Proposed deletion of Shorter workweek

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Shorter workweek, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Looks like a school essay

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. —G716 <T·C> 01:41, 6 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Staszek Lem. I wanted to let you know that one or more external links you added have been removed because they seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thank you. Information icon Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. Staszek Lem (talk) 17:10, 7 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon You appear to be promoting the works of a William McGaughey. Please explain your relation to this person. This is required per wikipedia policies about the conflict of interest. Staszek Lem (talk) 17:10, 7 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Mr Lem. I am unfamiliar with the process of responding to criticisms such as yours but will try. Evidently, a posting related to "shorter Workweek" was criticized for "looking like a school essay". Perhaps the language seemed immature or unpolished.

My problem here is that I do not know the specific materials being eyed for deletion and, other than the brief comment, I do not know why these materials were considered unsuitable for Wikipedia - i.e., looked like a school essay. There seems to be a learning curve here in dealing with criticisms but I will try.

  • You did not address my request above. Staszek Lem (talk) 22:27, 7 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • As for "school essay" criticism, it looked like one. YOu would like to know that some school professors started giving assignments to write wikipedia articles. A student just throws it an essay, gets a grade and forgets wikipedia for good. In your case, the article was tagged for deletion and you did not react to this tag as described it it. Since nobody defended the article, its text disappeared. the problem with the article was complete absence of footnotes. Please read the wikipedia policies WP:CITE and WP:RS about providing proof of validity of information you add to wikipedia. Another important guideline is that publishing original research in wikipedia is disallowed. Examples of how good articles must look like may be found in wikipedia's Main Page, "Today's featured article". Staszek Lem (talk) 23:47, 7 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Evking22. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Russellville, Indiana, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you.
