Removal of RfD tag

[edit]

Hi Speedy Question Mark. Please do not remove RfD tags while the discussion is still in progress, as you did at 2015 Indian Grand Prix. Thanks. DH85868993 (talk) 08:52, 29 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

"Grand Prix of (name)" instead of "(Denonym) Grand Prix

[edit]

I have been changing the race titles because that is the way the FIA is referring to them on the draft calendar:

http://www.fia.com/news/world-motor-sport-council-2

In the case of the "2013 Grand Prix of India" at the top of the 2014 season article, I included it for the sake of consistency within the article. Prisonermonkeys (talk) 01:57, 8 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

References

[edit]

SQM, please read the sources that you provide as references very carefully. I have had to remove your edits about the European Grand Prix from the 2015 Formula One season article, because every single source I can find on the subject makes it clear that if the race will happen, it will not take place until 2016. Furthermore, the content of the actual sources makes it clear that the race remains to be confirmed. You have been editing Wikipedia long enough to know that these sources do not support the content you included, and so including that content in unacceptable.

If you are including this content based on Autosport articles after using up the 20 free views, then you need to find an alternative source. You MUST read the sources BEFORE you use them as sources. This was evidenced late last year when Autosport ran a headline "confirming" Kevin Magnussen at McLaren, but the content of the article made it clear he had not signed a contract.

This is a basic requirement of editing, and common sense dictates that you read articles before using them as references. I should not have to be reminding you of it. Prisonermonkeys (talk) 03:32, 1 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Pre-season testing

[edit]

SQM, please stop adding details of pre-season testing to season articles, as you have been doing at 2014 Formula One season. An established consensus holds that pre-season testing does not directly affect the season, and so should not be included. The only exception is if something dramatic happens, such as in 2012 when Lotus found serious faults in their chassis. Prisonermonkeys (talk) 00:48, 11 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Splitting out of F1 team results

[edit]

Heading for F1 results section

[edit]

Hi Speedy Question Mark. Please don't change "Complete Formula One results" headings to "Complete Grand Prix results" - "Complete Formula One results" is the standard heading. The constructor results articles are called "xxx Grand Prix results" because some of the earliest ones (e.g. Mercedes-Benz Grand Prix results and Ferrari Grand Prix results) include results from non-Formula One Grand Prix races so calling them "xxx Formula One results" would not have been accurate. And the results articles that were created subsequently followed the existing naming scheme. Regards. DH85868993 (talk) 00:21, 19 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Seriously? You think Renault are not French?

You're an idiot. You have a history of making consistently low-quality edits, and this is proof of it: "we can't assume that Renault are French". Prisonermonkeys (talk) 22:58, 3 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Seriously just grow up. If you think throwing insults around on Wikipedia of all places is clever then you are pathetic, We should wait until its officially confirmed that the license will change as they have to apply to the French motorsport governing body to get it changed and its not always a done deal even if it is very likely it would happen, as I said we cant "assume" without sources to back it up. Usually the season entry list confirms it or they announce it themselves which they haven't so far. Speedy Question Mark (talk) 23:11, 3 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello, Speedy Question Mark. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Licensing of images and their use on WrestleMania

[edit]

You can't just re-license images as you did here to get around WP:NFGALLERY. These images are property of WWE. You do not have the authority to waive their rights to these images. I am going to revert your re-licensing of these images, and once again remove the gallery of non-free images at WrestleMania#WrestleMania_Event_Logos. I strongly, adamantly recommend you do not undo these edits. Copyright is a serious issue at Wikipedia. You can not void WWE's rights and ignore WP:NFGALLERY. If you have questions, ask. Reversion is not an option. Pleading with you, --Hammersoft (talk) 20:47, 9 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited McLaren, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages John Watson, Derek Bell and David Hobbs. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

The file File:FIA Formula 2 Championship logo.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Mostly simple text logo, equivalent at Commons under free licence.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Replaceable fair use File:Sauber C13.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Sauber C13.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 19:25, 13 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Be aware that if you revert three times in 24 hrs for no reason, you can be reported for edit warring. I have left unchanged your other changes so please leave the title of the section as it is. Worlds

[edit]

It is clearly promoted for this event as Worlds [1]. - GalatzTalk 17:18, 25 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The title for its entire history has always been referred to as either "World" or "Worlds" on many different occasions but it's mostly been referred to as "World". Speedy Question Mark (talk) 15:15, 26 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Speedy; this was discussed previously. There is no consensus for a move to "worlds". It's mentioned in the other "names section" but the title has been known as "world" for the vast majority of it's history. The NWA have no official website to go off (as of yet) and the words "world" and "worlds" have been used by various sources in recent months. BBX118 14:08, 29 July 2018 (UTC)

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:11, 22 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Do you really think it's appropriate to criticise someone for having a mental illness which they have absolutely no ability to control? Whether or not I have OCD is beside the point and none of your business; that you think it's somehow acceptable to criticise or insult someone over their mental health is both disgusting and insensitive. 1.129.105.126 (talk) 08:48, 1 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I wasn't criticising I was literally asking a simple question so don't come here complaining that I'm criticising someone for having OCD when I obviously wasn't, I find it quite funny how you accuse me of this considering I have OCD myself. Speedy Question Mark (talk) 13:46, 2 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Cody vs Cody Rhodes

[edit]

So please do provide a reliable source that he is billed as "Cody Rhodes" by the NWA - since the championship title is "in character" it reflects the name they're billed at - example "Sting" is not listed as "Steve Borden" even though "he's still Steve Borden".  MPJ-DK  15:47, 3 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

"Cody" is the short name used by Cody Rhodes due to WWE owning the rights to the full "Cody Rhodes" name on TV, he is still the same character/wrestler. Speedy Question Mark (talk) 20:17, 3 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
So this was on TV right? He was introduced as "Cody" right? That is the name the championship articles should reflect.  MPJ-DK  19:59, 3 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Everyone knows that "Cody" is "Cody Rhodes" even the NWA refer to him as "Cody Rhodes" on their Twitter, why should we have to be resorted to using a temporary name that he uses under a technicality? Speedy Question Mark (talk) 22:50, 3 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Because that is what we was introduced as, factuql, not guesswork on it being "temporary" etc.  MPJ-DK  22:28, 3 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • more like @CodyRhodes since that is how Twitter works and that o

is his twitter handle.  MPJ-DK  22:34, 3 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I was referring to the posts themselves not the Twitter handles. Speedy Question Mark (talk) 02:52, 4 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This behavior can lead to you being banned from editing professional wrestling on wikipedia, under the general sanctions. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 20:47, 3 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I really don't appreciate this kind of threat when all I was doing was trying to help improve the article. Speedy Question Mark (talk) 22:53, 3 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
multiple reverts by multiple people means you should probably stop what you are doing and discuss the changes~  MPJ-DK  22:30, 3 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't think using "Cody Rhodes" was a problem considering that it's his full wrestling ring name, "Cody" is only used because WWE own the rights to the "Cody Rhodes" ring name on Television. Speedy Question Mark (talk) 02:57, 4 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
ANo, it's not. Since WWE owns the right, hsi ringname is Cody. Just like Pentagon Jr. and Penta el Zero Miedo. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 18:14, 5 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Reviewing [5] it does appear that WWE owns Cody Rhodes. Since he goes by just Cody, that is what he should be referred to during a non-WWE event. - Galatz גאליץשיחה Talk 19:07, 5 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The logo that you are proposing is not the Arrows Grand Prix International logo, but rather just the advertising "Orange Arrows F1" logo used as part of the promotion of the Orange brand when they sponsored Arrows. Similarly you will find "Warsteiner Arrows F1" logos from when Warsteiner sponsored Arrows, etc., etc.

The red, white and blue logo that I have used is the correct one and being friends with both Jackie Oliver and Allan Rees as well as owning a number of Arrows F1 cars I can assure you that I am talking form a position of knowledge.

Thanks deimh

You might be friends with them but that doesn't make your points any more relevant to the article, a lot of users on Wikipedia don't like self sourcing so its better if you avoid it. Speedy Question Mark (talk) 19:36, 20 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Arrows Grand Prix International Logo - Warning

[edit]

Hi, I see that you have erroneously amended that Arrows Logo again!

"Arrows Grand Prix International" was a company that owned and operated the Arrows F1 team and the logo of this company was the red, blue and white logo that I have used - and hence this was the official logo of Arrows F1. The company "Arrows Grand Prix International" existed until 1 December 2012, long after Orange stopped sponsoring the Arrows F1 team - and here is the confirmation from Company's House: https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/02858561

Hence your comment that "this was the last logo used" is hence totally wrong seeing:

1) "Grand Prix International", which used the red, white and blue logo existed until 2012 - see above. Hence this logo was the first and last logo associated with Arrows F1. 2) The Orange-Arrows F1 was never the "Arrows Grand Prix International" logo - which is what the title of this Wikipedia page is. Instead it was an advertising logo, conceptually the same as Warsteiner-Arrows, or Footwork-Arrows, etc.

I trust that given I have provided proof that Arrows Grand Prix International existed long after Orange stopped sponsoring Arrows F1 (confirmed by you as your only reason for wanting to use the Orange-Arrows logo) I assume that this matter is now closed.

So once again, please leave this edit alone and do not change it back again.

Thanks deimh — Preceding unsigned comment added by Deimh (talkcontribs) 20:48, 23 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You're acting like that was the only logo used by the Arrows team during their existence and the fact that the company officially existed until 2012 is irrelevant when it comes to which logo we use in the article, The company itself ceased trading in 2002 and didn't use a corporate logo during its time after being liquidated so your source doesn't mean anything. The Orange Arrows logo was the latest used by the team and the one you kept using was from the late 1980's. Speedy Question Mark (talk) 19:26, 20 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

RonBot (talk) 19:35, 30 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

All Elite Wrestling Logo.jpg

[edit]

Stop reverting this to the wrong version. The white version is not the AEW logo. The AEW logo is rendered on a black background. Wicka wicka (talk) 17:34, 9 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe you should stop considering it's literally the same logo except with the background removed. Speedy Question Mark (talk) 18:40, 9 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You're going to get yourself reported to the admins. This is not the logo of the company. You do not get to decide what the background color is. Wicka wicka (talk) 18:51, 9 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You don't seem to realize it was changed in order to adapt with the article more, it's been done with many articles on many logo's what makes this so different? Speedy Question Mark (talk) 19:00, 9 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Don't care. The logo is black. You don't get to change a company's logo. Absolutely baffling that you think otherwise. Wicka wicka (talk) 19:09, 9 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The background isn't the logo! It would be exactly the same situation removing the black background from the WWE logo it's adapting the logo to the article and you saying "Don't care" obviously shows how much of a child you are who cries if they can't get their own way so I'm not even going to bother with you. Speedy Question Mark (talk) 19:15, 9 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The last image was full of reverts and spammed with different versions so I thought it needed a fresh upload/version. Speedy Question Mark (talk) 03:26, 10 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
That is not a valid reason though, you could just have left it alone - ironically if you had done that to begin with we wouldn't have all these reverts. Please don't revert the article, just to get it to a "clean" version, history matters, not cleanliness. MPJ-DK (talk) 03:31, 10 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
If it's the exact same image then why does it matter? This just comes across as being awkward just to be awkward more than anything else. Speedy Question Mark (talk) 03:34, 10 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Why would you even do that? What is the point? "clean" version would just hide the fact that you had to be told several times that your edits were wrong. You have no policy to back it up so leave it alone. If you want to call your actions "Awekward" that's on you, not me making a personal attack. MPJ-DK (talk) 04:17, 10 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I've already explained why I uploaded a new version, I just want to know why the version I uploaded can't be used if it's the same exact image? Speedy Question Mark (talk) 04:20, 10 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
So why couldn't the old one just be used? Unless you click through it's not like you can see the fact that you were reverted several times. No sure why you think hiding that behavior is a good reason upload a non-free image again as well as be disruptive in the article editing for logical reason. MPJ-DK (talk) 04:25, 10 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I don't see how I'm being disruptive considering its the same exact image but I'm leaving this situation here because this is dragging on longer than it should. Speedy Question Mark (talk) 12:37, 10 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@MPJ-DK: I've changed the page back to use the original logo and will mark the unnecessary new one for deletion. Speedy Question Mark, if you are unclear on why editing a company's logo is wrong, or why it's wrong to upload a new version just to hide your edit history, I would be happy to ask an admin to explain. Wicka wicka (talk) 13:14, 10 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
What is wrong with you people I've explained my reason for changing it but for some reason you're obsessed with this "hide" story and plus I didn't create that image which you keep calling a "custom creation" it's just a different version of the same logo but without the black background. Speedy Question Mark (talk) 13:34, 10 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I have re-nominated the file for CSD (F1). There is absolutely no valid reason for two files to exist; it appears the old revisions are soon to be deleted. Any squabbles over "clean file histories" will then be moot, as the only people to see the mess will be admins, who most likely couldn't care less about a messy file history. -A lainsane (Channel 2)

What is your apparent obsession with replacing official logos with those you've created featuring white backgrounds? You're just causing problems. Lazer-kitty (talk) 20:32, 7 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I can say the same about continuing to use the older logo with the black background... plus the version I uploaded IS actually used by AEW on official press releases. Speedy Question Mark (talk) 20:39, 7 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
No, you cannot "say the same." That's not an older logo, it is THE logo, the one they use everywhere except for press releases. Your obsession with white backgrounds is absurd and unproductive, please STOP. Lazer-kitty (talk) 12:47, 8 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You're obsessed with using that logo when I'm trying to improve the article, the logo I used is literally used by AEW and is the negative version which is used on white backgrounds so it isn't incorrect to use. Speedy Question Mark (talk) 15:39, 8 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:NWA World Heavyweight Championship 2017.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:NWA World Heavyweight Championship 2017.png.

Thank you. Piotr Bart (talk) 15:18, 27 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

AEW as sports entertainment

[edit]

I agree with the removal of "sports entertainment" from the AEW infobox. But not for the reason you state. All pro wrestling is sports entertainment as the term is actually defined (a form of scripted entertainment made to resemble an competition). The Harlem Globetrotters are also sports entertainment, for example, because they're games are not an actual competition. So it's not just a WWE term, even if Vince coined it and insists on its use at his company, and though associated with the WWE style, it is technically correct and valid to apply it to lucha libre or puroresu. The real reason to leave it off is because it's fundamentally redundant to including a link to pro wrestling. oknazevad (talk) 13:04, 8 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It doesn't seem right having AEW as Sports Entertainment as they are against branding themselves as such. That term was coined by Vince McMahon in the late 80's/early 90's just so the WWF could avoid sports commissions. It's seen by most as a sub genre of Pro-Wrestling a genre which AEW doesn't usually partake in, AEW is mostly sports based while WWE is mostly entertainment based. Aston Martin

[edit]

It doesn't matter if it is the sponsor or not. Aramco is now part of Aston Martin constructor name. Aston Martin will be displayed as Aston Martin Aramco-Mercedes inside constructor column in results official documents. Island92 (talk) 15:26, 13 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Normal entry list for a Formula One Grand Prix. According to the information we have to today we will be reading Aston Martin Aramco Mercedes. Island92 (talk) 15:31, 13 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

On the whole, this are provisional information. By the time the first practice session gets underway in Bahrain, the first real entry list of the season will have been published by FIA. That means we could read either Aston Martin Aramco Mercedes or merely Aston Martin Mercedes. Island92 (talk) 15:51, 13 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:43, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent editing history at All In (professional wrestling) shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. — Czello (music) 19:55, 22 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
