[edit]This is your only warning; if you use Wikipedia for soapboxing, promotion or advertising again, as you did at Draft:Lawrence and Mayo, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. The draft has been deleted. DGG ( talk ) 05:59, 6 March 2020 (UTC)
Sure, but I have no personal interest to gain from creating a wiki on Lawrence and Mayo. I am an MBA student and did a dissertation on this company as part of the course and could not find a Wikipedia page on it. So I relied on other articles and press releases available on the web. Thought it might be helpful for others in future to find a consolidated Wikipedia page on a 150 year old organisation which is headquartered at the Lawrence and Mayo House, a heritage site in the bylanes of Fort,Mumbai. Notable clients included many prominent freedom fighters of Indian National Movement.
All the information is available widely on the net, and I had referenced the same in the draft.
However, being my 1st engagement as a contributor to the Wiki community, if there was some error on part of the format, I'd request the community to excuse me for that.
I'd respect your decision to not publish my draft if you don't find reason in it. But as part of national heritage as well as being a leading retail chain business in optics, this organisation warrants a Wikipedia page in public interest.
Thanks and regards,

Hello Tarukh Kaul. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially egregious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat SEO.
Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.
Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Tarukh Kaul. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Tarukh Kaul|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}
. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message.
:: Hi @Theroadislong:, I have no personal interest to be gained from creating a wiki on Lawrence and Mayo and there is no financial interest involved either whatsoever. I am an MBA student and did a dissertation on this company as part of our program and could not find a Wikipedia page on it. Thought it might be helpful for others in future to find a consolidated Wikipedia page for some basic references. I am new to the wikipedia community as a contributor and since I have already done some research on this topic, found it suitable to be my first edit. The company being an important brand in luxury retail sector in India, is often a subject of discussion in marketing lectures in B-schools. Also the Lawrence and Mayo House is heritage site situated in Mumbai and is noted for its architectural style- which has been referenced to in the article by Meher Marfatia titled "High Five For Heritage Mile" in the reference section. However, being new to the Wiki community, if there is some error in formatting, I'd request you to help me with that in its rectification. As for the Notability of the subject, for which the draft was declined, I'll be working on that and have also asked for help from @Sulphurboy on his talk page. Thanks, Regards, Tarukh Kaul (talk) 14:16, 1 May 2020 (UTC)
- Please be aware that you are editing under your own name and a simple Google search shows that you do indeed have a very clear conflict of interest. Theroadislong (talk) 14:22, 1 May 2020 (UTC)
