Hey, you've got a lot of warnings here but assuming you did this in good faith you should know that linking to fan sites is generally against Wikipedia policy. The problem is that these remixes are not notable, i.e., done by notable composers. Imagine if we tried to include every bit of fan involvement on Wikipedia -- there'd be little room for article content. SQGibbon (talk) 18:59, 7 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added to the page Final Fantasy VI do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used as a platform for advertising or promotion, and doing so is contrary to the goals of this project. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. SQGibbon (talk) 18:43, 7 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Xenogears. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. SQGibbon (talk) 18:44, 7 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. SQGibbon (talk) 18:45, 7 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This is the final warning you will receive for your disruptive edits. The next time you insert a spam link, as you did to Super Metroid, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted preventing anyone from linking to them from all Wikimedia sites as well as potentially being penalized by search engines. SQGibbon (talk) 18:45, 7 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What part of stop are you having trouble understanding? 76.102.52.168 (talk) 03:28, 11 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing because your account is being used only for spamming or advertising. If you believe this block is unjustified you may contest this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first.

Request reason:

acknowledge previous activity was inappropriate-- did not see any messages until blocked.. related question: would it be acceptable to add references to remixes by notable composers such as David Wise or Jake Kaufman? Also: I find personal attacks such as the 'contribution' from 76.102.52.168 offensive and blatantly un-necessary; I am unsure how to file a complaint, but would like to do so. Having read through a good part of the regulations, his/her actions are clearly against the "please don't bite the newcomers" prerogative.

Decline reason:

The "You have new messages" box is very big, bright and clear, and would have been immeditely visible. I see dozens of spam entries, and a block should not have been required to (as 76.102.52.168 says) understand "stop". Additions of any information need to be notable. A remix of a song from a video game - unless it actually charted is not notable, see WP:MUSIC, no matter how "notable" the artist or game was. I am not convinced that you understand the notability guidelines as of yet. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 12:36, 11 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

WP:NSONGS Charting is in no way defined as a requirement for being notable. Any verifiable influential piece, from my understanding, would be considered notable. IE: if in an interview someone responsible for hiring an individual for a major project (such as a AAA video game) said they did so based solely on a remix they did, said remix would be notable-- probably not enough for its own article, but surely enough to place said information on the artist's page and likely the existing paragraph for music on said game. ex: Hd_remix#Music. This in no way charted but should (and by many is) considered influential.

I'm sure the notification is easily readable and findable if you understand it is there.. That said, I would not call it 'large' or 'bright' or 'easily visible' for someone unfamiliar with the site and not looking for it. It was not necessary to block me in order to stop; I would have been happy to had I received any of the messages. Rather, it was necessary to block me in order to communicate with me in any fashion.

It is not as though I received phone calls or emails upon new messages.

In the future, I will not make entries upon topics which I am affiliated without prior discussion (aside from perhaps adding public domain reference images to existing articles where there are currently either none or only very dated images).

Regardless, I will likely need to either be unblocked or create a new account (in violation of terms) in the near future. I will need to contribute pages on stubs or other topics without pages for university coursework (technical writing).

Decline reason:

Threatening to evade a block is not the way to get unblocked. Tim Song (talk) 00:19, 12 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
