Project Help

[edit]

Hello Schmausschmaus. I am a student in this graduate-level course. My project is to work to hopefully get an article to good article status, and I have chosen mTORC1 as my article. I am at the phase where I am supposed to elicit responses and saw that you have previously made some edits to the mTOR wikipedia page. If you have any input to the article, that would be great. If not, that is okay as well. Flemingrjf (talk) 04:14, 23 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Wulf4.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Wulf4.jpg. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 22:07, 15 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I hope you don't mind I worked on the article a bit. Feel free to add more sourced material if you have it. Unfortunately I don't own that book you are referencing. I also fixed the fair use rationale on the Minnoux and Wulf images to ensure they don't get deleted, but I recommend adding the latter to the article you created to avoid deletion based on it being orphaned. The locals are very stingy with the images. Cheers! §FreeRangeFrog 19:45, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for File:Forbstein.jpg}

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Forbstein.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Additionally, if you continue uploading bad images, you may be blocked from uploading. STBotI (talk) 23:00, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Generals

[edit]

My focus is on Knight's Cross recipients, Generals included. So yes, if you have information, I would be interested. MisterBee1966 (talk) 14:52, 7 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your addition of Mr. Dunn to the Baltimore City College page. Several editors, including myself, have worked to move the page to featured article status and are trying to maintain the page as such. Obviously any new, verified information is welcomed; but in the case of Mr. Dunn, I felt he'd fit more appropriately in the List of Baltimore City College people. If you have information as to the year he graduated, that would be helpful as well, as we are trying to move that article to featured list status as well. Thanks--«Marylandstater» «reply» 01:44, 11 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there! Thanks for the content you added on the List of Baltimore City College people page regarding William Dunn. I am curious to know where you got the date he graduated from high school. If 1937 is when he graduated, then, using the birthdate you supplied of August, 1922, he was only 14. Its possible, we just need to double check it with a reference.--67Knight 01:21, 13 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In the article about German translator Paul Schmidt, you write that he worked from 1923 at the International Court of Justice. The article for the ICJ says that it was founded in 1945. Could you correct this and provide citations? Stearnsbrian (talk) 18:28, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File:Farrahlogan.jpg listed for deletion

[edit]

An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, File:Farrahlogan.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Files for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Fair use rationale for File:Jacare16.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Jacare16.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 23:38, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

{{PD-US}} clearly does not apply, as the film is not from pre-1923. Please find the correct copyright tag. J Milburn (talk) 00:07, 14 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Wulfgrave.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Closedmouth (talk) 15:21, 14 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

von Neindorff mistakes

[edit]

your article on von Neindorff is unfortunately faulty. Firstly, your EGON von Neindorff actually was an ERICH von Neindorff, his birthdate is also faulty. There is indeed an EGON von Neindorff, not the same as the person of your article, who was a renowned riding school owner and dressage master. Please check them both here: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neindorff . A disambiguation page for the two von Neindorffs ought to be instituted and both separated as it is in the German Wikipedia. (Beniceer (talk) 15:16, 16 April 2010 (UTC))[reply]

I suggest further research, this family name seems to have been widespread and the first names are extremely common ones at the time and in Germany. Your link is one to a private webpage (which by the way forbids data re-use in Wikipedia articles) maintained by laypeople. It's no official information source. Google searches on "Erich von Neindorff" and "Egon von Neindorff" suggest that the German Wikipedia may have it correctly (instead of that other page). Any which way, the Egon von Neindorff who received the Bundesverdienstkreuz for being an accomplished riding master ought to be fully lifted out of this article and pains be taken he cannot be mistaken for that other man. Here's e.g. a portrait: http://www.von-neindorff-stiftung.de/dateiserver/egonportrait.jpg . And this website is the official website of his riding institute and its association. They certainly can be emailed for information, I'd say. And there you'd get firsthand info. Beniceer (talk) 06:30, 22 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Egon von Neindorff (dressage) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. ~BLM (talk) 22:46, 22 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Moncena Dunn (disambiguation) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Disambiguation page that has only one legitimate blue link, per WP:MOSDAB

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Thanks for uploading File:Hitlersdoor.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. You are now a Reviewer

[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 18:33, 19 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

File source problem with File:Buck trails2.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Buck trails2.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. Schmausschmaus (talk) 16:37, 7 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Steven Graff, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.stevenlgraff.com/bio.html.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) CorenSearchBot (talk) 19:17, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Steven Graff requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ttonyb (talk) 19:43, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If you really are Steven Graff, and you wish to release your text under the licensing terms, please go to WP:OTRS and follow the procedures there. I don't think it's a particularly hard procedure, and they'll make sure everything gets done properly. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 20:18, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Autopatrolled

[edit]

Hello, this is just to let you know that I have granted you the "autopatrolled" permission. This won't affect your editing, it just automatically marks any page you create as patrolled, benefiting new page patrollers. Please remember:

  • This permission does not give you any special status or authority
  • Submission of inappropriate material may lead to its removal
  • You may wish to display the {{Autopatrolled}} top icon and/or the {{User wikipedia/autopatrolled}} userbox on your user page
  • If, for any reason, you decide you do not want the permission, let me know and I can remove it
If you have any questions about the permission, don't hesitate to ask. Otherwise, happy editing!HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 17:49, 28 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Jzuro.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Jzuro.jpg. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 21:51, 28 January 2011 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Armbrust Talk Contribs 21:51, 28 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Steven Lehrer has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

self published author with no independent WP:reliable sources.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. noq (talk) 18:17, 6 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:Babyfacenelson.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Hi. When you recently edited Carl Jules Weyl, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Forest Lawn Memorial Park (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). PD image

[edit]

Hi, can you provide any more info about File:Edjackfn.jpg? We will probably need the publication date and a view of the back to show that there is no copyright notice.--Canoe1967 (talk) 00:01, 2 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have any idea if it was 'published' before 1977? Publication I think is defined as 'dissemination of copies to the public', or something similar. It looks like the mayor giving an award so we could probably assume that the local paper took it an published it. I would accept it as PD in a review but others may ask for more detail on publication. If it were a personal photo not published until after 1978 then it might not bet PD.--Canoe1967 (talk) 11:19, 2 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I found another version. Should we update the image page? Looks like a television station called KTTV, Sept 6, 1950. We also have an author stamp, Rothschild Photo, but no copyright. They rarely copyrighted those one time, 3 newspaper shots. Probably less than 50 printed for friends and family. http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/1950-jack-lalanne-mayor-edgar-137426619 --Canoe1967 (talk) 11:53, 2 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from MadmanBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Explorers of the Body, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.indiebound.org/product/info.jsp?ffiliateId=slehrer&isbn=0595407315.

(If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. File:Devifn.jpg needs authorship information

[edit]
Dear uploader:

The media file you uploaded as File:Devifn.jpg appears to be missing information as to its authorship (and or source), or if you did provide such information, it is confusing for others trying to make use of the image.

It would be appreciated if you would consider updating the file description page, to make the authorship of the media clearer.

Although some images may not need author information in obvious cases, (such where an applicable source is provided), authorship information aids users of the image, and helps ensure that appropriate credit is given (a requirement of some licenses).

  • If you created this media yourself, please consider explicitly including your user name, for which: {{subst:usernameexpand|Schmausschmaus}} will produce an appropriate expansion,
    or use the {{own}} template.
If you have any questions please see Help:File page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 11:09, 2 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Lactic acidosis

[edit]

On lactic acidosis you added two sources, both about metformin-associated lactic acidosis, to support the claim that lactic acidosis carries a 50% mortality. I would be very careful with generalisations from data pertaining to one specific cause. I found a secondary source for MALA, but I have also added some basic points about the fact that the underlying cause is an important prognostic factor. Thanks for uploading File:Wilhelm weiss.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. RFK photo by Evan Freed

[edit]

Hello Schmausschmaus. Would you happen to have any details on the publication of this photo: File:Rkennedy05.jpg. With no proof that it was published in the US before 1977, the license is just about useless when held to scrutiny. I wanted to know this because I want to use the photo in an article I'm putting through FAC review right now. In summary, a place, time, or specific publication [e.g. book or newspaper] where it was first published would be helpful. In the event Evan Freed personally released the photos into the public domain, a different license should be used. -Indy beetle (talk) 20:08, 10 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please upload free images to Commons.

[edit]

Thank you for uploading free images/media to Wikipedia! As you may know, there is another Wikimedia Foundation project called Wikimedia Commons, a central media repository for all free media. In the future, please upload media there instead (see m:Help:Unified login). That way, all of the other language Wikipedias can use them too, as well as our many sister projects. This will also allow our visitors to search for, view and use our media in one central location. If you wish to move previous uploads to Commons, see Wikipedia:Moving images to the Commons (you may view your previous uploads). Please note that non-free content, such as images claimed as fair use, cannot be uploaded to the Wikimedia Commons. Schmausschmaus, can you help me to understand what is going on here? These two articles were made up mostly of content copied verbatim from the sources; I've also removed a bit of stuff from Maurice Brodie , copied directly from the New York Times. I hope that you do understand that none of this is remotely unacceptable here, that it is copyright violation and is not tolerated?
The big question, of course, is whether there are other pages where you have done the same thing? Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Elyakum Shapirra, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Israeli (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Someone came on the live help chat today and said that this image you uploaded - File:Indra anne harry.jpg - could not be portraying Indra Devi, because Devi only ever wore orange and white, never black. Can you provide any more detail about this image? DS (talk) 16:46, 11 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Devi wears black here - Where is the documentation she wore only orange and white, never black.Schmausschmaus (talk) 14:51, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
On p 20 of Indra Devi's biography, The Goddess Pose, is written:

"She was usually dressed in shapeless black clothes..."Schmausschmaus (talk) 15:18, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Good enough, thanks. I did promise I'd ask. DS (talk) 04:48, 15 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The file File:Zeldin3.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-free book cover being used in WP:DECORATIVE manner in Isaiah Zeldin#Founds Stephen S. Wise Temple. Non-free book covers are generally allowed to be used for primary identification purposes in stand-alone articles about the books they represent, but their use in other articles or in other ways is generally only allowed when the covers themesleves are the subject of sourced critical commentary as explained in WP:NFC#cite_note-3 so that the context for non-free use required by WP:NFCC#8 is evident. There is no such commentary for this particular book cover anywhere in the Zeldin article which means there's no real justification for its non-free use.
