Thanks for the help with the pics. I was trying to get them one on top of the other. Your cleanup put them side by side. Also, tell me about the notability. Is your notability concern merely a verifiability concern? This is really an up and coming company. Look at the press releases from their own website.

Thanks. I'm rather impressed with the creativity and inventiveness that's gone into it, especially Satchel Cohen and his poems and quotes. Pity it's not turned to legitimate ends. Tyrenius 12:01, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, thanks for your support on my RfA. However, I'm not going to get over-confident with 5 days still to go. I'm amazed at your persistence to uncover the hoaxes in the first place. They're damn clever. You must have smelt a rat intuitively. Hermann Rudiger is rather a neat one. Tyrenius 12:14, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've just spotted your comment on my subpage's talk page. Yes, an agency, but there are other pressing demands (which I didn't get done today)! Tyrenius 01:13, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the comment. The articles I was posting are fiction, and therefore I thought Wikisource was a place for that. The writing has always meant to be open source, like the writing of H.P. Lovecraft has in many ways become. If Wikisource is not the place for that, I will respect that. Thank you for pointing me to Sandbox.

Regards, Frequency —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Frequency (talkcontribs) .

Thanks a lot. I know it's pretty much, however some of the articles about Dylan were basically just as long and only about one CD! Maybe I could list each record on the "Blue Guitars" page with a tracklisting and then link to a seperate page discussing echt record? And one more thing: can I only reach you via this User Talk or is there another more direct way, the interface is a bit confusing!

Thanks!

I have a much better idea than your becoming a pain in the hiny to me. I thought you were an admin, but checking LA, I see you're not on it. In this case, I would certainly like to nominate you. You've been on wiki for 5 months and have over 7,500 edits (if I've counted right). I think your conduct, dedication and standard of participation eminently qualifies you. I am sorry, everyone, but I have got serious dibs on this one from way before. I'll be in touch with each of you individually when the time comes. All the best - CrazyRougeian talk/email 23:19, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, that is one sweet sig. I thank each and every one of you for even considering this, but I will have to respectfully decline for the time being, considering Crz's dibs on me, and the fact that I believe I can strive to improve myself. I'm glad to know that people around here consider in high regard. I am quite flattered. Yanksox 23:22, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think your reply only confirms your suitability, along with the quick support already shown. However, it is certainly your right to wait till you feel ready. Crzrussian's view is not to be taken lightly, but I notice he did say "from way before", and not now or recently. Please let me know if you reconsider, or if Crz's reservations should be discussed, as this seems to have been a strong factor in your decision. Tyrenius 00:02, 8 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK, but please make sure to keep me posted. I don't want to miss out on your RfA when it happens, and if you want a nominator, I'd be happy to do it. Tyrenius 00:09, 8 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, that's something else in your favour, and I know what you mean. [5]. Let the shock wear off and see how you feel. With 3 nominators you start with a very strong position. The worst that can happen is that you get some damn good advice for the next RfA. If everyone set such exacting standards for themselves, there wouldn't be any admins! Tyrenius 00:19, 8 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Right, the laugh's on me here. I'm not familiar with the term "dibs", which isn't current (to my knowledge) in the UK. I thought Crz meant serious doubts! I'd be quite happy for him to nom, which means you've now got 3 co-noms! Does this have a precedent? Tyrenius 00:29, 8 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

notability for hotels

[edit]

I left the following on the talk page, but might as well copy it here.

I would be more than happy to write a guideline with a wider scope. The problems I see are two-fold: first it's going to be hard something that's really general but still reasonnably short and clear. Secondly, the task is daunting and the wider the scope the harder it will be to adress all concerns. Still, if either of you is interested, I am more than willing to give it a shot if I get at least some continuous feedback from other experienced users. Award, etc.

[edit]

My reply to several messages is well overdue, and I must apologize for my delinquency; I hope you'll not thence intimate that I've not been altogether grateful for and wholly interested in your messages, but, rather, that you'll understand that it is my wont to undertake projects that turn out to be require more time than I'd have imagined and then to devote myself to those projects to the exclusion of all else. So, that said, a few things...

  • Thanks very kindly for the jocose Frankenstein award; I appreciate not only the underlying sentiment but also the manner in which it was conveyed (notwithstanding, of course, that some individual with a correct (but provincial and all-too-serious sense of copyright law will come soon to my talk page to remove the image, inasmuch as fair use doesn't apply in user space; I may, then, if it's alright with you, nowiki the image).
  • You queried me apropos of adminship when I'd planned to ask you about the same. Not only do I find you at every turn here, but I find you being exceedingly sensible, fair, and perspicacious (to use a word with which our common friend CrzRussian is smitten), and I am certain that you'd make a wonderful admin; I'm sure we'll talk more about that soon.
  • Your gratuitiously cordial assessment of my nom of Crz, to which I never properly responded, was, FWIW, much appreciated. So often am I castigated for my loquacity here (what, me?) that a compliment such as yours, undue as it may have been, was very well-received.
  • Most importantly, of course, I must ask about your username. I happened upon a conversation between Crz and you with respect to the Yankees, but I wasn't able to discern where you allegiance lies. I am perhaps the only person on Earth who thinks one can support contemporaneously the Yankees and Red Sox, and I wonder if I've found a like-minded individual (or, at the very least, someone who can disinterestedly [cf., uninterestedly] watch and analyze Yankees-Red Sox games). Boston has long been my favorite town, and I'm drawn to John W. Henry, a Democrat; Theo, whom I'd love, gorilla suit and all, to emulate; and, inter al., ManRam, 'Tek, and now Mike Lowell, whom I followed when he was with the Marlins. At the same time, I liked many of the mid-90s Yankee teams and like Jeter and Giambi (from his A's days), to name two. When the teams play, I root, as everyone must, for the Red Sox, but I'm not so doctrinaire as to oppose the Yanks categorically (I preferred the Diamondbacks in '01, mainly because I enjoyed following Gonzo and Craig Counsell, and the Marlins in '03, having liked almost every position player on the team and thinking that rotation—including 2006 All-Star Mark Redman :)—to be hella good, but have otherwise not been averse to cheering for the Yanks).

In sum, you should know that your excellent work does not go unnoticed and that my failure to have replied to you sooner stems not from any indifference on my part but rather from my idiosyncratic and obsessive tunnel vision. Have a good one... Joe 23:11, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of Diskothi-Q

[edit]

I noticed you flagged Diskothi-Q for possible non-notability. I'm new, so I may have the standards wrong -- the name of the band was a red link from Peter Hughes; when I went there, it suggested that I write an article, so I did. It looks to me like Diskothi-Q passes at least two of the tests in Notability:Music:

"Contains at least one member who was once a part of or later joined a band that is otherwise notable" -- Peter Hughes is now in the very notable Mountain Goats.

"Has released two or more albums on a major label or one of the more important indie labels (i.e. an independent label with a history of more than a few years and a roster of performers, many of which are notable)." Diskothi-Q released two albums on Shrimper Records, certainly an important indie label.

Let me know how to handle this best -- should I add explicit references to Mountain Goats and Shrimper Records in the article? Consider merging it with the Peter Hughes article? Or given the above do you consider it notable as is?--Strabismic 05:07, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My dear Nick

[edit]

My dear Nick, I am completely speechless and deeply moved by your incredibly kind words. I am so honored that you hold me in such regard, although I really feel I don't deserve so much praising - there's nothing extraordinary in trying to offer a bit of kindness to those in need; in fact, not being able to help others with a tiny bit of love, which is what makes humans different and wonderful, should be the exception. You, for example, with your kindness, have brough me a spark of happyness in a moment I needed it, and for that, it joys me to offer myself as your friend from this day on.

This may surprise you, but I have seen you, since many months ago. Yours is one of those names that, when I see your signature, it makes me want to read what you have to say, because I know how thoughtful and sensible you are. I have seen how beautiful people both you and Srose are, and the brightness that the love you share sheds over this place. It is because of things like this that I keep on believing in us as a community; if two people who love each other can show us something this beautiful, then only more beautiful things are destined to stem from here.

Oh well, forgive my cheap philosophy, dear Nick - and my sad mood, it'll pass. Just, thank you, for everything - your words, your thoughts, and for all the good things you do here. They are incredibly valuable, and most appreciated, I give you my word for that. Have a great day, give my regards to your beautiful girlfriend, and I hope to see you around, real soon. Should you ever need my help, you know where to find me, right? :) Big hugs, Phædriel tell me - 06:05, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

nn Events in Date articles

[edit]

I'm going to guess that you did not refer to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Days of the year prior to reverting my edits on article June 25. Please do so. You will see that product releases, elections, sporting events, and most musical or entertainment events do not count as significant events (I did leave in Ireland's 1st election). I've been closely involved in this project for many months, and I'm well familiar with the standards. I'll revert the article back to my original deletions. If you wish to make any changes to these deletions, I ask that you discuss each one individually on the article's talk page. Rklawton 22:07, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Per your note, please feel free to add your thoughts to the project page. Diverse opinions make Wikipedia the success it is. As far as date events go, the general idea is to note those events that appear to affect the overall development of the human race. Rklawton 22:52, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

soler article

[edit]

Greetings, Yanksox. While I appreciate your vigilant editing of Wikiipedia and concern over the Andrew Soler article, I do wish to defend the validity of the article. For some time now, Soler has drawn a following among noir, underground readers and deserves mention in Wikipedia. He is not a complete unknown, as his works have stirred original discussion in and around California. That being said, I have to wonder why, exactly, you would deem the article inappropriate. Please respond.

This is a good week for you guys, I made a MASSIVE update, the list has pretty much doubled in size! It deals with most typofixing that starts with "A". This was very hard work but when/if I complete it it will be amazing.

Comic Strip Live page editing

[edit]

The co-owner of the Comic Strip Live and I discussed adding a page to wikipedia today, as per what I wrote for the High School of Art and Design. I told him I knew how to put the page together, with links, bold type, etc., and showed him the Art and Design page I created. I asked him to give me some historical copy about the comedy club to put on the page I would create for wikipedia and he told me to take the copy from their website. I am writing and editing as I go along and see I am continually interrupted with comments but the page seems to revert to the original. How shall I proceed? I don't have a hell of a lot of time to spend on this.

Yvonne Fitzner

"speedy tags" and "bots"

[edit]

I have no idea what either are, and I will try and re-write the copy for the entry. I didn't care for it that much anyway but I was trying to avoid having to spend time writing something myself. They should have given me something else to go from. This is what happens when you try to do someone a favor.

Maybe I will just leave an opening sentence on the page for now. Can we remove the whole thing, please? So that I can start over?

I have other things to do tonight. Yvonne

Sorry, this is too much for me at the moment

[edit]

This is all too much for me to digest (and learn) at the moment. I am not into chat rooms...

I got lots of work to do. Ciao!

And thanks for the replies, though I barely understand half of what you wrote.

Hello! =) I made lots of contribs today.

BTW, going out for dinner, so probably won't be back til 7... but you can call my cell and say hello.

Love, Sable

  • I should created a "This user is very loved" userbox just for you. :P I simply adore the sockpuppets on Zelda Comics' AfD. >< (Yes, that was sarcastic - although after two years of me I'm sure you realize that. I'm charming. :P) Srose (talk) 04:10, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

New User Discussion Page Post

[edit]

Hey, so you posted a nice welcome message on my talk page when I signed up. Is there a script that does that? or do you watch the new user list 24/7 and post right after someone new registers? If thats the case, is there a page that will arrange users by their ID number so I could tell who is new? The current user page displays alphabetically making it hard to find who the new user is on my Wiki w/o going into the mysql database to see the names listed in chronological order. Anyhow, I thought that was a great feature to introduce new users to talkspace and a clean set of links to visit for refernece and for help. Oh help, also then how does the helpme template work? Is there an extension that tracks all pages with that tyemplate and then logs them to a special page somewhere where people can go to see who needs to be helped? As you can probably guess, I am working out some new user kinks in my Wiki currently. Most everyone on it has never used on before and I'm desperately trying to make it more user friendly. Thanks, --Clf23 22:25, 12 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand what's going on

[edit]

I found another message about the page I wrote for the Comic Strip Live recently saying it is lacking a citation. But it doesn't say what on the page is lacking the citation, only what to read about citations. I am sorry but this whole thing is driving me crazy. There are other comedy clubs listed on Wikipedia so I suggested the Comic Strip get one, too. The co-owner suggested I do it, since I did so well editing the page that was already up for the High School of Art and Design (from which I graduated in 1960, by the way). My first attempt was using the copy from their website, which was rejected by Wikipedia as a copyright infringement. So, that was killed entirely and I wrote what I could using some of the information given me by the club owner. I thought we were done with this -- until this morning's message.

I am clueless as to what is going on; I cannot understand the terminology -- no one has yet explained what a "bot" is! I also have no time to keep making changes to the Comic Strip's page. No one tells me where to go to reply to a message left, thus I am going back to YOURS.

I have other things to do, like trying to earn a living and trying to find a new job (since I am presently unemployed). Making for complications in that department is the fact that my employer of the last 7 years refused to pay me any benefits, or pay his FICA obligations, unemployment insurance, etc. He got around it by having me work [4 days a week, at his office] as an independent contractor, and had me sign a contract. So it is now my responsibility to prove to NY State that I was really an employee and am eligible for unemployment benefits. This will take weeks, maybe a few months, before it gets decided. Complicating matters is an unexpected issue that developed with the Social Scurity Administration. So, I have my hands full, and no income, and can't keep playing with this page.

Could someone just explain in plain English what the problem is, and how I can clear it up? Don't send me to a page where I have to print out 7 to 26 pages of reference material, which leaves me wondering which is for what, and what it is that I need to fix. I need to move on to other projects.

Yvonne

Help me to get botted

[edit]

Hi Yanksox, I hope you are the charming Srose are well. I wonder if you could help me out, as I think I want to use the Werdnabot automatic archiving bot, maybe archiving 50 edits at a time. How do you set it up, as I don't want to end up archiving the whole of wikipedia by mistake! Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to tweak my talk page for said purpose. I would quite like to have an attractive info box saying it's being Werdnabotised but that's not essential. Thanks. Tyrenius 02:35, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the swift reply. I've had a go at changing the parameters and pasting it in, but it doesn't look right to me! I already have 1 archive, so I've tried to get it to start with Archive 2. I'd be grateful if you could mend it. Ta very much. Tyrenius 02:56, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it's looking the part now! Can the parameters be changed to 30, or even 20 days? Also the bit about not archiving if there's not time stamps. What does that mean?

Re. your archive rediscovery, I'd already checked that out and it was a strong factor in your favour re. my recent suggestion!

Tyrenius 03:06, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you kindly! I presume at some point I look and half the page has disappeared (into an archive). Yes, when the Satchel Cohen business started up, I recalled your name and checked out that other incident. You were most restrained and level-headed. Can't be bad. Tyrenius 03:11, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'll see what happens in a day or so. (manually). Tyrenius 03:15, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

And here I am with the Old England weather (sunny and mild)... Tyrenius 03:20, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, cheers! I hadn't even noticed! Does it automatically start a new archive when it thinks the old one is full, or do you have to do that manually? Tyrenius

Red Sox

[edit]

Glad to hear that you're on the good side of things. As I noted, I'm not a Yankees hater, but I certainly prefer the BoSox to the Yanks; all reasonable people must (of course, I'm not so deluded as to think David Ortiz more deserving of the '05 AL MVP than A-Rod, but...). In fact, I'd give you a barnstar for your level-headed supporting of the Red Sox, but I suppose that sort of think is frowned upon; in any case, you've a ridiculous amount of well-deserved barnstars already. Yet another reason for me to support your (ideally forthcoming) RfA; of course, Srose's being a U2 fan (and having supported Italy over France in the WC) cuts the other way, so we'll call it a wash. About those barnstars, btw, I think one can honestly conclude that you've done more in the five-plus months you've been here than nearly any other user (at least any user of whom I know) did in his/her first four months, both, remarkably, in both mainspace and project space, maintaining, all the while, that long-sought real life. mboverload’s AWB Typofix update – version 0.0.4

[edit]

You are getting this weekly update because you are signed up on the spamlist for updates about mboverload's magical automatic typofixing settings for AWB
Important Update - removes entries that make incorrect replacements – must have update

500 lines of new code, of which include at least 1,500 different possible matches, probably more! I’m up to “d” in the words to replace. Even after I get to Z (a few months) there will be a lot more to do because there are more varieties of each word to replace. One line can match 10 or more different variations of each word, so saying that I added 500 lines does NOT mean 500 new words – It’s more!

I now have a Sourceforge.net project!

Oh, you like it? Well please be my guest to use it. ;p I actually got the idea of doing it before I saw yours. You use a different method on your page and I was checking out how it worked. As it would be silly and laborious to handwrite the links when they were sitting in front of me I simply stripped off your text and markup and put in my name. I guess I missed one. In all fairness, the order of the links is the way I had them originally and how they appear in Essjay's new admin box.
