Automatic or Manually Assisted: automatic
Programming Language(s): C#
Function Summary: removing {{album}} tags from redirects' talk pages
Edit period(s) (e.g. Continuous, daily, one time run): continuous
Edit rate requested: 1 edits per 10 seconds
Already has a bot flag (Y/N): Y
Function Details: I'd like to blank over 500 talk pages from the list of redirects with the {{album}} tag on their talk pages. Alternatively, I could redirect the talk pages accordingly if or delete them if my bot was given admin rights. I'm not sure what is the most appropriate action in this case so please share your thoughts. If the task is approved I'd like to do this regularly. Jogers (talk) 18:38, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Discussion
[edit]Hm. If there is no discussion on the page, besides the album template, it should just redirect to wherever the redirect page goes to. Otherwise, just removing the album template is fine. GrooveDog (talk) (Review) 00:56, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- It should just remove the {{album}} tag. The talk page should not be redirected, so that discussion could occur about whether the redirect is pointed to the right spot, or a possible change to disambiguation and to preserve old content. :: maelgwn - talk 06:42, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Sure, I can do that. Jogers (talk) 13:12, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- OK, so we'll say just remove the {{album}} template, don't redirect it. Approved for trial (50 edits). Please provide a link to the relevant contributions and/or diffs when the trial is complete. —METS501 (talk) 02:47, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Done without major problems. Jogers (talk) 13:11, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- The only problem I saw out of all the edits was that it removed {{album}} from Talk:Back to Basics: Live in Australia when the article was not a redirect. Is there a reason this happened? — madman bum and angel 02:02, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- That's my mistake. I manually added this page to the list of pages to be processed by the bot. Normally, the bot would prepare such list for itself. Jogers (talk) 11:19, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
