I am nominating this for featured list because, according to an FL director, the previous nomination failed due to a lack of comments. This list needs to be featured in order to save an existing featured topic for demotion (which was supposed to have happened a week ago). All similar articles use present-tense, and although there really hasn't been any major discussion on the issue, consistency is good. Also, if source-able, all storm-related deaths should be included. –Juliancolton | ^Talk 00:35, 4 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I was the original author, and the reason I had it in present tense (and not past) was because it was a chronology. For storms in a single year, the past is fixed, but in this case, it's not so much about a single fixed date, but rather all the different storms that affected the state. --♬♩ Hurricanehink (talk) 01:19, 4 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As in the previous nomination, I believe this sentence should be fixed: "The first storm to impact the state during the period was Hurricane Florence in September 2000, and the most recent is Hurricane Ida in 2009". Past tense should be consistent: "the most recent was Hurricane Ida...". I'm asking Hurricanehink and Ed to comment. As before, I will support if consensus is against me.     - Well, that's a larger semantic discussion of which this list is only a part of. As JC noted, the list is following the same format for the other similar hurricane lists (particularly the North Carolina hurricane lists prior to 2000).       - I'm not sure I understand. The lead at List of North Carolina hurricanes (1980–1999) is all in past tense. To me, "The first storm to impact the state during the period is Hurricane Florence in September 2000, and the most recent is Hurricane Ida in 2009" makes no grammatical sense. Surprised to see no summary of storms by category, or at least a mention of the Saffir–Simpson Hurricane Scale.

What's USGS (used in the caption without explanation)?
"17.5 percent" just a query really, why not %?
The subsectioning appears abitrary, I guess you're doing it to carve them up roughly equally in size?
"enter the state as a subtropical depression and drops over" singular to plural here for me, perhaps just "drop over".
"in 9 indirect" after the semi-colon, I would expect this to be "nine".
I guess the accuracy of your rainfalls etc is driven by the sources. It seems a little odd to see "8.31 inches (211mm)" and "10 inches (250mm)" to me, that's all. If it is driven by the sources, perhaps a general note would be useful. Are you using the convert template to ensure consistent conversion (10 inches=254 mm where I'm from...)

This has been a bit of a an issue for a while within tropical cyclone articles. Generally, exact amounts are given exact conversions, while general estimates (10 in) are given rounded conversions to avoid the perception of precision (if that makes sense?) –Juliancolton | ^Talk 13:40, 15 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"of less duration" shorter in duration.
Similarly to above, 3 inches is 76mm for me.
En-dashes for year ranges in the references please.
Don't mix date formats in the references.

Since Isabel was the strongest strom, I think the article would benefit from an image of it. For instance File:Hurricane_Isabel_18_sept_2003_1555Z.jpg or File:Hurricane_Isabel_NC_landfall_radar.jpg. The image should go to the leading section, with the current image moved to 2003-2004 section.

As an extratropical cyclone Tropical Storm Barry This sounds like an oxymoron. This actually was an extratropical cyclone, which in the past was a storm. So a better choice of words is "Tropical Storm Barry, which by 7 May tuned into an extratropical cyclone, crosses".
