File source problem with File:Eagle Athletics.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:Eagle Athletics.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.
If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Live Oak High School and others
[edit]Hi! As one of the coordinators of WikiProject Schools, I'm happy to see your interest in school articles. I noticed your work due to your nomination of Lone Pine for GA review. Frankly, you should withdraw that. That article is nowhere near a GA. It's full of puffery and weasel words, it is way out of conformity to school article guidelines, it's sourcing leaves a lot to be desired and it is missing big pieces. I appreciate your enthusiasm, I really do; but GA and FA school articles are rare. It is a very high bar, and regardless of editor skill, there are very few schools that have sourcing (found and unfound) that can support the detail and quality needed to reach GA or FA. Most that can are located in large cities and are pretty old. Modeling articles about schools on a biography of one of the most written about men in US history is a bad choice. There are lists of good and featured articles on schools at WP:WPSCH. I'd strongly suggest that you review the school article guidelines and then choose one of those articles to use as a template. Writing about social geography topics (cities and other political divisions, significant buildings, schools, roads etc) is very different than writing biographies. There are different guidelines for one, and conforming to guidelines is part of GA review. I'm not trying to discourage you, but you should probably set less lofty goals until you get the hang of things here. Until you've been editing long enough to know and understand the nuances of WP:RS, WP:MOS, WP:NOT, WP:V and hundreds of other policies guidelines and unwritten traditions, GA is simply not a realistic goal. Thanks for your enthusiasm. I'll leave you a link to a Q&A forum just for new editors that was lots of help for me when I first started. If you have questions about editing school articles (or settlement articles too...I work on those frequently also), feel free to drop me a line. John from Idegon (talk) 09:15, 14 June 2019 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Flood live oak hs.jpg
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on File:Flood live oak hs.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.theadvocate.com/baton_rouge/news/environment/article_f8b91252-624e-11e6-a196-4385fc9a3415.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Your GA nomination of Live Oak High School (Louisiana)
[edit]GA Notice |
---|
Hello, I just wanted to introduce myself and let you know I am glad to be reviewing the article Live Oak High School (Louisiana) that you recently nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. This is actually my maiden-voyage as a reviewer for a Good Article candidate, so don't hesitate to speak up if my interpretation of the guidelines doesn't match what you've seen in other GA reviews as you were preparing for this one; I'm always glad to examine things under a new light if at first I didn't succeed. Take care, and I'll be in touch shortly with the initial comments from my review. — ⚞ 🐈ℛogueScholar ₨Talk🗩 ⚟ 09:01, 24 September 2019 (UTC) |

2019 US Banknote Contest
[edit]US Banknote Contest | ||
---|---|---|
November-December 2019 | ||
There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons. In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate. If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here |
