Thanks for uploading Image:EPDowntown1.gif. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

New Projects

[edit]

I'm not sure I'm clear on what you want the new Wikiproject to focus on. If disambiguation is what you're interested in, there is Wikipedia:WikiProject Disambiguation. If it's merging you're into, that might be covered by Wikipedia:WikiProject Integration, although that particular project doesn't seem to be too developed. The best thing to do is to focus your intent as much as possible and clearly define what you want the project to do. You might start by making a mention of it on your userpage, or start a sub-page (sandbox) for the purpose. Next thing to do is to survey interest. Are there other wikipedians who seem to be doing the kinds of things your project is focussing on? Contact those editors you see doing the type of work the project will undertake. If there is enough interest, (usually at least five people), then just start the project the same way you would start a new Wikipedia article, by creating a redlink (it should read [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Somnabot]]), with the title beginning with a capital letter. Hopefully this helps, and don't hesitate to come back for more advice. Best of luck, --Rockero 21:05, 20 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Loretto

[edit]

Hello, thanks for the message on my talk page. I am not from El Paso, however, and my interest in the Sisters of Loretto stems from their involvement in territorial New Mexico. I would however, be happy to proof the Juarez article. Murcielago 21:52, 20 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am not and have never been to El Paso, sorry. --Burgwerworldz 23:29, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Same here. I've never been there either. I prefer not to give out my exact location; see the category on my user page. --Idont Havaname (Talk) 00:50, 12 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Beer poll

[edit]

Hi! Welcome to the Beer project. Your vote/opinion on brewery notability is requested here: [1] SilkTork 12:46, 20 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your username

[edit]

Hey -- I've seen your contributions around, and thank you for helping out. However, there's a problem; your username may be inappropriate for Wikipedia, since it implies you are a bot. Would you consider placing a notice on your userpage that you are not actually a bot? If you did that, at least, it would help keep people from being confused. Mangojuicetalk 19:25, 26 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have concidered changing my name in the past; this conversation has come up before. My handle was originally suppost to read "Somnambulist". Somehow, there seems to have been some confusion in the name selection process. Anyway, is there a standard "Not-A-Bot" disclaimer template? Many thanks, Somnabot 01:08, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know of a standard not-a-bot template, but I could help you make one if you want. Mangojuicetalk 02:02, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'd love to learn how. Lead the way. Somnabot 15:03, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
(Noticing this discussion) I've decided to make one for you: try {{Notabot}}. It looks like this:
Comment Despite this user's username, this user is not a bot, but a human editor.
Hope that helps! --ais523 10:39, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
Hah... I duplicated the work. See {{Non-bot}}. :) Mangojuicetalk 12:39, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks guys. Couldn't use both, so I hsd to make a decission. I promise my selection was completely at random. Somnabot 23:39, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, Mangojuice and I merged our work, so they were both the same when you made your choice. --ais523 07:30, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

User subpages

[edit]

You seem to have created these in User:Somabot's userspace by mistake. --ais523 12:06, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

I'm referring to User:Somabot/Sandbox4, User:Somabot/Scrapbook, User:Somabot/Sandbox3, User:Somabot/To do, User:Somabot/Sandbox2, and User:Somabot/Sandbox, User:Somabot/About me, and User:Somabot/Gallery (all of which have been edited by you); or see Special:Prefixindex/User:Somabot/. It just looks like a simple typo that's perpetuated itself. Probably the best way to sort it out is to move the pages into your userspace, and then place {{db-author}} on the redirects (which means, 'I made this page by mistake'). --ais523 07:36, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

Re: Civil

[edit]

See the explanatory post I made on Talk:Abortion. The comment of yours which I found to be uncivil was, "Quit whining." Abortion is a controversial topic which tends to draw a lot of editors who are dedicated to a particular point of view. Maintain level-headedness, keep a tight rein on one's remarks, and think of a way to rephrase your point in a less critical tone. "Discussing this again would be counterprodutive" is more effective than "Stop wasting our time." Of course, everyone has slip-ups, even myself, but it's probably best to keep WP:COOL in mind if you plan on frequenting Abortion — it'll avert many hostile situations before they even begin. -Severa (!!!) 08:53, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your deleted subpages

[edit]

Yes, pages can be undeleted by any administrator for a good reason. In this case, it's clear that you tagged the wrong pages by mistake, so I've notified User:Wiki alf (the admin who deleted the pages) about what's happened. With any luck they should be restored soon. --ais523 18:07, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

Looks like it's being cleared up already: Wiki alf's log, including undeletions. --ais523 18:11, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
Unfortunately, some of the subpages were redeleted before I could detag them. I've now let User:Tim! know what the situation is. Hopefully this will be sorted again soon. --ais523 18:16, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
Thank you so much. Somnabot 21:08, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Beto O'Rourke Article

[edit]

Nope, not from El Paso. I was just moving some articles into a specific category for Mayor. Vegaswikian 06:08, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oh well, thanks for the special attention on the Beto O'Rourke article. I was just asking because I have had a couple of politically motivated edits on this page. Mr. O'Rourke is not a mayor, he is a first-term city councilman. But seriously, thanks for the extra time you spent on this article. Somnabot 08:25, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Shapleigh2a.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Shapleigh2a.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 19:07, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

Whoopsie, my bad. All fixed. Somnabot 06:43, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why in the almighty FUCK did you slander me by calling me a sockpuppet and indefinitely banned user, and also nominating my userpages for deletion? You seem to have the intelligence of a bot. You might as well accuse Jimbo of being a sockpuppet of WoW. SoaP 16:11, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please see my comments included in the archived deletion proposal. Also, please see the WP:Civility. That civility thing is an official policy of Wikipedia. You also might want to check out this article it is an essay (often mistaken for a policy) that encompasses the concept of civility. Please feel free to ask me any further questions at your earliest convenience. Somnabot 18:17, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: User:Son of a Peach

[edit]

Thanks for bringing up your concerns, Somnabot. You appear to have many of the same thoughts and concerns that I do; for the time being, I'm going to try and assume good faith, but I'm very aware that this user has had many warnings for continued behavior, and if it continues, and long block will certainly be warrented. -- Natalya 00:10, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yep, problem solved. -- Natalya 23:01, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Français

[edit]

Thanks for looking into that; it reinforces my suspicion that the edits were not vandalism. :) RadioKirk (u|t|c) 21:00, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Anytime. Somnabot 21:08, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

[edit]

While I understand your problem and share your dislike of vandalism there is not much I can do as I'm not a SYSOP (I can only catch and revert vandalism). I would go and post what you have posted on my tlak page here (WP:AN/I) that will get you some help from those who can take corrective action (Such as blocking said user). Also If he is vandalising currently the report him here (WP:AIV) There is not much I can do other than warn the user. If you need additional help please ask. Hey, Wikipedia:Miscellany for Deletion really isn't the proper way to go about deleting a redirect to a nonexistant page. In general, redirects should be proposed for deletion at Wikipedia:Redirects for Deletion, but in the case of redirects to nonexistent pages, you can just add {{db-redirnone}} to the page and it'll be speedy deleted. -Elmer Clark 05:46, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that. I'm still getting the hang of this deletion thing. Somnabot 05:50, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Not a problem. Glad you got it sorted out :) -Elmer Clark 06:31, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am in the sandbox. So far, it's my only cotributions. I like to warm up in there.WhoGivesARat'sAss?A:NotMe. 18:35, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

But why so vulgar? Why "warm up" with such nonsense? Somnabot 18:37, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I understand the word "ass" is one of those borderline words. But in today's day and age, I really didnt think anyone would take it offesively. Note the comment someone left after my third entry. As you can see, Im using it with humor. I like to warm up in the sandbox, because obviously I can't contribute these type of entries on regualar pages. Before and after writing serious entries I've got to let it out. This is my mental version of "stretching".WhoGivesARat'sAss?A:NotMe. 18:50, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Then we will leave it at that. Happy contributing. Somnabot 18:52, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Somnabot. If you look at the diff here you'll see the Ip user made four edits in sequence, the effect of which was to place and then remove vandalism. Effectively the Ip has already self-reverted. This is why you can't revert back to that last edit by User:CapeVerdeWave, it has already been done. Best, Gwernol 18:50, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a million. Somnabot 18:54, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I took a look at User:75.5.106.46. This IP only has two contibutions. While one of them is to one of your talk page archives, which you rightly reverted, I don't see what the connection is to a Texas Senate article. Perhaps you were thinking of another user? Gwernol 23:35, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

When you do a WHOIS on the IP address, it is revealed that the IP is issued by "SBC Internet Services" to a customer by the name "DEE MARGO FOR TX SENATE". Aside from this User, I have had several problems with two other users especially Stampedem which ultimately concluded in the deletion of the Dee Margo article as well as the Redirect Donald R. Margo. The article was found to be of unimportance, and a vanity page at best. It was after that point, that I decided to compile information on Margo in anticipation of a possible win for his campaign. Which brings me to the other vandal: 66.85.36.10. This vandal attacked the same page as the IP in question attempted to censor. I need resolve. Please help. Somnabot 01:35, 14 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for my late reply. I believe I read something similar to what you mentioned - it's probably somewhere in WP:AUTO. While the IP's edit was clearly vandalism, blocking is generally only done for persistent vandals (see WP:VAND, WP:AIV). If the user tries to vandalize the article again, please drop me a message. AZ t 23:03, 15 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

hey bro...I know we've had our differences and all, but if someone is messing with you it isn't me. The Wikipedia community decided the Dee Margo article didn't yet have enough importance. I know you won't belive me...but it isn't me. And the only reason I'm writing here now is because, truth be told, I had a few hard feelings over the whole incident, and I was just checking to see if anyone else had commented on it. But as for what someone else did to your page, it ain't me. I think it's also worth mentioning that I'm not involved with the dee margo campaign...so how anyone knows what transpired between you and I is a mystery to me.Stampedem.

Listen, as I've explained above, I archived the Dee Margo article here in anticipation he becomes our new State Senator. This archive has been where the mischief has transpired. I somehow feel that I may not be the right person for this task. Because I did write the Eliot Shapleigh article, I kinda feel that if I reanimate the Margo article, I may be leaving myself vulnerable to attack particularly on the grounds of bias. Although I am fully prepared for such a situation, I believe it would be proper to ask your assistance in preparing this article. Considering what I would assume to be your position on the matter, I believe you and I could co-author a great article. What do you say? Somnabot 18:36, 18 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sure. I've written a few articles myself (one of which was Chak Chak before I registered my username). I'm sure you've noticed I'm a hack at Wikipedia, an amatuer really. But if Dee wins, then sure, I'll contribute.

Great. Feel free to edit at will. By the way, would your edits of Chak Chak have been made under another username, or an IP address? Somnabot 02:17, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

IP address. I never registered because, frankly, I never thought Wikipedia would become a routine place that I would visit. But I know better now. "See Chak chak" not "Chak Chak". My original was redirected, because I'm a bad typist. Stampedem

Do you attend UTEP? Just a ballpark figure, but I imagine no one on campus knows what Chak Chak is. Student or Professor? Somnabot 18:39, 23 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
