Admin nomination

[edit]

OK, so I probably don't deserve to be one, yet, but I've nominated myself for adminship. See here. Comment or ask a question if you like. --Cprice1000talk2me 05:53, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. That's all I can say, I'm startstuck :) Happy New Year (It's just now 12:00 here --Cprice1000talk2me 06:02, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Let's look back on last year :)

  1. Both of us started on Wikipedia
  2. Soon after we began we started fighting over "WooHoo" I think.

Short term memory, so as far as I'm concerned, only 2 things happened in 2010 --Cprice1000talk2me 06:21, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That was frustrating, but looking back on it, it was hilarious, especially since I've changed my mind. XD --Cprice1000talk2me 06:25, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Oh so you're doing the review? Yes! Can't wait to work on it! Legolas and I already did The Fame Monster, no I'm ready to do my second one. --Cprice1000talk2me 06:28, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
That made it sound like I reviewed it. I just worked on it and corrected most of the things, though I should give Lego credit since he took care of all the big things that I'm too stupid to know how to do and not mess up --Cprice1000talk2me 06:36, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Shakira videography

[edit]

When you say videography, you mean something like Britney Spears videography, right? --Cprice1000talk2me 06:26, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

K, yeah, that's a great project to work on! Shakira has so many spectacular video spanning across her career and she deserves this article as much as any other pop superstar, and probably more than most. Again, I love Shakira! :D --Cprice1000talk2me 06:31, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Skylar Grey

[edit]

I put my two cents in on it. And btw, I know you think I'm taking forever on "Not Myself Tonight" but I will eventually fix the composition and critical reception. Lol. I'm being lazy lol. But I keep putting it off because it really shouldn't take that long :) Candyo32 - Merry CHRISTmas :) 06:48, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Holly Brook

[edit]

Sorry, I don't know anything about Brook/Grey, so I don't really feel...qualified...to take part in the discussion. By the way, your message was a bit campaigning – be careful when notifying users of discussions, please. Adabow (talk · contribs) 08:14, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your userpage

[edit]

Hey! I've asked a few people this but, CAN U HELP ME ON MY USERPAGE?? Mine is boring and ESPECIALLY my talk page, and you have to have one of the best I've seen. I don't even know how to link my archives. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I'm not smart. --Cprice1000talk2me 18:32, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, wow thanks! I want my page to just be a bit more colorful, maybe include some of those tabs. If you could give me some templates and instructions, I would much appreciate it! --Cprice1000talk2me 22:23, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Well, that seems like a lot of work. I don't mean to make you do too much :P BTW, I agree with Lil-Unique1, that is an awesome signature! --Cprice1000talk2me 22:26, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I guess. Yay! I love cool userpages! lol Thanks! --Cprice1000talk2me 22:28, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

RE:

[edit]

I wish people wouldn't go around posting and interpreting what I say, as I wasn't even referring to your "Broken Hearted Girl" review in particular, but the massive lead on "Ego." But yeah, I definitely believe that Holly Brook is Skylar Grey, but its crazy that their is no source that says that exactly. Candyo32 - Happy New Year :) 01:47, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Talkpage stalker.... Bill Lamb. from about.com says Skylar Grey, Holly Brook and Holly Hafferman are the same person, -- Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 01:49, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I posted that on the merge discussion yesterday. Now after seeing your extensive evidence, its no reason not to merge, tbh. Candyo32 - Happy New Year :) 01:51, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
There is some evidence, but as I said, how are we going to source it. I say we should hold off until more information is known about Skylar Grey. nding·start 01:52, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Just to let you know

[edit]

Legolas and Candyo32 have been talking about your review of Broken Hearted Girl and they haven't said much good. Saw it as I was stalking talk pages (talk page stalker) --Cprice1000talk2me 23:35, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know if it happened before or after your review, but they are both right, sorry to say. There are some problems, including unformatted references and some spelling/grammar errors. Just some constructive criticism. --Cprice1000talk2me 23:47, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
'It's not as hard as it looks, once you get it memorized! XWomanizerx got pissed at me twice for not knowing how to format my references! lol --Cprice1000talk2me 02:07, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Well, at least you know how to review articles for GA. XD I have no clue. I think that actually with some simple copy-editing, "Broken-Hearted Girl" could be of GA status. Though, we don't need another Single Ladies. "Too many cooks spoil the broth," but Jivesh was persistent. :D I know he only wanted to improve it though. --Cprice1000talk2me 18:16, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

WOOHT! lol You did it perfectly! Now if you can just remember how it goes, you'll see it can potentially be fun. (I know you are thinking like "wwwwwhhhhhaaaatttt?" but I find it fun to make references in formatted form XD) --Cprice1000talk2me 02:04, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'll go through and fix as many refs as I can. --Cprice1000talk2me 02:07, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

0 It's not? Well that explains why it says my status is unknown. Yes, please, since I have no idea how to. --Cprice1000talk2me 03:17, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Are you planning on doing the article? I was just thinking about doing that the other day! Lolll Candyo32 - Happy New Year :) 05:36, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I know. I came into a lot of road bumps when I worked on Headstrong about dates for her singles. Its really hard because now after an albums is released, iTunes merges the singles with the album version. But the reason it is such, if I recall from my own knowledge is because both songs were included on an EP released digitally in December 2010. Then "Be Good to Me" was released to radio, and "He Said She Said" followed. Or something like that... But evidence is really slim on everything.Candyo32 - Happy New Year :) 05:43, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Sure I'll help you. Although its not alot of information about it, I was going to eventually try to get Headstrong as a GA topic. But I really won't be able to start on stuff until tomorrow night. Errgh school tomorrow, and work, work work. Candyo32 - Happy New Year :) 05:47, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Actually I go today (Monday) haha its 12:50 hereee. I wanted to do a lot of stuff on my christmas break to-do list, but i was very lazzzy and didn't lol. Candyo32 - Happy New Year :) 05:51, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm going to bed soon haha. But I do think I have clarification now. "He Said She Said" was first released as a promo single, with "Be Good to Me" later being the first official single, and "He Said She Said" following as the second. Candyo32 - Happy New Year :) 06:31, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
However, it is inaccurate to call them double lead singles or saying "He Said She Said" came first, because Be Good to Me was specifically promoted for radio that March, and "He Said She Said" wasn't until November. Speaking of so far, good work so far, but is the information about the Madonna and Beyonce talk really notable? I put it in the album because it is her first album. Even if it were to be included in a single article, it would rather be her debut single, wouldn't you think, and this is the second. Also the album encompasses all the work, so it's really not relevant on just this one single article, in that case this same information would be repeated on all the articles. Another thing is, I don't think that Common Sense Media is reliable. But I'm not sure, I've never used it because they are a bit iffy. Candyo32 - Happy New Year :) 23:12, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
What? CD Single and digital download in January? Where's the source from? Perhaps it was the lead then. Candyo32 - Happy New Year :) 23:20, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm, but I just noticed that the listing on an Amazon is an import, meaning it was not released here in the US. So maybe it was just released first for international markets. I don't know what to say about it. But since the music video was followed with the radio add, I assume we can just say BGTM was first. Candyo32 - Happy New Year :) 23:37, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, for that we note the promo date with "He Said She Said" first, then official release when in March for Mainstream radio. Candyo32 - Happy New Year :)
Yepp true. Did you see my comment about your current background on HSHS? Candyo32 - Happy New Year :) 23:44, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Rihanna discography: "Making sure"

[edit]

I'd like to make sure you see what I was getting at in my reversion of your edits to Rihanna discography.

In your edit summary, you said, "S&M has a CONFIRMED release date, and all the peaks are correct. I made sure of that." Unfortunately this didn't explain much more than your original summaries (Removing from here, adding to official singles and There), because you didn't say why you were doing that. You said in your latest summary that there is a confirmed release date, but you didn't say what it was or how you knew. Further, and this is what I was trying to explain in my edit summary when I reverted, several of the peaks in for "S&M" in the Singles table were left unreferenced. That is, they were unverifiable for the rest of us. Just because you say they're correct, and that you "made sure of that", doesn't help the rest of us any.

And hey, if you really did make sure of that, it would have been only a little more effort to add the location where you found the info into the Singles table. I've already done this for you; in this edit, I moved refs up from the Other charted songs table for the AUS and US peaks, and re-used one for the CAN peak. I also fixed the lower table, where you left "2010" leaking off into the footer. — JohnFromPinckney (talk) 04:22, 5 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

RE:

Yeah, its very confusing. Ok, only Canada and the US got My Worlds Acoustic while internationally got My Worlds: The Collection. "Pray" was only released in a few international countries, therefore it was only from the international album, My Worlds: The Collection. And you are absolutely right about "Never Say Never", I guess it should be a non-album single then. Candyo32 - Happy New Year :) 01:43, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Well I doubt a new page would be made because it wouldn't meet WP:NALBUMS with no reception basically, and all the songs from previous albums. That's why its really easy to combine it with the acoustic page. Eventually the image could be added, and could be merged how both information from My Worlds and My World 2.0 are both on 2.0's page. But I was just about to say that but I forgot. Knowing how his team work's it'll be some kind of CD released for it, and if not, a DVD/CD combo somewhere down the line. Candyo32 - Happy New Year :) 01:54, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
About the J.Lo thing, I was confused about this because Justin Bieber was in the same predicament. I would go with Island Records, because from what I gather, Island Def Jam is the big company which comprises of smaller labels which include Island Records and Def Jam records. School's alright. I'm a bit stressed now because I have alot of work to finish before the semester. Like I'm supposed to be working on one class I have online now, but as you see Wikipedia has distracted me! Calling the earliest release date promotional is WP:OR. I suspect it was released in December but not many stations picked it up. However because its held strong on the charts they've re-released it as other releases on January 25 are sparse. It needs looking into. I dont like the whole promo singles section of the discog in this case because its not explicitly clear. -- Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 20:46, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The remix wasn't a promo. Both are equal singles from different albums. effectively two singles with the same titled linked by the release of the remix album. clever cross promotion. Surprised there's no mention of this scandal. -- Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 21:21, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm I'm not sure because there is enough information for two infoboxes. Maybe merging them is wrong because the songs were from different albums and both released / promoted as singles. I would consider giving them different articles. They are notable enough as separate songs. Especially since the remix has separate controversy which btw I will not comment on. I dont know what to believe in that respect. -- Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 21:26, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The Signpost: 24 January 2011

[edit]

Not meaning to be rude... but your GA review of WooHoo appears to have stalled. although edits like this are useful they should not be a priority over reviews. You chose to review Woohoo and Candyo32/Cprice have responded to comments but are awaiting for further input from yourself. Please make it a priority to resolve the review. -- Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 03:03, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I know what you are saying (I have a busy sign too...) however reviews are seen as a priority to its kinda disrespectful to be seen to be doing other edits when there is an open review which you started. Do you see my point? If you start something you should try and finish it. -- Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 03:16, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Well its not a massive deal but the people over at GA can get arsey with it seen that the review is nearly approaching one month since start. Also its more about respect to each other. If you've said to Candy you can't complete the review at the moment cause your busy in real life and you'll get back to it soon, that's fine. But then imagine how Candy would feel to see you making minor edits (like above) when you said you were supposed to be busy? -- Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 03:20, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
P.s. good luck with your exam. :D -- Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 03:21, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Flawless? Why thank you... i might nominate it for FA but I'm focussing on When Love Takes Over right now... eek! I was never gr8 at maths either. But good luck m8. I'm sure you'll do ok. -- Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk]

Yepp I agree! But the first cover was still a legit cover, and the first, so it may still need to be the one used. Candyo32 - Happy New Year :) 20:54, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Well per NFCC rules only one cover can be used. And which message are you talking about on Woohoo? Candyo32 - Happy New Year :) 23:26, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It would be very hard for it to maintain GA, because someone would definitely not want it included. The only situation I know in which other covers are used were on The Fame Monster, and this was because the article went in detail about the different covers. It was also used in "Somebody to Love" because Usher was pictured on the remix cover, which is a variation of a scene from the music video. However, with the new NSN cover, its really nothing in particular notable about it, especially since it seems to be the same as the movie poster, and also is the same version of the song, no reason really to have dual covers. Candyo32 - Happy New Year :) 23:35, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I think that the radio add date would come first. But it was consensus a while back that digital/physical release would supercede the radio date. But that was before it was completely understood that the add date identified a US single. Candyo32 - Happy New Year :) 23:55, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please begin talking, not reverting. You are removing many other improvements to the article. The talk page has a discussion thread that you haven't responded to in a while. Gimmetoo (talk) 22:21, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I asked you to discuss. You chose not to. You are now at WP:3RR over a style issue. And you are still not discussing. Now pick a place and start discussing. Gimmetoo (talk) 22:31, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You have made three reverts in a 24-hour period and any other revert could result in being blocked from editing. Aspects (talk) 22:50, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I only warned you because you were the only one to make three reverts in a 24-hour period and looking at the history, it is clear that you were the one that started the reverting today. Aspects (talk) 23:13, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Mmm Papi & Mannequin

[edit]

I'm planning on making pages for these both. Mmm Papi charted and received quite a bit of attention, though a lot was negative. XD Mannequin did not chart, but received quite a bit of attention before the album's release, being the first song leaked from the album and one of the most critically praised. Lace and Leather is another possibility, since it charted and got attention for Ke$ha's vocals in the background. Also, these are some of my favorite tracks from Circus. But anyway, what do you think. I know xWomanizerX will kill me, but I'm going to at least try. Help if you want, I'm quite slow and gathering info and creating the article. Will probably start Saturday. --ĈÞЯİŒ 1ооо 02:16, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know if you're free enough, but, if you are, can you fix Kylie Albums (or Singles) discography up? Novice7 | Talk 14:56, 28 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
My my my... I did not like essays when I was young. Is it something like you have to do research, and read the whole thing to the class??? Or just submit to the teacher?? Yes, covert per Discogstyle. Not now, first I have to fix the lead up. I've got too much on my plate right now :( How am I gonna ever complete all my articles??? Novice7 | Talk 15:01, 28 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Haha... By "young" I meant one or two years ago :P I'm 17 right now. Hmm.. I should really take it slow. Thanks. And, the charts, the US (Hot 100) may not be required, and Austria, Canada, Netherlands maybe. Those don't have many debuts. Novice7 | Talk 15:06, 28 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, US Dance is important, but US main-chart and Canada, AT, NDL are not required. Novice7 | Talk 15:14, 28 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I just checked it out. Yes, US has not much significance. Novice7 | Talk 15:23, 28 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Great! I'll add an "under construction" tag so that others don't mess around with it. Novice7 | Talk 15:33, 28 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'll do some too :) Yup.. They're kinda messed up. Novice7 | Talk 15:36, 28 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Back to December

[edit]

Yeah sorry its confusing! You have to take US dates in context of the artist. Taylor Swift's music is primarily released in the US hence I've changed the date to November 15, 2010. Her singles are VERY rarely released for download and if so they happen a while after the radio release. Also her music is nearly always released in the US first so radio dates are important to keep her chronology in correct order. -- Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 18:00, 28 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This is a rough draft but do I have the general idea?

What Goes Around.../...Comes Around is a song by American recording artist Justin Timberlake. It was released as the third single from his second studio album, Future Sex/Love Sounds, on February 26th 2007. Produced and Written by Timberlake, Nate "Danja" Hills, and Timothy "Timbaland" Mosley, the lyrical content drew similarities to, Cry Me a River, creating much speculation behind the meaning of the song, despite Timberlake’s explanation.

The song became Timberlake’s third consecutive number one hit on the Billboard Hot 100. Internationally the song was also successful as it reached the top ten in countries such as the United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand, Germany, and Australia. It was later certified two-times platinum is Australia, platinum in the United States and gold in New Zealand. Critically, the song received positive reviews. It later won, Best Male Pop Vocal Performance at the 50th Grammy Awards where it also received a nomination for Record of the Year.

The music video for the single was released February 7th 2007 and was directed by Samuel Bayer. It was shot like a short-film and included actress Scarlet Johansson. The video involves Johansson becoming unfaithful to Timberlake, which eventually leads to a car chase between the two and finally Johansson crashing and dying. The video received the award for Best Direction at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards and was also nominated for Video of the Year.--Blackjacks101 (talk) 02:39, 29 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Did you take out the US column? I Help, When I Can.[12] 06:57, 29 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There are no rules saying you can't have more than 10. Six FL's with more than ten right there (guess that was 8, and we should also incorporate the color feature that is used in the Foo Fighters discography. I might do that now). What I am trying to say is that knowledge is knowledge, no one is gonna be appalled that there are 12 instead of 10. I Help, When I Can.[12] 17:07, 29 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Nah, it's not a biggie. Just gonna do the color thing and call it a day on that article. We need to place it up for that recent change blocker thingy. I Help, When I Can.[12] 17:42, 29 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Look at Foo Fighters discography. Those colors. Also, look at The Saturdays. They have that change blocker on there. It's a block, like Semiprotection. I Help, When I Can.[12] 17:42, 29 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I think it looks wonderful. And just wait, the chart-changing-IP-maggots will come soon enough, then we will have a reason. I Help, When I Can.[12] 17:42, 29 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

WikiCup 2011 January newsletter

[edit]

We are half way through round one of the WikiCup. Signups are now closed, and we have 129 listed competitors, 64 of whom will make it to round two. Congratulations to The Bushranger (submissions), who, at the time of writing, has a comfortable lead with 228 points, followed by Zanzibar Hurricanehink (submissions), with 144 points. Four others have over 100 points. Congratulations also go to Greece Yellow Evan (submissions), who scored the first points in the competition, claiming for Talk:Hurricane King/GA1, Principality of Sealand Miyagawa (submissions), who scored the first non-review points in the competition, claiming for Dognapping, and United Kingdom Jarry1250 (submissions) who was the first in the competition to use our new "multiplier" mechanic (explanation), claiming for Grigory Potemkin, a subject covered on numerous Wikipedias. Thanks must also go to Jarry1250 for dealing with all bot work- without you, the competition wouldn't be happening!

A running total of claims can be seen here. However, numerous competitors are yet to score at all- please remember to submit content soon after it is promoted, so that the judges are able to review entries. The number of points that will be needed to reach round two is not clear- everyone needs to get their entries in now to guarantee their places! If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAC, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages, or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start receiving or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send.
