  • Is the title correct? The category is "announcers", the lead calls them "lead broadcasters" (which is linked to "sports commentator"), but nothing says "broadcaster" on its own.
  • I don't know, it seems a bit like a bugger's muddle there with so many different ways to refer to essentially the same thing. It's not a big deal I guess as long as we're being consistent, but it might be a good opportunity to align these terms for such lists and categories?   • I created Category:Minor League Baseball broadcasters to which I added this list and what minor league broadcasters I could find at Category:Baseball announcers. At present, all MLB (as well as the other major American leagues: NFL, NBA, and NHL) use the term "broadcaster" in categories and lists league-wide and for each team. Dictionary.com indicates "broadcaster" can be used to refer to both the individual announcer and the station broadcasting a game. I also changed the section title for this list to "Announcers and stations". I'm not sure how (or if) to proceed beyond that.   • Only three of the seven notable enough for an article?
  • It looks that way. The other four are all known for their minor league and collegiate broadcasting; three are active, one is now an accountant. Steve Selby, now a redirect to this list, was successfully PROD'd in 2008. NatureBoyMD (talk)
  • Besides when they came and went, and which station(s) they broadcast on, is there anything of interest to note about any of these individuals' tenures as broadcaster while working for the Sounds?
  • Table isn't sortable so no need to repeat linking.
  • Plenty of scope for reducing the size of the table, or at least using row/col spans where the same information is repeated time after time (e.g. Jamison 80 to 82 is identical, Jamison 84 to 87 identical, Caroll 91 to 94 identical, Hem 2012 to 16 identical etc etc).

A couple of questions, at least one of which may be down to my unfamiliarity with how US sports coverage works
  • The text concentrates (understandably) on the radio announcers, but also mentions that some games were televised. Were the listed announcers also used for the TV coverage? As far as I can see that isn't made explicitly clear.
  • I've added text explaining that the radio announcers provided commentary for TV games except in the 1979 season. I've not added the TV announcer to the table. I'm wondering if I should create a separate table for TV announcers & stations or try to sandwich his name into the existing table. ? NatureBoyMD (talk) 14:56, 20 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • By the sound of things the announcers are employed by the club, rather than by a radio station, which is the opposite of what I am used to here in the UK but presumably explains why the coverage was able to jump from station to station but retain the same announcer. But why does the coverage change stations? Might it be worth a sentence or two saying something like "Sounds games have been broadcast on 13 radio stations in the club's history, changing because [whatever the reason is - contract re-negotiations.....?]"
  • Correct, the team has a contract with an announcer to call the games and a separate contact with a station to air the broadcast. (Though, the 1978 announcer owned the station.) I've added prose regarding why the first station was selected, why they switched in the second year, and reasons for subsequent station changes. NatureBoyMD (talk) 14:56, 20 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
