Welcome
[edit]Hello Vladovivoda, I just wanted to welcome you and tell you that I am very glad that you created some articles which were missing here on Wikipedia. I will like to invite you to become member of Wikipedia:WikiProject Football (you can add yourself here). I completed and wikified some of the articles you created: Boško Bursać, Vladimir Lukarić, Sergio Machin, Anđelo Milevoj and Milan Radović. Just so you would know, I changed some places because we agreed at WP:Football to use allways the place of birth in the form of city+country using the names at time of birth. Also, the names at the defaultsort don´t use diacritics as that is how English defaultsorting works and if left with diacritics it wan´t read them correctly then. I added the categories as well, and I completed the careers where it was possible. Wikipedia supports that, when possible, we use more than one source, so usualy it is good to have at least two or three. Generaly, the one which is usualy usefull for Yugoslav First League players is Playerhistory as it is among the generalistic football websites the one that has more players from that period. The Reprezentacija.rs is widely used among editors from former Yugoslavia because it has biographies and basic info of all Yugoslav internationals. For players which were not internationals, there was a site zerodic.com which had a complete list of all first and second Yugoslav league players with their stats from 1974 to 1991, however that list is not available on the website anymore, so we are only left with a copy of the data in B92 forum: ordered alphabeticaly by surnames A-E, F-O and P-Ž. Forums are obviously not considered to be a reliable source, but this specific one has been accepted as it is a copy of the refered webiste which had originaly copied the data from the old Yugoslav League almanah´s. If you ever need I gathered some usefull websites at User:FkpCascais/Sandbox17 and if you want you can please feel free to add more links that may be helpfull for us, I will be extremely greatefull. Anyway, I am just glad that more productive editors like you appear to help creating and expanding articles about football from Croatia and the Yugoslav league´s, please feel free to ask me for help if you ever need. I supose you are a Rijeka supporter, so it may also be that I may need your help for some articles. Also, any questions you can always ask at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football where all the major issues about football at Wikipedia are discussed. Congatulations for the articles you created and best regards, FkpCascais (talk) 03:45, 10 May 2012 (UTC)
- Hello FkpCascais. Thank you for your kind welcoming words and for your support. The websites you suggest for future use are very useful. In fact, I consulted reprezentacija.rs before but did not cite it. I've also looked at data from the b92 forum when adding Rijeka scorers in Adriatic derby cup games. I definitely look forward to further contributions and will make sure I cite at least two documents when creating a new page. Please let me know should you require any help with Croatian and Yugoslav entries as I have a lot of info. For instance, I own an old Yugoslav almanac (1978-1986) which can be very useful for player specific data. In terms of Rijeka, I can definitely be of help as I have a book that documents the club's history along with all of the player and game info. In fact, I've decided to add some player entries because some legends of the club did not have one. My plan is to add quite a few more and I will follow your suggestions when I do it. Besides adding all the pre-1992 seasons in the list of HNK Rijeka seasons (which I did a while ago), I would also like to add a game-by-game break down for each season for Rijeka, which would take a bit of work. The only problem is that I am not in Croatia (but in Australia) and can't access newspapers archives for some past periods (I wish I could!), and they've only digitalised them for the past ten years or so. I've encountered issues with finding data I wanted a number of times and short of having full access to newspapers archives it is nigh on impossible for someone 10,000 miles away. Anyway, I've added myself to WikiProject Football and please let me know if I can be of any help. Best wishes, Vladovivoda 23:30, 10 May 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Vlado. Just to let you know that I didn´t forgot you, just that everything has been going so fine so I didn´t intended to interump you. :) I actualy noteced some time ago that many Rijeka players were missing but I never menaged time to make their articles, so that is why I was glad to see you did some of them. Regarding the issue of access of newspapers archives, I live in Lisbon in Portugal, but if you want I can see if I can access some for you and copy/paste them if you want... - Hey, can I ask you something? I suppose you follow soccer in Australia, if not, I apologise for making assumptions, but I just wanted to see what can you tell me about Eli Babalj? Is he good? Will he addapt well in Europe if he eventually comes? FkpCascais (talk) 03:39, 25 May 2012 (UTC)

Rijeka - Famous Players
[edit]Hi Vladivoda, I have added back the famous tag you removed due to major concerns over the relevance and objectivity of the criteria and the fact that the list is far far too long. I have the following concerns about the criteria:
- Played at least 100 league games for the club - This is fine, as it would require a significant number of seasons to achieve, but should be balanced by consideration of the number of players who could achieve it. If it is many then the required games should be increased as the longer a list, the less notable any given player on it is by definition.
- Scored at least 20 league goals for the club - this is not a good inclusion criterion as it could be accomplished in one season.
- Topped the club's goalscoring chart in any season - this is an even worse criterion as in a particularly poor season, the top scorer may only achieve a handful of goals
- Played at least one international match for their national team (not necessarily while playing for Rijeka) - this is also a poor criterion, why should a player who was capped at another club but not a Rijeka be notable for Rijeka when he achieved nothing on the international scene while at Rijeka? If anything it indicates that his worth to the national team went down.
- Played at least ten league games for the club when they were league runner-ups (1998–99 and 2005–06) - another poor criterion, firstly, ten games, which could be all a player ever played for the club is not very much, secondly it is an arbitrary decision and thirdly, they did not actually win the league so I am unsure why this makes them particularly notable.
- Played in at least one of the club's 10 national cup final matches - Another poor criterion which requires a player to only actually play in one game to appear on this list
- Played in one of the six historic European matches against Juventus, Real Madrid and Stuttgart - not an acceptable criterion at all, who is saying these are historic matches? It is OR to make such a claim and again requires a player to only make one appearance for the club to qualify for inclusion.
I also have a major, wider, concern about the length of the list, it is far far too long for such a section. The number of players on it inherently indicates that they are not actually that notable. Given that there are already two sourced listings for all-time XIs, what is the need for this huge list anyway? Please don't remove the tag without addressing these concerns. My view is that this listing should be removed entirely. It is a considerable piece of work and I do not wish to rile anyone, so if my concerns aren't addressed, then I propose the issue be taken to WT:FOOTY to gain consensus. Fenix down (talk) 11:14, 1 September 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Fenix down, and thank you for your feedback. This "notable players" list has been giving me a headache for quite a while, so I really appreciate your feedback. I would be happy for this list to be removed entirely as there is an all-time XIs plus an existing category with all the players that have played for Rijeka. I devised the set of criteria that you engage above after bringing up the issue in Rijeka supporters' forum, and simply followed up on suggestions by other fans. What I suggest is that I shorten the list considerably by including only those players who satisfy ALL of the following criteria:
- Played at least 100 league games for the club;
- Scored at least 20 league goals for the club if forward, 10 if midfielder and no goal requirement if defender or goalkeeper; and
- Played at least one international match for their national team while playing for Rijeka.
- Otherwise, also included are ten of the historical league top scorers and ten most capped Rijeka players.
- Do you think this would be ok? I may have a crack at it, and if you are still not satisfied please feel free to remove the list all together. Best, Vlado
- Hi Vlado, I think the list looks fine now. As long as the list stays around its current length I don't think that it is too intrusive. Also by ensuring that players have to fulfil all criteria it will be easy to check other articles to ensure they fulfil them. Thanks for sorting that out. Derby Rijeka vs Dinamo
[edit]If you can do make an article on that rivalry of Rijeka and Dinamo. In advance thankful. Jolicnikola (talk) 22:52, 4 February 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you for your suggestion. It is the next on my to-do list so I will get it done over the next few weeks. I have most of the info that is required.
Links to Transfermarkt
[edit]The Transfermarkt website contains user-generated contributions and as such is not a reliable source for Wikipedia articles. The template was deleted last year due to this reason. See also here. Please do not add Transfermarkt links back into Wikipedia articles. Thanks, C679 21:12, 19 March 2014 (UTC)
- What website am I supposed to cite then for player transfers other than Transfermarkt?
- If the data is only on Transfermarkt, it is original research. Any reliable information should exist in other places. See similar articles if you need inspiration. C679 05:25, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
re: 2014-15 Europa League
[edit]Hi, please see the talkpage of the article, the difference is that UEFA has also given tromsö 1,5 points for eliminated in play-off, which they actually were before being re-admitted. It is all interpretation of the rules and we have to go by UEFA there since they make the rules and the seeding and they released officiall acccess-list today with the high Tromsö coeficient. QED237 (talk) 00:54, 21 June 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I totally disagree with UEFA and what they've done in this case, but you're right, they're the ones who make the rules.Vladovivoda (talk) 01:35, 21 June 2014 (UTC)
Replaceable fair use File:Coat of arms of Rijeka.svg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Coat of arms of Rijeka.svg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and add the text
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable. - On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 15:29, 26 November 2014 (UTC)
Foreigners
[edit]Hello Vlado, hope everything is fine with you and you had nice Christmas and holydays. I just want to tell you that at the foreigners list I removed Devescovi from Austria because he is born in Rovinj and was Yugoslav/Croatian player that never played for any national team. He later played in Austria and got Austrian citizenship and that is why some websites put him as Austrian. But he is Croatian. The only Yugoslavs added to the list are the ones that played for other national teams. Also, Zijler is under Suriname because he played for Suriname national team. Regards, FkpCascais (talk) 14:52, 25 January 2015 (UTC)
Croatian football league
[edit]Hi, I saw that you have been updating 2015–16 HNK Rijeka season and I want to know if you know the classification rules for the league table (anything that can be used as source). Currently it has been saying head-to-head record if teams have same points but all I can find is this from scoresway saying goal difference. I have tried looking at the league official page but it did not work very well because I dont speak croatian. Do you know the classification rules, and perhaps has a source for it? Qed237 (talk) 22:43, 10 July 2015 (UTC)
- @Qed237: Hey, thanks for the question. It is goal difference during the season but head-to-head record in the final table only, right at the end of the season. The sources would be the rules published somewhere on www.hns-cff.hr or www.prvahnl.hr, but I will have to confirm. (talk) 01:38, 11 July 2015 (UTC)
- Okay, thanks for the information. I tried looking at those pages (with help from google translate), but could not find it. Qed237 (talk) 01:10, 11 July 2015 (UTC)
- If you can find anything, please let me know (no rush and only if you want to). Would be good to source it in the article/table. Qed237 (talk) 01:15, 11 July 2015 (UTC)
- @Qed237: No worries. Here we go - article 42, pages 8-9, it is stated that final ranking is decided based on head-to-head record if it is to decide the league winner, European spots or relegation. Otherwise, goal difference is used: Competition rules.(talk) 10:09, 11 July 2015 (UTC)
- Okay, thank you very much. I will add this information below the league table. Very interesting system (a bit weird according to me) to order some teams by goal differential and the others by head-to-head. Why not order all after head-to-head? But anyway that is the rules, we just follow them. Once again, thank you! Qed237 (talk) 13:18, 11 July 2015 (UTC)
- Feel free to look at Template:2015–16 Croatian First Football League table to see if it is correct. I made the changes with google translate so there might be one or two mistakes. Qed237 (talk) 13:40, 11 July 2015 (UTC)

Totić (Rijeka)
[edit]Hello, are you sure that he is not member of Rijeka anymore? Because Slovenian media reported him as being loaned from Rijeka to Krško, not a free signing? Snowflake91 (talk) 09:24, 3 July 2017 (UTC)
- @Snowflake91: Hey, thanks for your question. Last winter, he only signed a six-month contract. I have access to HNS-CFF database and can verify this. It was also not a professional, but a stipend contract (stipendijski). Rijeka's newspaper (Novi List) also reported that he will be leaving the club this summer, not mentioning the loan. Effectively, his contract with Rijeka had expired and there has been no news of renewal/extension. I will keep on checking the HNS-CFF database and make changes to the page in case I am wrong.Vladovivoda (talk) 09:42, 3 July 2017 (UTC)

Milan Ristovski at Rijeka
[edit]Hello, I was just curious where did you get the information that Rijeka has now completely taken over Milan Ristovski (as so far he was only under loan there)? I cant quite find anything about it when I search. Greetings msb73505 (talk)
- @Vladovivoda: do you mind telling me where you got the info as I rather need to know if it is definite/official or not as I cant find any information anywhere.
- @Msb73505: Apologies for a delayed reply. This was reported in the Croatian press (Sportske Novosti) a few weeks ago. The article did not make it to their website so there is no link I can provide. The new transfers/contracts should be recorded officially by HNS-CFF soon as the transfer window started on 15 June.Vladovivoda (talk) 00:42, 18 June 2018 (UTC)

- @Msb73505: No worries. I have heard that he will be loaned out somewhere in the coming season. Not sure where yet.Vladovivoda (talk) 23:26, 18 June 2018 (UTC)
