Non-free use disputed for Image:COTF.jpg
This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:COTF.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:03, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

Hi! Thank you for awarding me with my first Barnstar. None of us do this for the recognition, but it is very nice to be appreciated anyway. Cheers, WWGB 09:25, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:AngelGW.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:AngelGW.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 09:06, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
Image:Vredgrave.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Vredgrave.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
The fair use template which you have used in the image description asserts that the image is used "for identification and critical commentary on the station ID or program and its contents." However, the actual use is to identify Vanessa Redgrave, a living person. As per Wikipedia:Non-free content, "an image of a living person that merely shows what s/he looks like" is an example of unacceptable use of fair use provisions.
The image has also been tagged for speedy deletion because it does not have a fair use rationale.

WPND newsletter
Thanks for the comment. Yeah, I guess the idea is to make it monthly. I'm not sure if a newsletter like this really contains much that most of the bigtime ND editors (like both of us) don't already know, but I guess it doesn't hurt to keep everyone up to date on project news. If you have any ideas for the next newsletter, don't hesitate to share them. --MatthewUND(talk) 07:13, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

I have a question reguarding your article on William C. Gilbreath. Where in Illinois did they move too? Just need to know not only for the article, but for the categories at the bottom. Thanks.--Kranar drogin 10:35, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

- Please do not remove this tag unless you have provided evidence to the contrary. The ND Governor's website at http://governor.state.nd.us/ specifically states "Copyright © 2007. All Rights Reserved. The State of North Dakota." Most (if not all) U.S. state government products are NOT public domain, but are copyrighted and restricted. Unspecified source for Image:Allina.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Allina.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 02:04, 8 July 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. OsamaK 02:04, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

RE: Your message
Give me a few minutes to look through my deletion record and I will be right with you. SGGH speak! 21:32, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
- Ah yes, the article was speedy delete tagged for being a copyrigh violation by User:Butseriouslyfolks as the text appeared to be lifted from here. I looked at this page and found that the text was copied over from that website with no clear assertion of permission, thus agreeing with the copyright violation. I then deleted the article.
- Because it was a copyright violation I can't list the text here, but if you click the link you should come across the same text. This is as accurate as my memory and records can make it, do you have a question? Don't hesitate to ask. SGGH speak! 21:37, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
the article
<copyvio removed>
If you are going to create a new version having altered the text to avoid copyright violations, be sure to remove the above content so wikipedia isn't left with the text existing on your talk page. :)

Orville W. Hagen
Please stop copying text from websites and adding it to articles as you did with Orville W. Hagen; it really doesn't help anything and in this case led to the deletion of the article. Now I'm having to track down the text before it was deleted so I can re-create it as it used to be. Weatherman90 21:47, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
- I think you misread what was written above. I didn't add any text to this article. I simply tagged it as a copyvio. The person who added the copied text was User:Leopold Samsonite. Also, I have removed the copyvio article above. If you still need to refer to it, you'll find it in your history. Cheers! -- But|seriously|folks 23:07, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
- I didn't think of that. SGGH speak! 23:27, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
- No problem, good luck with the article! -- But|seriously|folks 23:39, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
