Wikipedia:Don’t burn yourself

This page in a nutshell: In order to prove an editor is an undisclosed paid editor or a banned or blocked editor evading a block to perpetuate undisclosed paid editing whilst feigning to be a new editor, remember not to burn yourself in the process. |
It is pertinent that all good faith editors, and anti spam/upe editors in particular, remember that we edit Wikipedia as a hobby and not a job. Do not jeopardize yourself in order to prove an editor is engaging in undisclosed paid editing or that a new editor isn’t new but an experienced banned or blocked editor evading a block. If you have cogent evidence, submit it to the appropriate venues and leave the rest to the community, if not, do not obsess about it lest you inadvertently get burned by the fire you lit. In bids to expose undisclosed paid editors, system operators as well as editors have respectively been de-sysoped and indefinitely blocked for this even though their motives were in good faith and had the best interest of the collaborative project at heart.
