Football Collapsebox

[edit]
  • Fair enough mate. It does look odd that these go there for penalty shoot-outs and not for actual goals though. I would suggest that this is wrong more than it is right, if you check just about ever English club's season page they have the ball before the name for the away side. --MIR17 (talk) 11:42, 27 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • I agree, mate, we should stick to the template, but doing it in non-accordance with the goals for the away team on the left happens on quite a lot of the club's seasons pages. I'd just looked at one's who had done it that way and thought that was the correct way of doing it, which I obviously was wrong about. --MIR17 (talk) 16:20, 27 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dashes

[edit]

Hello, and thanks for taking an interest. No, I don't think MOS:DASH applies only to usage in sentences. It applies also to display structures such as tables, as mentioned explicitly in the sentence "Editors should consider recasting complex measures; particularly where space is not at a premium (i.e. body text and not tables)." The matter was raised some time ago at Template talk:Football box/Archive 1, and appeared to come to the conclusion that the template wasn't MoS-compliant and should be be made so, but it was never done. The fact that some editors prefer a spaced format on aesthetic grounds, combined with the fact that most editors don't care enough to argue, isn't an argument for ignoring the MoS. You may have noticed that your changes to the dashes in 2011–12 Ipswich Town F.C. season were reverted using dashes.js, a long-established script designed to make dash usage MoS-compliant. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 09:12, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Stations

[edit]

Sorry,

If a non-notable line or station has its own article, be bold and merge the article into a parent article such as the company or geographic place article or propose it for deletion.

If you wish to argue that it is notable, please provide reliable, independent sources. Bejinhan talks 06:03, 6 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

When an article from another Wikipedia language encyclopedia is added to this English Wikipedia, it has to meet the guidelines and policies of this Wikipedia. It doesn't work the other way round. Good luck with finding reliable and independent sources for those articles. I Googled and there were none. If you can provide 3-4 reliable and independent sources, I'll gladly withdraw the AfD. Bejinhan talks 06:17, 6 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
{{sofixit}} I repeat, If you can provide 3-4 reliable and independent sources, I'll gladly withdraw the AfD. I don't want a list of Google page results. Bejinhan talks 06:23, 6 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, done. But please note that just because the station exists, it doesn't mean that it is notable. Bejinhan talks 06:38, 6 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Like I said, these sources state that the station exists but they do not elaborate about the station. Going by your rationale, anyone can create articles of all the train stations in the world because according to Google Maps, they exist. Bejinhan talks 11:45, 6 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Want me to challenge you to find reliable sources for that article about the village? ;) I have come across dozens such articles. Yes, they will be expanded by those who know the village. But most do not contain reliable sources and are WP:OR. If you can obtain reliable sources for them, good. But there is nothing worse than coming across an un-salvageable article. Bejinhan talks 04:05, 7 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
And so, that brings me to my point that it is ridiculous to try to find for sources when there are no sources available in the Internet. We have to make do with what we have. And at this juncture, Google is all we have. Yes, these places might exist, but they are not necessarily notable places. Why, if one were to include articles about every town and village in the world, we might as well change Wikipedia's name to Directory of Towns and Villages. Btw, I think this discussion/argument is quite pointless. :) Bejinhan talks 04:14, 7 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Decline speedy at Heath Jarvis

[edit]

Just any FYI, I declined the speedy deletion of Heath Jarvis, an article you tagged for speedy deletion under CSD A7. There is sufficient claim of importance, so I removed the tag. The article is unreferenced, so I added a BLPPROD tag to it. Thanks! jsfouche ☽☾Talk 21:32, 7 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

AfDs, slow down

[edit]

Slow down. Please read and follow the policy of WP:BEFORE in advance of nominating further articles for deletion. I suggest that you might want to first place a Notability tag on articles to seek feedback and encourage the article's improvement, and then after waiting for a while, you might be justified to use a PROD. The first step to deletion is not to go directly to AfD. Also, your practice of AfDing within minutes of a new article's creation (as you have done here and here) is disruptive. Dolovis (talk) 05:11, 13 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

AfD of football players

[edit]

This is just the opposite of what I've been telling other editors. This concerns football player articles you have AfD in which the player is a free agent on an NFL team. It is too soon to add an AfD to the articles because they just might make the team. I've been telling other editors not to add articles because they may not make the team. I've got a list of what 8 editors have submitted. I'm sure there will be some "fun" in deleting articles in a few weeks weeks when they don't make the team. Now the AfD of Andre Branch, who is still in college is a different matter. Bgwhite (talk) 08:11, 14 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article ICarly (season 5 ) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

A page that has a title typo and Is useless because of the article 'List of iCarly Episodes. Should be there, and not in a separate article.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ~~Ebe123~~ talkContribs 09:52, 15 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Bernd Simons

[edit]

For your reference, I have removed the CSD tag from Bernd Simon; the coverage in multiple local news sources is sufficient to pass A7. If you still think the subject is not notable, I recommend taking the article to AfD. I did delete the article on Bernd's wife Judy Simon as there was no claim of significance or importance beyond being a Holocaust survivor. Qwyrxian (talk) 04:55, 24 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

August 2011

[edit]

Hi Vanadus. Thank you for your work on patrolling new pages and tagging for speedy deletion. I'm just letting you know that I declined your deletion request for Bill Couzens, a page that you tagged for speedy deletion, because the criterion you used or the reason you gave does not cover this kind of page. Please take a moment to look at the suggested tasks for patrollers and review the criteria for speedy deletion. Particularly, the section covering non-criteria. Such pages are best tagged with proposed deletion, proposed deletion for biographies of living persons, or sent to the appropriate deletion discussion. I've declined the A7 speedy deletion of the Bill Couzens article due to an indication of importance and/or significance (which is separate from notability). I've also declined in accordance with the G4 criteria, which is only applicable for articles that were previously deleted as a result of community discussion, i.e., AFD. That said, the article is a copyright violation of http://billcouzens.wordpress.com/author/billcouzens/, so the article qualifies under the G12 criteria for deletion. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Cind.amuse (Cindy) 07:30, 27 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Foreign-language articles

[edit]

Hi. Re that article just now (in Somali, I think), WP:CSD#G1 "nonsense" shouldn't be used for articles that are in a foreign language - the definition specifically excludes them. It's meant for stuff like "498jfu60d#$nhre,.gtjkfg##2jm@" or "Yaaaaayyyy LOL!!!!" Often, it's clear enough that a foreign article is an A7-type autobiography, and I zapped that one accordingly, but for what to do in other cases see WP:NPP#Dealing with foreign language new pages. Sorry, you can't A7 a school. (Says so on the label...) To have it deleted will mean PROD as it doesn't show notability. (If it were a high school, it would be automatically notable - only spam, attack or copyvio gets them.) Peridon (talk) 10:46, 31 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

CSD G4

[edit]

Just for reference, WP:CSD#G4 can only be used on articles that have gone through a formal AfD discussion--having previously been deleted via CSD is not sufficient in that case. You tagged the article Kraisit Agnew under A7 and G4, but since the article had never been to AfD, G4 didn't apply. I did still delete the article under A7, and, in fact, salted it because it's been repeatedly recreated. Qwyrxian (talk) 16:18, 4 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
