The result of the debate was delete 2007, keep 2006 --Kbdank71 14:28, 30 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia is not a crystal ball. Same for Category:2006 births, Category:2006 deaths and Category:2007 deaths.
- Keep. Those articles will exist someday. There are plenty of other pages and categories that have been set up as templates/placeholders to be used when the time comes. If nothing links to them, then what's the problem? — BRIAN0918 • 2005-11-22 17:32
- Delete categories for 2007, keep categories for 2006 - we don't have to create the category on the run. Thelb4 17:35, 22 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete categories for 2007, keep categories for 2006. Carina22 19:51, 22 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
- KEEP, the gestation period for an elephant is 24 months, IIRC. 132.205.45.148 20:03, 22 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
- keep why bother when the category will be created sooner or later anyway. -- Mkill 00:16, 23 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep and let's focus on more useful decisions. --Vizcarra 04:51, 23 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete. Apparently Wikipedia really is a crystal ball!! If the articles will exist someday, the category can be created just as easily someday. --Kbdank71 20:50, 23 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete. Unnecessary clutter. Add it when it is needed, otherwise a rule is need for how many years out categories can be created for. --StuffOfInterest 13:00, 24 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep all. What was the point of this nomination? CalJW 14:09, 24 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete. If this weren't on CFD, I would have speedy deleted it under CSD #C1 for having no articles in it. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 01:33, 29 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep 2006 Categories as there is now only a month left until they are needed. Delete 2007. CG janitor 23:56, 29 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
- 'Delete-Clutter. Lets cross the bridge when we get there.--Jondel 08:57, 30 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

A bad idea. Being used for people (4 of them) so merge into category:Cuban people. CalJW 10:42, 22 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the debate was delete --Kbdank71 14:48, 30 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Places categories are deprecated as needlessly vague and as duplications of the standard buildings and structues and geography categories, and several have been deleted previously. This one contained a random handful of articles (a town, a theatre, a neighborhood, Ernest Hemingway's house) which I have moved to their proper locations.
Delete CalJW 10:25, 22 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete as per nominator. Bhoeble 12:38, 23 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete - per nom. Thelb4 16:22, 23 November 2005 (UTC) (Delete)[reply]
- Keep/Retain. There are Category:Star Wars locations , Category:Bible places, Category:New Testament places and Category:Torah places. I don't see anything vague with the meaning of place. Buildings and places have totally different meanings. --Jondel 06:42, 24 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete Countries have a complete geography but the range of places named in fictional and religious works is selective. Empty in any case.Osomec 14:11, 28 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the debate was rename as nominated --Kbdank71 14:50, 30 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
All the other 50 subcategories of category:Dramatists and playwrights by nationality are in the "dramatists and playwrights" form, which has long been established as preferable in order to avoid confusion and duplication.
Rename CalJW 07:41, 22 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Events is a problematically vague category as any historical event could be placed in it and therefore is not normally used. I have set up the standard Category:2005 in Malaysia and Singapore and placed it in Category:Years in Singapore and Category:Years in Malaysia

The result of the debate was no consensus --Kbdank71 14:52, 30 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Not all of the articles in this category resulted in crashes. The specific example I stumbled across was British Airways Flight 5390, which suffered a mechanical failure but landed safely. Since there aren't a lot of entries here, renaming to a more inclusive category seems more reasonable to me than splitting it up even further. Bryan 01:04, 22 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

- Keep, because not all mechanical failures are accidents. Some are intentional. 24.170.177.163 06:47, 26 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
- That still leaves the category incorrectly named for the non-crashes, though. How about "Category:Airliner incidents caused by mechanical failure" instead, since that's the other option presented in the parent "Accidents and incidents on commercial airliners" category? Bryan 07:50, 26 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep, this is under [:Category:Accidents and incidents on commercial airliners], and there are a large number of categories of the form "Airliner crashes caused by ...". We shouldn't change just one.--Prosfilaes 01:13, 28 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep . This is more specific.--Jondel 08:55, 30 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
