I understand the rationale for removing the Charlestown and Washington Street elevateds from the main Orange Line RDT (which was that the previous form of the route map made them look, to the casual user, like the Orange Line was forked on both ends prior to 1975, and like the southern portion of the Orange Line was forked between then and 1987); however, the current form of the route map, with no mention of the former Els at all, is somewhat confusing to a reader wishing to know where the Orange Line's former route diverged from its current one. I'm not suggesting readding both of the Els in their entirety to the RDT—rather, I would like to suggest adding small arrows coming off the current route to show where the previous routes diverged, like the ones used on the commuter rail RDTs to show where abandoned CR lines used to diverge from the current ones (see, for example, {{Fitchburg Line}} and {{Needham Line}}.

Second part of my proposal: since the current northern and southern alignments share commuter rail rights-of-way, I'd like to suggest that this be shown in the RDT (like with {{MBTA Red Line}}). Whoop whoop pull up Bitching Betty | Averted crashes 20:14, 24 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
