Peer Review

[edit]

Hi there, yes happy to help. Would be useful for someone to cast a fresh pair of eyes over the article. Mcwesty (talk) 20:16, 12 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ok im on it. Cheers Mcwesty (talk) 17:54, 25 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ex Terra

[edit]

hello yoostar. i'm not sure if you know this, about the Ex Terra statue, but when it was unveiled in 1965 (present location as of 1991 is at the bus station) it was the one that paved the way for GDC to appoint a town artist due to its success and which resulted in the many artworks scattered across the town. this information which i picked up from reading the books, "History of Glenrothes" and "A New Town's Heritage: Glenrothes 1948-1995" when doing reference work for page numbers, a while back, should be included on the article. however, i would still like you to check.Kilnburn (talk) 23:44, 12 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Glenrothes page

[edit]

Yoostar,

page is looking great. Nice to have a fresh pair of eyes cast over it. I've looked at it so often I have been missing things and I ran out of fresh ideas on what to add to improve it. Once copy editing is complete we should submit it for FA approval. I'm going to see if I can get some others with good grammer skills to cast their eyes over it to help. I don't think there will be a need for major edits now. I think the article contains enough information, so I expect any further edits to be minor.

Mcwesty (talk) 12:58, 13 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. Could you hold off editing more for now. I have some people checking the article for grammar and prose. 86.163.223.60 (talk) 21:23, 1 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Glenrothes parks need to be indicated

[edit]

i have been looking at the culture and community section on the article. because the town has numerous parks, instead of giving a list of all the parks/open spaces. it would be a good idea to emphasise where exactly each of these parks are located within the town. for example, Balbirnie to the north-east of the town. Kilnburn (talk) 19:53, 1 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding Yoostar's question on the FAN talk - the list is indeed a bit dry, so some additional brief information won't hurt. However i think simple locations offer little value to the average reader. Skimming through source 102, an exceptional 84 % of Glenrothe's population has access to neighbourhood greenspace - maybe that helps to add more context. Something like "As a consequence 84 percent of the town population has neighbourhood access to greenspace,[102] including numerous parks like Balbirnie Park,[62] Carleton Park,[99] Gilvenbank Park,[100] Riverside Park,[101] and Warout Park.[102][103][104]". Most parks seem to be standard recreational and sports parks, so i wouldn't add details to every single one. GermanJoe (talk) 10:35, 6 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

suggestions about Glenrothes article

[edit]

Posting them here, as they are not directly related to FA criteria.

  • Why was the GDC dismissed 1995, any specific reason? As the GDC apparently was one of the most influential institutions, it may be worth adding that to history.
  • Looking at the first "governance" paragraph handling GDC's history and the "history" itself, both sections have a huge overlap (almost all details in GDC governance history, except 1 or 2, are stated in general history aswell). Suggestion - just remove the whole first paragraph of "governance" and work the missing small bits into general history (you have already 2 paragraphs there dealing with GDC, where the additional info could be included easily). Advantages: avoiding redundant information, having the whole history including GDC history in one section and limiting "governance" to today's actual governance situation. GermanJoe (talk) 10:47, 6 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Good advice thank you. I'll read the books and add some more information and do as you suggest with the governance section.Yoostar (talk) 09:47, 9 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Pictures

[edit]

Hi Yoostar,

you've been very quiet the last while? I hope your not too disappointed with the outcome of the FA review...? We'll get there! A few copyedits and it'll be ready. I appreciate the work you have gone to so far.

Anyway I wonder if I could get your opinion on a few things. I have been asked by another editor to pull together some pics of Kirkcaldy into a "collage" as he calls it. I have posted two examples on my userpage using images recommended by him. Could I get your thoughts on it please?

Thanks, Mcwesty (talk) 10:45, 24 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Great thanks for the input. Hope you enjoyed your holiday? My friends are going through the article line by line. I had hoped to have heard back already, but they are obviously being thorough. Hopefully will get some feedback shortly.

Glenrothes - name of Scottish parliamentary constituency

[edit]

Does "Central Fife" in infobox need to be changed aswell? The "government" section mentions a name change in 2011 (just checking in from time to time to improve some minor stuff). GermanJoe (talk) 18:52, 9 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Yes well spotted. Yoostar (talk) 18:55, 10 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Article

[edit]

Hi Yoostar,

sorry not been on Wiki in a while. My friends are taking longer than I had hoped. I will keep chasing the matter. Hopefully they will get back to me soon. Mcwesty (talk) 09:33, 7 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Kirkcaldy

[edit]

i'm wondering if you can do some copy-editing work on the article for me; checking prose and grammar. just let me know if you are unable to do so. Kilnburn (talk) 16:43, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
