Santur

[edit]

My name is Afshin Sadeghi aka User: Santurman I've been playing Santur since I was 5 years old and the son of one of the best Santur players in the world: Manoochehr Sadeghi - there's a page on Wiki I created for him too

The Santur page is constantly getting vandalized by this Iraqi girl.

I convinced her to make a page for the Iraqi Santur which she did, but she keeps coming back on to the Santur page insisting on erasing the fact that the Santur is a Persian instrument. It's really lame.

the Santur came from old Persia and then the Chinese took it from Persian's and call it the Yanquin (foreign instrument) there's really no verifiable proof of exactly when this instrument was made. But it is first mentioned in Persian poetry and definitely came from Persia.

This Iraqi girl insists it's from Babylon and if you read the page: Iraqi Santur her description about the Iraqi Santur is so informationally wrong and is in really poor English with a lot of BS babble.

I'm gathering a bunch of new data to support all the recent tags on the Santur page. After that, How do I lock up the page so no one can keep going on there and Adding 40 fake names of Iraqi musicians etc..???

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks for reverting it back to the norm....

Thanks

[edit]

Nice, That was really helpful thank you.

Well, we definitely went thru some wars. She doesn't want to talk. she just ignores me. Originally she called me a bunch of names and says: "Persians ruined civilization...." She's a piece of work. She doesn't even belong here. doesn't know anything about music, her musical culture or anything about the Santur

So: it's just a cultural battle for her, cause she's Iraqi & bored at home

So no chance of talking to her. I've left her countless messages on her page and tried to swallow it and tried to be civil and offered my help with the Iraqi page. but she ain't havin it :( at any rate, I just got back from Philadelphia from the Ethnomusicology Conference and I have a bunch of material and different references, books, etc.. to use as citations to clean up the Santur page. And will clear all the tags on the Santur page.

I'm going to read what you sent me and get a little more educated on the process.

thanks again, Happy Holidays.

OK. But remember to not use offensive comments against other editors, ethnicities, nationalities, and countries. Winter Gaze (talk) 09:55, 28 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The pages you brought to my attention

[edit]

Hey, there. Thank you for alerting me about those three pages. I have edited all of them, and they are now on my watchlist.

About List of post-metal bands, I think that the article is well-intentioned and could be useful. I also see that it has been promoted to article status, so congratulations on that. The article has even improved since last time I was there. For this type of list, I can't underemphasize the need for sources, due to its subject matter of applying genres to bands' music; for instance, I personally don't get how bands such as Torche and Vintersorg can be considered post-metal, and I haven't heard them be described as such before. Those two assertions on the page also aren't sourced. Overall, though, good work.

Well, it's a fine article. Doing my own research, there really is not a whole lot of information available on the internet about this compilation album. It would be cool if the album's liner notes could be sourced (if there are any), but it's not like that album is readily available under most circumstances. Anyways, it could always use with some more information (given the availability), because the introduction is kind of short, as well as maybe some reformatting. But I don't know if others would agree with me on this, but it could possibly be a start article.

Now this one is a various artists compilation; I actually have heard of it before. One thing I decided to do was to eliminate Category:2010 albums; reason being is that that's a parent category to Category:2010 compilation albums, and is therefore not needed. Also, since the notes section had only one note in it, I moved that info to the intro. The intro is not too short, considering the circumstances (or, at least I wouldn't place the tooshort tag on it) I think that it is a decent article, with not a bad amount of sources. However, this is another album with not a whole lot of information online about it, so someone lucky enough to own the albums and have access to possible liner notes could use that information on Wikipedia.

Thanks for your work, Winter Gaze. Backtable Speak to meconcerning my deeds. 01:47, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

RE: The pages you brought to my attention

[edit]

Did you try submitting the respective pages to Wikipedia:Peer review? Anyways, I have reviewed them, and I think that I could potentially take the tags down down, unless if you want to issue a submission for the two articles at said page. I myself am not exactly sure how peer review submissions work, and it's not my area of expertise on Wikipedia. But since someone other than the creator has reviewed the pages, that someone being me, it could afford to be taken down, I think. RE: Recent edits (references removed by the another user and big changes)

[edit]

Yeah, it's kind of unfortunate about those references not being considered reliable for Wikipedia's standards. I hadn't thought about Discogs in the light of being an unreliable source, as I had used it occasionally to cite certain information on articles. Now, however, I see that there is a "history / edit" section for discogs users, so I guess I see why that one is unreliable. Also, I guess metalstorm.net isn't used as a reliable source for album info due to the editorial oversight, but reviews made 2009 or afterwards by staff members of the website can be used on Wikipedia.
