First, I take great offense with your username because it is indicative of the traditions, food, and hospitality of my home in the foothills and mountains of South Carolina in the deep south. Deep fried okra is a dish from MY land, it is something we eat regularly where I was born, raised, have lived for over 50 years and still live. Fried food and our specialty foods such as okra are a pride of ours and are symbols of our hospitality and friendliness. You have taken that symbol and almost ruined it for me due to the inhospitable, condescending, abuse I have had to endure over the last eleven days of my life since signing up for a Wikipedia account. I had no clue people were this mean, inhospitable, and refused to help the newbie.
As of this moment, I have been a member of Wikipedia for exactly eleven days. On my very first day, maybe an hour after I had created my account, while attempting to read the volumes of information about being a Wikipedia member, editing pages, and creating pages and attempting to learn the ropes by practicing on my personal user page, I received a notice that someone with a poem promoting themself on their user page which, at the least is as "bad" as mine was but should be considered worse as the person has no notoriety and really bad poetry about someone who is unremarkable and who has done nothing more with their life than pick on the new person should not be included in an encyclopedia.
This was the rudest, most inhospitable, mean introduction I have ever had anywhere in my entire life - and I worked at ground zero in New York City after 9/11/2001.
And here you are with a symbol of southern hospitality, openness, and welcoming as your username while you are doing exactly the opposite of being helpful and kind. And you certainly do not identify as southern or American. You identify as German first, then you tag on American. I am an American. Full stop. I am from the South with a heritage on this continent that starts at Jamestown in 1607 when my ancestor and his family landed with the rest of the colonists. May I suggest Leberknödelsuppe, Kartoffelpuffer, or Schweineschnitzel as appropriate alternatives.
In the interest of equality and fairness I am requesting you immediately review the quick deletion request here: Editing User:YesI'mOnFire - Wikipedia and act in the same manner you acted on my personal user page. Further, I would like to point out the rules stated here on Wikipedia regarding legitimate, permissible use of a person's User Page. It states the following is permissible:
Significant editing disclosures
  • Things other editors may find helpful to understand.
Notes related to your Wikipedia work and activities
  • Current or planned articles, topic area
Work in progress or material that you may come back to in future
  • Drafts, especially where you want discussion or other users' opinions first, for example because of conflict of interest [significant editing disclosure] or major proposed changes
Everything I had written falls directly into the above areas and is directly related to articles, topics, places, and people which already have existing, well edited and discussed Wikipedia pages. And those pages have been there for years.
Everyone deserves and should be able to expect to be treated with respect and dignity on such a web presence as Wikipedia. If I am mistaken about that and this is truly a hateful place where everyone is stabbing each other in the back as I was stabbed in the back, please delete my account. If I am right, I expect some form of apology and equitable action with the individual who started all of this in the first placr. TFDrayton (talk) 06:32, 11 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
