Thanks

Thanks for the advice, but just to be clear my blog is NOT spam!, its long hours wasted time on keeping all fans (including myself) updated on status of current and past players. Please feel free to advise of anything might not meet the standards for an external link. Look forward to your reply Leafakasi 11:03, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

Re: Notable players

I severely doubt that the All Blacks and France national rugby union team articles passed their FACs because they put "Notable players" instead of "Notable former players". It makes more sense to add the "former" in anyway, as then we are less likely to get people adding current players to the list. - PeeJay 00:34, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

Re: History of Wales rugby team

I'm afraid my personal library of books about Welsh rugby is extremely limited. In fact, I'd be surprised if I had any books about the history of Welsh rugby, to be honest. I will try and acquire some though. Sorry I can't be of any help at the minute, as much as I'd love to. - PeeJay 00:12, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

The Original All Blacks

I just came across one of your articles, The Original All Blacks, out of pure luck. I was surprised to see that it wasn't a featured article, let alone a good article. I did notice you haven't spent a lot of time on it since the beginning of this year but it might be a suggestion to spend a short time finishing those references off at the end and consider nominating it for FA status. It seems it is not far off that at the moment... Anyway, just a suggestion. Cheers, mdmanser 00:24, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

I think it's looking pretty good. I'm in the middle of a copyçedit and I've just finished the History section, the longest part. One thing I haven't corrected yet are the scores. Some appear in words (e.g. nine to three) while other appear in numbers (e.g. 9-3). Does the Rugby Union project have a convention to represent the scores? GringoInChile 02:16, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Hey

Hey, good work on the articles you have been working on. Fra v ABs is great! I was thinking we should work on the 87/91 WCs? and how detailed do you think RWC07 results should be? Anyway, good work. (just reply here, if you want). Cvene64 14:09, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

Hey! Back are you? I know you havn't been editing much last few months. I've been working on lots of national rugby union team articles but have no probs spending time on the 87/91 RWCs. I think there should be a fair bit of detail, including line-ups etc. The best way may be to split off an article just on the pool stages. I think the did that for the Football World Cup. - Shudde talk 22:28, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
Hey. For91 we can get detailed scores from here to make it like the others. Should we make a start? By the way, the team lineups on the 07 pool page looks very well done also! Cvene64 14:55, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
  • Hey thanks for the message. It seems at least half the RWC tournaments have match reports now, which is cool, I didnt even know about that. I'm preparing to revamp Rugby World Cup Final. Maybe you could create the two red player links? That would help a lot if you get time. I'm working on variations of the article and will hopefully nominate it later for WP:FL. Also I saw your msg on the talk of the RWC07 page - I'll try and figure out that Ink thing and see if I can contribute to those great lineup images also. (you can reply here again if you want to, just that sometimes I miss peoples reply when automated newsletters and bot things appear on my talk page). Great work on the Eng article as well. Cheers. Cvene64 05:03, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
  • Hey, nice work. Only problem is I'm not sure if all of the info is right. I just threw together stuff from other pages. Do you reckon you could go through it all and check it? Especially the pre-game/match/post-final stuff? If it gets more references/cleaned up you should nominate for did you know as its a new page. Cvene64 21:21, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
    • Hey, yeah, just saw that. Nice work, its a great article. I'll have a look now. Did you get a chance to check over that 03 final article? (you can reply here if you want). Cheers. Cvene64 03:14, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
      • Sorry havn't done the 03 final article yet, but will hopefully get it done this week. I don't think it should be too hard to find references and that for it though. There are quite a few floating around on the net. - Shudde talk 03:15, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
    • Sounds good. I'm still reading through the NZ-Fr article, it is really great. Will see if there is anything I can add to it later. Cvene64 04:53, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
  • Sure, I'll have a look at it later on today. Cheers. Cvene64 23:26, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

France-Argentina correction

Hey, nice job on the France-Argentina graphic (Image:FraArg_07092007.svg)! I do have one minor correction, however:

  • The correct name for "Arocena" should be Ledesma. The player's article is at Mario Ledesma. In the Spanish naming system, his full style is Mario Ledesma Arocena, with Ledesma being his family name and Arocena being his mother's maiden name. Incidentally, this system is not widely used in Argentina, though fully understood. — Dale Arnett 17:07, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

Hey, I've changed to support. One thing though, you could update the table of tests to today's date, incoporating our lacklustre win over the USA? The Rambling Man 07:26, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

  • Hi! After a quick copy-edit (which I'm sure you noticed since you copy-edited one of my edits) I have given this FAC my support, it's a great article. Much applause for all the hard work you've put in! --Stormie 01:31, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

The All Blacks article received heavy editing today by unregistered users, which I noticed at WikiRage.com. The article may benefit from a good review. According to Wikipedia Page History Statistics, you are one of the top contributors to that page. If you have the time, would you please read over the article and make any necessary changes. from HibeeJibee

Hi Shuddle, cheers for the introduction. I'll apologise up front for any mistakes I'm making in this talk stuff, I'm having to learn it as I go along. I've not been intending to do much on rugby outside of Scotland, don't really have knowledge or access to much of it. Basically I was cruising for my local RFC a while ago and was pretty appalled at the state of the Scottish domestic section in general, in was an embarrassment and made a bad impression of the country. Thus I spent lots of time on it.

Unfortunately, I haven't even finished my initial work (still had 2nd XV system, university system, the Cups, and Caledonian Reds to do) when an established user decided to come in and start alterting the templates. While I realise this is not intended maliciously, I'm not prepared to be investing time and effort finding out (often pretty obscure) information for someone else to come along and water it down, or make it more difficult for people to get through to finding that information.

It's on that basis that I don't think I'll be finishing my work on it, which is quite sad for myself as I don't like spending times on things and not finishing them. A mate of mine said a few days ago that I shouldn't spend any time editing Wikipedia because people would just come in and change it all for the worse, I didn't believe him but actually he seems to been correct.

Anyway, good luck with the rugby pages in general. Not so much luck for Sunday though :-) I hope. HibeeJibee 00:18, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

FL Main page proposal

You either nominated a WP:FLC or closed such a nomination recently. As such, you are the type of editor whose opinion I am soliciting. We now have over 400 featured lists and seem to be promoting in excess of 30 per month of late (41 in August and 42 in September). When Today's featured article (TFA) started (2004-02-22), they only had about 200 featured articles and were barely promoting 20 new ones per month. I think the quality of featured lists is at least as good as the quality of featured articles was when they started appearing on the main page. Thus, I am ready to open debate on a proposal to institute a List of the Day on the main page with nominations starting November 1 2007, voting starting December 1 2007 and main page appearances starting January 1 2008. For brevity, the proposal page does not discuss the details of eventual main page content, but since the work has already been done, you should consider this proposal assuming the eventual content will resemble the current content at the featured content page. Such output would probably start at the bottom of the main page. The proposal page does not debate whether starting with weekly list main page entries would be better than daily entries. However, I suspect persons in favor of weekly lists are really voicing opinions against lists on the main page since neither TFA nor Picture of the day started as weekly endeavors, to the best of my knowledge. Right now debate seems to be among support for the current selective democratic/consensus based proposal, a selective dictatorial approach like that used at WP:TFA or a non-selective first in line/calendar approach like that used at WP:POTD. See the List of the Day proposal and comment at WP:LOTDP and its talk page.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 19:29, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

My proposal is that it look something like this although I am open to an alternate layout like the alternate format shown.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 06:06, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
Here is a clearer look at version 2. Also, previously you opposed the List of the Day Proposal due to formatting and because you feel it needs a Beaurocrat or admin to run it rather than a consensus based mechanism. I think you might be more concerned about having an editor who has experiences such as turning an inactive part of the project into a solid resource for the project. This person regardless of administrator status might be more important than an admin who more likely has proven vandal fighting skills. Note that I have taken both WP:CHICOTW (see our success) and WP:CHICAGO (from essentially an inactive state to an excellent project). If you look at my user page you may agree that, I am your guy. I pledge to turn the List of the Day into a very positive part of the project.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 18:14, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

There have been a series of proposals to initiate a Featured List of the Day on the main page. Numerous proposals have been put forth. After the third one failed, I audited all WP:FL's in order to begin an experiment in my own user space that will hopefully get it going. Today, it commences at WP:LOTD. Afterwards I created my experimental page, a new proposal was set forth to do a featured list that is strikingly similar to my own which is to do a user page experimental featured list, but no format has been confirmed and mechanism set in place. I continue to be willing to do the experiment myself and with this posting it commences. Please submit any list that you would like to have considered for list of the day in the month of January 2008 by the end of this month to WP:LOTD and its subpages. You may submit multiple lists for consideration.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:LOTD) 15:27, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

RfA for Canadian Paul

Four years ago this day, a foreigner was voted by the community to serve a land that he loved. Today, a new foreigner humbly accepts the charge and support of serving a community that he loves. Hopefully, he won't disappoint.

Thank you for participating in my RfA, which passed with a vote of (47/0/1). The trust bestowed upon me by the community is one of the most touching honours that I have ever received, and I vow not to let you down. Whether you have suggestions for ways in which I could improve, a request for assistance or just need someone to listen, my talk page and my email are always open. I pledge to do what I can to help this project, in the words of a man who needs no introduction, "make the internet not suck." A special thank you goes out to Tim Vickers for nominating me. Hi, you said on my talk page

Also, in the future if you are going to propose a merge between two articles you may want to try and notify the primary authors on their talk pages. In this case I probably replied to the merge proposal before you had a chance, but just letting you know anyway.

Yeah sorry - babies have a way of suddenly distracting you for a couple of hours. If there is no other input in the next couple of weeks, I cede defeat. BTW, I think the lead on the history article is far too long - it shouldn't discuss specific seasons.

On another matter, I'm thinking we should develop a separate player infobox template for pre-professional-era players - without any of the modern competitions and allowing for the fact that the majority of games played for a national side were non-test touring games. Your thoughts? dramatic (talk) 00:59, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
