this is a book, a newspaper article, website or a night club. I don't know who it is written by and I have no idea where I would go to find it. I have the same problem with your next two references. Please review inline citation help because your inline citations have not been added correctly and identifying, reliable sources for assistance.
Another current issue with the article is that it uses all kinds of promotional language. Encyclopedia articles are objective - see neutral point of view. Words like "noted jazz innovator" sounds like it is an opinion or written from a fan's point of view, or maybe for an album liner, but it is not an objective point of view. What is a "seminal" recording to you may not be to someone else and language like that doesn't belong in an encyclopedia article. Such language is present throughout your article: "acclaimed," "legendary," "groundbreaking," "auspicious," "renowned," "will be considered his magnum opus," etc. All of this language must come out of the article before any reviewer is going to accept it.
I remain concerned that you may not be able to meet the criteria for notability of a musician both because your references, assuming they can be listed in some more complete way, still appear to me to be insufficient. The general criteria for notability indicates that your subject must have received significant and substantial coverage by independent, reliable sources. I'm not seeing that so far from what you have added.
Please feel free to continue to work on the article and resubmit it when you are ready. You don't need to wait on me as I am quite busy with my real job at the moment and it may take me several days to respond at the moment. You can simply resubmit the article for review and another experienced editor will have a look at it for you.
