Vandal warnings

[edit]

I am confused by your edit summary in a number of vandalism reversions you have done recently.[1][2][3][4][5] all with the summary{{uw-vandalism3}} This is in response to your edit on John Alcock. You have been talked to about this before. Please desist from doing this in any more articles. Have a nice day or something similar. You seem to be making the implication that these users are connected, but none of them have IPs in the same range and they geolocate to different countries. None of them have edited the page John Alcock, in fact no one has recently, so I am very confused about what you think is going on here. This is also not the preferred way of warning vandals, the template should be placed on their talk page.

I am particularly concerned by this reversion, and this which appear to be reverting entirely legitimate edits. Also this does not seem to warrant a vandalism warning. Care to explain? SpinningSpark 14:25, 24 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there,

All of the listed edits were done through the use of the program called sTiKi, of which I was not 100 percent sure of how to control. I was concerned that I may of done something wrong multiple times involving which side of the change was which. However, despite this, I understand that in the end it is not the programs fault, but mine for not double checking. My humble apology and thanks for bringing this up to me,

Ok, please check all of the links I have given you and self-revert the ones you did not really mean to make. SpinningSpark 20:11, 24 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Pedare Christian College with this edit. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted or removed. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Grafen (talk) 16:34, 24 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The mistake you have made here is that the vandal made two edits in a row and you only reverted the first one. Your reversion restored vandalism the vandal had deleted in the second edit. Common vandal trick to catch you out, watch out for it in the future. The editor who gave you the warning above opbviously didn't spot it either. SpinningSpark 20:17, 24 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
