Vandalism

[edit]

Hey there. The account that you just posted to is a known vandal on Wikipedia - the so called "Wikipedia is Communism" vandal. I've blocked him/her indefinitely already. Check out this page if you are interested in helping to deal with vandalism on Wikipedia :-) --HappyCamper 01:46, 25 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

[edit]

Thank you, glad to be welcome here! ;] The guys in #wikipedia-en-vandalism have been great about helping me learn to rvv! I actually came to it by accident, went to #wikipedia , to ask a question, and was turned off immediately, was about to leave, and someone mentioned the vandalism channel -- soon as I joined, I was hooked ;] Not a bad first day so far, 130+ rvv's in my first 24h ;] (Finally got a msg in my talk! ;] Next ,milestone I'm waiting for is an irritated vandal defacing my user page ;] ) --VileRage (Talk|Cont) 01:58, 25 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Awesome!

Wow, not only did not not have a welcome from an admin here, but you even were bold enough to start reverting vandalism from the start! Here's a nice warm welcome from me:

I hereby award you this vandal whacking stick to help you in fighting the horde of vandals, since you've started doing so on your first day in Wikipedia. Titoxd(?!?) 01:54, 25 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for reverting the united states deletion-and later blanking guy. :) - Mgm|(talk) 11:46, 25 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'd like to thank you for reverting vandalism of my user page. The individual's edits to Maximilian von Spee under the IP address 203.36.44.13 seem to be vandalism (looking at his/her previous edits). Anyway, thanks again! Speedy delete tags

[edit]

Thanks for your great work in adding speedy delete tags. Just be careful about one thing -- a couple of the pages that you tagged actually had been victims of blanking-vandalism, so make sure that the pages that you tag shouldn't be actually reverted to something meaningful. (I'm as guilty of this sometimes.) Thanks! --Nlu 08:45, 23 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for letting me know ;] Yeah, i was halfway thru cleaning up Special:Shortpages and I thought to myself 'gee, I should be checking the histories, shouldn't I?'. I don't know why I didn't go back thru and fix any of the pages I'd previously tagged. Hope it didn't cause you any major inconvienience! ;]. Slightly off this topic, it looks like Special:Shortpages is not updating. Page is exactly the same as it was when I walked away 5 hours ago. Know anything about that? On another sidenote, congrats on passing your RfA the other day ;] --VileRage (Reply|C|Spam Me!*) 14:32, 23 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
No problem at all. As I (and GraemeL) said, it's an easy mistake to make, and I've made them plenty of times myself in the past. --Nlu 16:22, 23 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I was actually coming to let you know that I'd reverted Oxley Wild Rivers National Park to a previous stub rather than deleting it. Seems like Nlu beat me to it and you're going to check the history in future. :-)

I also fixed the broken RFA thanks above. --GraemeL (talk) 14:39, 23 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Waitasec ;] I'm a touch confused here ;] The stub, while it *was* a stub, seemed relevant. Shouldn't I revert vandalism? IMHO, it seems like speedying it (I have no Delete button ;]) would worsen the problem. I could also be thinking of the wrong article, as I think I reverted 50 pages, and speedied 85 last night ;] As always, appreciate the tip however. --VileRage (Reply|C|Spam Me!*) 14:44, 23 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
It was a valid stub which was blanked by a vandal. You tagged the blanked version for speedy delete and I reverted it to a stub. Don't worry about it, I've made the same mistake before myself. --GraemeL (talk) 14:52, 23 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I see now, I had what you were saying backwards (I must have still been half asleep) I thought you were saying i should have deleted it, instead of reverting it! ;] I get you now, thanks for letting me know ;] --VileRage (Reply|C|Spam Me!*) 21:25, 23 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
