Did you know that an early demo of Metroid Prime Hunters, called Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt, was included as a pack-in game with the Nintendo DS when it first launched?
- Images: Two cover images (the main one, along with the cover for the demo) and one screenshot.
- Sources: Standard references, except perhaps GamesRadar. It's used only for its review; have a look here for more information.

Comments - sources look okay, links checked out with the link checker tool. Ealdgyth - Talk 13:22, 14 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Currently oppose based on images.
- I'm not seeing how the non-free pack-in art (File:Firsthuntdemocover.jpg) is acceptable per WP:NFCC. The art is not commented upon in the article, the caption is merely explanatory and redundant with body text, and the rationale is weak.
- For quality concerns, I think going back to the original source of File:MPH Multiplayer.jpg and cropping out the black bars on the left, right and top would be nice, as they increase the quality of the important part of the image without increasing overall resolution. Speaking of sources, where did the image come from?
- File:Mph cover updated.jpg should be shrunk to 256px horizontal resolution to be appropriate infobox res.

- Done Gary King (talk) 18:55, 14 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- You might still want to have a little black space between the screens, to make sure people understand they are seperate, but that addresses my concerns. I'll do a more thorough review later. Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs (talk) 19:01, 14 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Support - you complained, but still decided to improve the article. That's a Wikipedian to admire. igordebraga ≠ 23:57, 14 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

- "As the game begins, the Galactic Federation requests that the bounty hunter Samus Aran investigates a mysterious message originating from the Alimbic solar system." Spot the simple grammatical error. Also, some context for this Galactic Federation?
- "a creature named Gorea had destroyed the peaceful civilization that once lived there, the Alimbics." Third article in a row on FAC that I've looked at that chooses to use the weak perfect tense when a stronger alternative works better. Is this some trend?
- "Before it could do more harm, the Alimbics " Weren't they destroyed?
- "Six other bounty hunters pick up on the transmission" "Pick up on" meaning intercept?
- Development section oddly starts with information on the demo, and not on development. Wouldn't it make sense to order this section chronologically? Moreover, there is no context for the game's development. When did development start? What was Nintendo's motivation for developing the game?
- "It was considered a phenomenal game by GameZone," Just crying out for recasting from passive to active.
- "Despite a few "small quirks", GamePro nevertheless" One contrasting transition word too many. BuddingJournalist 14:57, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Okay all done. I'll look for the extra information but while working on the article, I looked for that information specifically but couldn't find it. Gary King (talk) 16:56, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Comments from Dabomb87 (talk · contribs) I did the GA review for the article, but have returned with fresh eyes.
Is there any reason that this or this cannot be used?"An early demo, Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt, was included as a pack-in game with the Nintendo DS when it launched in 2004." Not clear what "it" is here."At the beginning of the game"-->At the game's beginning,Samus learns that it was Gorea who sent- "

I don't see what is particularly blunt about it"they appreciated the results, stating" Comma after this.- Ref 18, "S-Play" should be italicized. Dabomb87 (talk) 01:53, 27 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- All done, except for adding the two references, which I will get to either today or tomorrow. I disagree with about two of these: I think "beginning of the game" sounds better, and I want to leave "previously" there as otherwise it might seem like they worked on those games after this game was released. I just want to make it clear. Gary King (talk) 02:08, 27 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- OK. Dabomb87 (talk) 02:10, 27 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

- Please read this and this and also look here to see if they mention anything interesting/useful, of if they suggest something that leads to something interesting/useful. [And by "interesting" I don't mean trivia about House (TV series).] Research is good. More research is better. Ling.Nut (talk—WP:3IAR) 00:44, 29 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- I'm placing a list of 25 possible sources on the article's Talk. Let me know if there are some you want but can't get. Ling.Nut (talk—WP:3IAR) 01:00, 29 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Awesome, thanks I will get right on it. However, the problem with articles that mention the game is that most of them only have information useful for the Gameplay, Plot, and Reception sections. It's always hardest to find information for the Development section. I will check out the sources that you posted on the talk page. As for the three links that you provided above, the first one talks about the 802.11 connection for the game; I think that information is too technical for this article. The second link only mentions the game in passing, in a list of examples. The third link mostly contains books that are game guides, etc. but I will check them out one by one to see if there is anything useful. Gary King (talk) 01:05, 29 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- I checked a few of those articles posted on the talk page; most don't say anything about the game besides just using it as an example. However, a few of them do look interesting, such as "23. METROID PRIME HUNTERS. Electronic Gaming Monthly (1058-918X) 5/1/2006.Iss.203;p.109-109" and "24. Metroid Prime Hunters and Tetris DS Begin a New Era of Competition. PR Newswire March 20, 2006.p.NA". I worry that they might just be reviews, though, which I don't need any more of. Could you send them to me, though, so I can take a look? Gary King (talk) 01:09, 29 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

- Oppose, 1b.— I'm concerned about the lack of viewpoints in reception. Opinions from the gaming press is nice, but it would be helpful to include viewpoints from newspapers and the MSM to complement; in addition in looking through LexisNexis archives I've found sentiments not mirrored in the reception text, for example Electronic Gaming Monthly savaged the single-player where "levels seem contrived and predictable--after a few worlds of hunting for keys, fighting repeat bosses, and escaping before the bomb blows, the design feels rote. Plus, placing the interface for switching visors and weapons on the touch screen adds an unnecessary layer of complexity."(May 2006: v1 n203) An article from Brandweek revealed that Hunters was a central part of Nintendo's plan to curb stomp the PSP right out of the gate, including featuring the game in its DS "Touching is good" campaign (February 7, 2005). There's substantial reviews from The Toronto Sun, The Australian, and The Washington Times, as well as lesser reviews in the likes of The Times and The Independent, which can be used at least to bolster claims made by other publications; I haven't looked at what might be online. There's even a Washington Post story that says the "swag bags" celebrities got at the Sundance Film Festival came with a DS and Hunters. In short; more refs! --Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs (talk) 15:56, 30 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
