License tagging for Image:AtleticoBello.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:AtleticoBello.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 02:05, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

Unspecified source for Image:Dagoberto.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Dagoberto.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 00:48, 7 February 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MECUtalk 00:48, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Image:Patriotasfc.gif

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Image:Patriotasfc.gif, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

duplicated of Image:Patriotas.gif

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet very basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on [[Talk:Image:Patriotasfc.gif|the article's talk page]] explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Nueva era 21:10, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Nacional.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Nacional.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BigrTex 21:42, 30 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh please.. You could have "made" it but you don't own it.. don't try to be aggressive here and try to reach a concensus instead. And never assume you know it all... big mistake... I understand what you did and how the article was coming.. I really think the article needs some restructuring as it is.. it's in some way not encyclopedic. WHO is talking about merging?? I rather think that each individual needs its own bio if notable enough or if there is information about them out there. --F3rn4nd0 (Roger - Out) 21:35, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:Barranquillafc.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:DeportesPalmira.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. — neuro(talk) 06:33, 6 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:Deportes-palmira.png)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Deportes-palmira.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:25, 24 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Teamplete:Fb team Al-Nasr SC requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Landon Donovan, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Coca-Cola Park. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

re: David Ospina Timestamp

[edit]

Hi, It is not the date itself I have a problem with but you destroy perfectly valid and correct timestamps by removing time and UTC. Please read about the template used for creating the infobox Template:Infobox football biography which clearly states:

A timestamp (~~~~~) at which the player's national team statistics are correct (not needed if the player has retired).

and in their example they also use the five tildes which is a standard way of automatically add a timestamp as of when it was updated. Just write five tildes and it happens and shows the way it should be.

Alos please remember to sign your posts using four tildes (~~~~). QED237 (talk) 16:07, 13 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

RE: David Ospina Caps

[edit]

Well, my main source is: [1]. There, Ospina appears with 49 caps, including the friendly with Brazil. --Brayan Jaimes (talk) 17:00, 13 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I don't know what is the missing match. I'll see if I can find something. --Brayan Jaimes (talk) 17:12, 13 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I was researching, and between 2009 and 2014 he played 47 games. However, in 2007 and 2008, where he was called up for 4 games, I think that is the problem. His first match was a friendly against Uruguay, during which he played 74 minutes. Then he was called up for the qualifiers against Brazil, but did not play. The following year he played 45 minutes against Nigeria, and then played 44 minutes against Catalonia, however this last match was unofficial because Catalonia is not a member of FIFA. --Brayan Jaimes (talk) 17:44, 13 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, there's the problem. Thanks, I'll fix it right away. --Brayan Jaimes (talk) 21:08, 13 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hello there, from Portugal. About Colombian footballers: Fredy Guarín 1 - we don't use numbers in honours, especially not (1) and (2); 2 - runner-up stuff also counts OK? 3 - he won the 2011/12 Primeira Liga, played seven matches (one goal) which is more than enough.

Let's all work as a team OK? "Whistle" if you have any doubts, thank you, happy editing --84.90.219.128 (talk) 22:33, 13 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, in Portugal one minute is sufficient to attribute the accolade. About the numbers: yes i understand your approach, but it's not customary/mandatory (some articles have it yes, but many others - even good or featured articles - do not).

The runner-up stuff is as encyclopedical as it gets, surely you'll know that in competitions like the FIFA World Cup even the THIRD PLACE counts as an honour. Cheers --84.90.219.128 (talk) 14:13, 14 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

International goals

[edit]

I didn't know Gareth Bale's article listed all his international goals, but yes, I would delete it. A list of goals for a nation is excessive, no matter who the player is. – PeeJay 17:04, 8 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I would delete lists of goals from Ronaldo and Messi's pages too. It is excessive, and I've never had any opposition when I've deleted them in the past. I don't have every player's page on my watchlist, so I can't monitor them all, but the ones I've looked at have had their lists removed when I see them. – PeeJay 17:14, 8 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It doesn't matter if he's scored one goal or more goals for his country than anyone before. It's excessive, and clearly I'm not the only one who thinks so. I think perhaps you're in the minority here. – PeeJay 18:24, 8 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
You mean a user who has a special interest in Colombian football? No, clearly there's no issue there... Obviously you need to read WP:CANVAS, like I said... – PeeJay 18:33, 8 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
You can't just notify one person who clearly has a vested interest in the topic. Take it to WT:FOOTY if you have that much of a problem with it. And like I said, I can't keep an eye on every article. I've been removing these tables slowly, but there are far more people who seem keen to add the tables, and I'm only one man. – PeeJay 18:42, 8 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Numbers aren't what matter here, it's the strength of the argument. What benefit does the reader get from a list of goals? Sure, they can see the details of each goal, but not every goal is sufficiently significant to deserve that much info. If the goals are that important, mention them in the prose account of the player's career, but don't bloat the article with an unnecessarily specific and unwieldy table. – PeeJay 18:53, 8 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Per WP:COLLAPSE, collapsible tables should only be used when the content is included elsewhere in the article. In this case, the information is not included elsewhere, so collapsing the table makes no sense. – PeeJay 19:14, 8 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I just opened a discussion regarding this: [2] --Brayan Jaimes (talk) 19:27, 8 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
