Well done for your expansion of that article, which I've not touched for a while because of certain elements. Could I suggest that you get rid of all inline cites (using external links in the text)? Rather, it might be better to turn them into proper references. Let me know if you need a hand with that. JFW | T@lk 20:10, 18 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. In an attempt to achieve agreement to remove the Neutrality tag from the Assessments section of this article, I have edited down what some have seen as the undue weight of laudatory comment in this section, and am now requesting feedback at the article's Talk page. Hi. Everything you add must be sourced to a WP:BLP article. Please read WP:BLPREMOVE. If you continue to add unsourced info into a BLP article, you risk being blocked. Thanks. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 10:58, 21 March 2015 (UTC);;I will go on nd add the necessary references. Please show some patience with other users. YellowFratello (talk) 12:18, 21 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

No, you show some patience with long-standing established policy. Quite frankly, what you've written is shit. You should NEVER add anything to a BLP (or anything else for that matter) without sourcing it first. This is your only warning, you'll will face a blocking next time. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 17:45, 21 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Lugnuts. I have taken a while to consider my reply to this. In the meantime I have added reference etc to this page. I do hope you consider the content of your reply. Had I not been a fairly self-confident person with many years of editing behind me then I might have been really upset. Talking to admin friends they too worry that such emails would put off new or less experienced editors. (Personally I believe the use of words like 'shit' is not really appropriate in dialogue with a stranger on a wiki.) We really need to encourage people who make edits, even if we feel they have made mistakes rather than flying at them. I hope you take this in the reconciliatory way it is meant. Regards and happy editing YellowFratello (talk) 10:55, 30 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. I am just a regular editor and nothing official like an administrator or Wikimedia contractor...I am an editor probably a lot like yourself. One important thing for me is to express thanks to other editors in a personal message to their talk page. This is not a template. I am just leaving this note for you to express my appreciation for your recent participation in voting for Arbatration Committee Members. Your vote is a great thing and with as many people participating as possible there is an excellent chance that we will have good representation on this committee. The Very Best of Regards,

Celador

[edit]

Regarding Celador and cellar door: the reason for not putting the Donnie Darko snippet in the Celador article is that it's no more relevant to Celador than any of the other examples on the cellar door page. The production company existed first, and nobody's ever suggested that it was the inspiration for the phrase appearing in Donnie Darko, they just both happened to refer to the same pre-existing phrase. If you put the Donnie Darko fact in the Celador article, then you may as well put any random fact from the cellar door article on that page. Which you don't do, because the article is about Celador, and the other stuff, including the bit about Donnie Darko, isn't. In a nutshell. --Walnuts go kapow (talk) 22:37, 16 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Leapfrog Press Global Fiction Contest Prize has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

$150 prize - zero in-depth coverage in searches, fails WP:GNG.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Onel5969 TT me 14:52, 26 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I wrote it in a neutral way as I have always done as an experienced editor - I am not a part of the prize and have never applied for it but it is a gateway for a lot of minority authors as can bee seen by the link. They will not be J K Rowling rich or get the publicity of the Booker but it has been a footstep to being published - the prize money is irrelevant it is about access to and has proved itself the quality of the judges is high. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Carducci String Quartet requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://carducciquartet.com/about/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. The guy is a prolific writer and journalist published in all the quality UK press plus with a book that has passed muster with critics. The citations are largely of his work but they are published in places of real repute, the places we rely on for citations.. Others like me will want to know more about him and that is why we need a page about him.
I could just remove all the citations that start with his name but that would not help those looking for his work.
I see many other pages about writers that are similar and think this needs to be reconsidered. He has an established position at UCL, a book and is constantly published in the UK quality press. YellowFratello (talk) 09:05, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
