Information icon Hello, I'm SQGibbon. I wanted to let you know that I undid one or more of your recent contributions to Candy Candy because it appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. SQGibbon (talk) 17:42, 5 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

How can you think the link is promotional? Doesn't the source have information about the subject?

Information icon Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Bananaman. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. McGeddon (talk) 11:07, 8 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Bananaman. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Take a look at the links given in the warnings above. WP:ELNO says to avoid linking to "blogs, personal web pages and most fansites". The fact that you are adding the same website link across multiple articles and making no other edits suggests that you may be putting a conflict of interest above the best interests of Wikipedia. The existence of other inappropriate or broken links in Wikipedia articles does not mean that we should add more of them - feel free to remove any that you feel don't meet the above policy. --McGeddon (talk) 11:16, 8 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If you're here with a speciality and can provide additional information to Wikipedia's readers in the form of actual written content, then that's great, welcome aboard! Category:Animated television series stubs might be useful if you're looking for somewhere to start - these are cartoon articles which need expanding, if you recognise any of them. But please avoid linking to the 80stoons website again. If you think it's important to include it on a particular article, raise the suggestion on the article's talk page. --McGeddon (talk) 11:34, 8 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

There are two problems as I see it. One is that there is no indication that the 80stoon.com website is a reliable source which is required in order to link to it on Wikipedia. The other is that up till today your only edits were to add links to that website. We've all seen this behavior many more times than we can count and it usually means the editor has a connection to that website and is using Wikipedia to promote it. This is against Wikipedia policy. I note that Danny Debi, the chief storyteller at Skolpopia.nl is also the person to whom 80stoons.com is registered. Pseudomonas(talk)

Yes, 80's toons is my (danny debi) directory about 80's cartoons. Skolpopia is my business name which i also use as username. These things are not a secret :)
