Speedy deletion nomination of File:JR Speaking.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:JR Speaking.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted content borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hello. A tag has been placed on File:Dr. Janaka Ruwanpura, Vice-Provost (International).jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

[edit]Hello, UCI2017. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article Janaka Ruwanpura, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. - exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).
Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you.
Speedy deletion nomination of File:Janaka-Ruwanpura-convocation.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:Janaka-Ruwanpura-convocation.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only," "non-derivative use" or "used with permission," it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. [1], and it was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19, or is not used in any articles. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:
- state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
- add the relevant copyright tag.

If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Image licensing
[edit]You wrote at File:Janaka-Ruwanpura-convocation.jpg
"Janaka Ruwanpura is the owner of this photo, as well as other photos that have been deleted. Tell me please what type of proof do you accept - an email signed by him and sent from his ucalgary.ca account, or from a personal account? A signed declaration attached to an email? Please advise about this. Second, what's the best license to select when uploading the photos so that they get accepted."
Images need to be released under a free license. As it appears that you are not the copyright holder for the images, then you would need to provide proof that the copyright holder is releasing it under a free license. See WP:DONATEIMAGE for more details about the process for providing the images with appropriate proof of the licensing. Note that the copyright holder is usually the photographer, and not the subject of the photograph. -- Whpq (talk) 18:03, 11 October 2016 (UTC)
